    My first thought was a JEFFERS trade. We are now loaded with mediocre 1B options, overloaded with C, and a bench full of non-hitting utility players plus a questionable BP What a roster.

    Nice exercise - now add Pascual, Kaat, Viola, Perry, Morris as our rotation. And Marshall, Worthington, Nathan, Aguilera, Perkins, Duran in the BP.

    All our MLB transactions since the season ended have brought us Bell, Kreideler, Jackson, Orze, Wagaman and Brujan - their total war last year is 1.1. I mean thata is the total for all six players. Now that is really moving the bar! Of course that does not take in our acquisition of Roden -0.6 or Outman -1.0 or Abel -0.2 or Bradley -0.6 for a total of -2.4 WAR in 2025. 10 players -1.3 WAR total. I see some potential, but this is not generating enthusiasm.

    I have no idea and suspect no one else does until they try. Then the question is - does a player get put into high leverage right away or get some experience first.

    The question I always have about coaches and you can add all MLB coaches too - is how do we judge them? Often it is the talent that they are given to work with. This is the right amount of voices or too little/too much? I don't know. I look at all the Twins coaches and wonder what they all do and how well they are doing it. Imagine being an Earl Weaver, Sparky Anderson, Casey Stengel, Walk Alston and having to maneuver all these bodies. I cannot say if any of these decisions are good or not.

    As usual all we can do is wait and see. Since we have now cornered the market in no-hit utility players we can start working on bad pitch RP.

    The Twins inspire again - Let me count the ways Vidal Brujan replaces Mickey Gaspar We claim Eric Wagaman and let go of Ryan Fitzpatrick We get Alex Jackson and release Kiersey We sign Eric Orze We get Ryan Kreidler off wavers Are we just getting different names so we can brag that our bench is different and the FO actually did something. Letting go of Gaspar, McCusker, Keirsey, Eeles will not hurt the club - the question is - will the new names help the club?

    Why not? Look at what he contributed in his one year as a Twin and what Bader contributed last year. We need some good OF defense - which also means Wallner at DH, Larnach at 1B and Jenkins and Rodriguez in the OF.

    I would love to see an analysis of the top five rated players in our minor leagues for the last 10 years and where they are now. I know Royce and Lee were top rated players and are in the majors, but only because the Twins do not have players good enough to fill those positions and (acquiring Ryan Kreidler, Eric Wagaman, and Orlando Arcia to provide depth on the margins. - quoted from another essay) is not giving them any competition. Wallner is still a question mark and all the earlier articles wanted us to cut Larnach. Julien in on the MLB club because we have acquired such lousy free agents for the bench, but he had one year and fizzled out. Miranda is gone. Zebby and Festa are looked at as success but Zebby has a MLB career of -0.4 WAR and a 5.92 ERA for his two years. Festa has been hurt, but when he was on the mound he has a two year WAR of 0.8 and a 5.12 ERA. I am not interested in whether we have enough bodies to fill all the minor league rosters. Like other commentators I want to see a steady progression of major league successes.

    Based on this statement, why not, he can't be worth less than this dustbin of no talent and we know him, he was one of US. Of course if we do, it is another indication that there are two qualifications for our bench - they can stand up and they won't cost very much. Isn't there a quality person out there? I am hoping Fitzgerald gets a chance to show the Twins that cutting him for these mediocre vets was a poor decision.

    Great Post - I love these discussions with some research being conducted. I will accept your premise. But now I need to see someone besides Jeffers come from our ranks.

    I love it when we bring baseball into the world of literature and language - here is an AI definition from Google for a baseball pipeline: "The concept of a baseball pipeline refers to the structured system and process through which amateur players are identified, developed, and advanced to the professional Major League Baseball (MLB) level. It encompasses all the stages a player goes through from early identification to their MLB debut." But in the long run, our semantical exchange still comes back to the question of whether the Twins have a product at the end of the pipeline or a drip. Since Falvey has been here and ignoring Jeffers and Vasquez we have always had a catcher at every level, but regardless of origin the next Twin up we have had Gaspar and Pareda in 2025, Camargo in 2024, Sanchez, Leon, and Godoy in 2022, Garver and Rortvedt in 21. Avila and Astudillo in 20. We have not called up Winkel or any other minor league catchers. We have continued to reach out. So I am waiting to see a flow from our internal pipes.

    Maybe our sneaky FO can pull off a trade and get the Dodgers to take Kreidler in a trade for Fitzgerald and we can applaud them for doing something. By the way, this is an aside, but I have a hard time spelling Kreidler. I keep hearing my teachers of more than half a century ago saying i before e except after C.

    That is not a pipeline. We traded and grabbed catchers to fill our rosters. A pipeline means a steady flow from within, not a patchwork from without.
