  1. The biggest takeaway for me is Wallner - I don't mean his challenge - it is obvious he does not know a strike zone and his ability to stand and watch a third strike go by seems like a good ticket for a bench seat.
  2. After three games there's not much to make hard decisions on. Buxton and Ryan are the great players we expect. Last night just a three-game decision. The only other thought I had was on Auston Martin who has been known for bad decisions on the base paths and in the field and that just seems to continue. His basic baseball IQ seems lacking.
  3. Game one - Ryan look great. Buxton got a triple A really close game. Not a lot that can be really judged on the basis of this one game with 161 to follow. It's just nice to have baseball back.
  4. I know that but the rave reviews I've read on here would seem to make he and Emma and Gonzalez to be more in the 70 range than 60
  5. Actually I'm disappointed if 60 is the highest and we only have one at that ranking.
  6. Can't wait for the season to begin and speculation can end
  7. I am always pleased when a player forces his way onto the team and Zebby has disappointed me. MY only other regret is not having Emma on the opening day roster. I think the pitching is looking promising and if Ober struggles I hope there is a quick hook and a call up to replace him.
  8. Okay we pair this pen with underperforming Ober and a group of young pitchers all with ERAs over 5 - looks like a powerful mix to me.
  9. I would say no because I say no, but this is a team that allowed one player to go 0 - 30 as a pinch hitter!
  10. Good summary, but less than stellar rotation outlook. It was the part of the team that we were most confident in, but to summarize what you have written - Lopez out, Ryan with back issue, Ober not showing that he is back in form. Then we have SWR, Abel, Matthews, Festa, Bradley. SWR seems like the sure bet. SWR lifetime 4.21 ERA is far above the other 5.12,4.86,6.23,5.92 Our pitching coach has lots of arms to work with - what will he do with them?
  11. I would prefer a six man rotation to begin. Let them duel against real talent in meaningful games. Reduce the stress on Ryan's back, Ober's struggles, and SWR and Bradley's growth.
  12. I like what they have done - I actually think they benefit by having Luis Roberts off the team. The Twins better step up because the White Sox are coming and we definitely do not want them to pass us.
  13. Good recap - glad you brought in Law's reasoning. I am less impressed with the top 20 than I was a few years ago which means they should be better than what have seen since the Kiriloff, Lewis, Miranda, Julien , Balazovic years.
  14. Not an inspiring story - especially if true. If our vets fail, it is too much to just rely on prospects. But it is ST. So I will wait and see. Thanks for the review.
  15. It is always good to lead the league in something! I think we have found our niche.
  16. I am not a fan of WAR to judge SP. My question is, would you choose the pitcher to start a critical game? He has 8 years of post season experience. It does not matter to me if he is called an ACE or not, but I am not ready to equate Ryan and Valdez yet.
  17. Durability is the number one issue. I want to see a stud prospect move in to the lineup and stay there, but Jenkins has Twins syndrome - too many injuries and too much time on the IL. Let's hope that changes - I want to see him on the team soon.
  18. Pressure on Brooks Lee with Culpepper and then Houston stacking up behind him.
  19. Yes - I hope he keeps producing. I was thinking of a new young player - I want more than Buxton and Keaschall to root for.
  20. It seems like we have a team full of DHs! And I do not think that is a good thing. Your analyses have been really good but the product you are analyzing is not.
  21. This is a tough one because I want Wallner to succeed, but I do not want us to make up stats and stories to overlook his failures. 22 HRs 40 RBIs see my comment to Linus. He was 8th among Twins in RBIs. I did not see the normal listing of player - backups - prospects, but I too would like to see Gonzales get an opportunity. However, I had to laugh at this quote about Gonzales because it reflects on the fact that Wallner is a bad fielder. And then I read That is not true - it is what we want him to be, it is what he was before last year. I always look forward to these position evaluations, but this one just does not ring true.
  22. Sorry but he had as much chance to drive in runs as the other players in this lineup and he had 40 which meant he was behind Buxton, Lee Larnach, Lewis, Clemens, Jeffers and France. Are you telling me that Wallner kept coming up with the bases empty?
