  1. We should be impressed with mediocracy? We are 10 - 6 in our division which features a KC team that is kept off the MLB bottom by the A's We are 6 - 1 versus the Royals. Remove that and we are 22 - 25 in the weakest division in the AL. We lead the league in Ks - that is our offense - we strikeout more than any other team. Our BA leader is Buxton at 221. We are 24th in team BA - 234 and 19th in team OPS. Nice try Matt, but this is not the time to be impressed. I am impressed by the SP, but it ends there.
  2. I agree, except Correa has been in th3e 3 spot too long. Make him earn it with a 7 spot.
  3. I think it is time for Correa to take a seat for a couple days or at least be dropped down in the lineup.
  4. Insert Wallner at 4. And I would stay with Julien at 2B, but Farmer would be fine too.
  5. I have been against the DH in the HOF since the beginning. Just as I am reluctant to put in RP. That standard is easy for me to support.
  6. Buxton only play half the game - DH, not defense means to me he should only get credit for 1/2 game each time he plays. I know that is unpopular, but look at the total package. Taylor and Buxton - one can't hit, one isn't playing defense but that is two players for one position and the options for lineup are substantially weakened.
  7. How did a hit become a weak grounder? How many of his HRs have been with men on base?
  8. As his constant critic I want him to make contact with the ball when we have runners on base.
  9. I find it sad. Gallo has a reputation that I do not understand with Twins writers. Yes his cumulative Slg looks good, But was early season success when he piled up 7 HRs in April. In May he had 4. His OBP in April was 349 in May it was 326. OPS in May was 1.066 in April it was 706. . In April he batted 226, in May 183. He struck out 21 times in April and 32 in May. I can do without him. If he is going to be gone next year I say good riddance, Kepler batted 263 in April and 142 in May. And we send Wallner down? OBP April 343, May 234. SLG 491 - 381. OPS 835/615. I hate the justifications of these players without looking deeper. In April they were contributors in May they were Albatrosses ( I hate to denigrate the bird).
  10. I am always curious where the Twins are on the leaderboards so I went on MLB.com today to find out. Most of these are traditional stats: Hits - #131 Byron Buxton (40) - leader Bo Bichette (78) BA - Solano with 270 does not have enough ABs to qualify but would be #58, Among qualifiers Buxton is #141 at 225 and Correa is $153 at 210 - leader Luis Arraez 376 2bs - Correa is tied for #58 with 11, Yes Spencer Steer is way ahead of him - Freeman leads with 23 3bs - this almost extinct stat has 5 tied with 4 and Trevor Larnach leads our team with 2 HRs - Joey Gallo has 11 and is tied for 16th with 10 other batters - Pete Alsono has 20 . RBIs - Trevor Larnach is our leader with 27 and is tied with 9 other batters for #55 - Adolis Garcia has 49 BB - Soto has 50 and Buxton and Correa combine to tie him with 25 each. Tied for #29 SO - Teoscar Hernandez is having a very disappointing season and has 76 Ks, Our team leader is Byron (Sano) Buxton with 60 - #50 and Joey Gallo with 55 less ABs has 54 SB - Esteury Ruiz has 27. Our leader is Willi Castro with 9 good for #19 OBP - lead by Arraez as 433 our leader is Solano at 349 - among qualifiers our leader is Gallo at 338 #76 SLG - Judge is out of this world at 629. Gallo is 524 Which would tie him for 16 if he had enough ABs. Buxton has 455 which puts him #65. Brent Rooker is #25 OPS - Judge is 1.087 and Diaz is 1.018 Our best is Gallo at 862 #26 if he had enough ABs and Buxton 780 #75 AB/HR - Judge is one every 9.33 and Buxton at #24 his one every 17.8 ABs K% - Luis Arraez .050%. Buxton at 291 is #152 PITCHING - a lot nicer story here ERA - Sonny Gray is #1 at 1.94 Games - Jorge Lopez is tied for #7 with 25. The leader is Matt Brash and Andrew Nardi with 27 and I have no idea who either is Saves - Emmanuel Clase leads with 22. Inn - Eovaldi has 74.1 Our leader is Pablo Lopez with 65.2 #15 right behind Kyle Gibson Ks - Spencer Strider is the only one over 100 (102). Pablo Lopez leads the Twins with 81 good for #5 Whip - wow another former Twin Tyler Wells leads with 0.83 while Johann Duran has 0.891 and Ryan is 0.951 which ranks #3 RELIEF PITCHER STATS DO NOT SHOW WELL AT MLB.COM SO I WENT TO FANTASY PROS BS - Lopez and Jax are tied for second with 4, Clase who leads in Saves leads in BS with 6 ERA/RP - Cole Sands is #17 with 0.90 in 10 innings - maybe we should use him more? Yennier Cano is 0.98 with a 0.54 WHIP in 27 innings WHIP/RP - looking at RP with more than 10 innings - Jeffery Springs 0.50, Johann Duran is 0.891 Let's bring on the rookies!
  11. Thanks for the review. Interesting to see the prospect list. There seems to be some guys who are going to have to drop down or off the list with the next revision. Soon Lewis will not be eligible and if the Twins are smart Wallner will also move up and off the list. The pitchers - Balazovic and Headrick and Richardson are not blossoming - so who is next to be a call up?
  12. Okay - the young guys are doing what the vets have not - so why Gallo and Kepler and not Wallner? That is my only complaint, I know they contributed 5 Ks to keep us in the league lead, but seriously are these the batters we want when we need a hit, a runner????
  13. I know we had a retrospective on Aaron Hicks. Good player not great. Retrospectives are important for judging decisions so considering how important the BP is - wouldn't it be nice if it had Hendriks, Pressly, Graderol, Taylor, Cano? How about a look back at these moves and the question comes to mind is how we could miss Cano and Hendriks. What has happened to them that the Twins could not fix? I am also interested in the rotation rankings. I think Gray is our number one and wonder why we have not extended him. Ryan is 1A and I love to see him pitch. Then the question is for number three is it Ober over Lopez? His performance has outshown Lopez since he has been called up. Varland is easily the number 5 in this group. And will Maeda force him out of the rotation or will we use Kenta in the BP?
  14. I would give the batting MVP to Farmer. He has come through in a variety of ways not just the three true outcomes.
  15. My prediction is that Kepler will look the same as he always has and that Gallo will lead the K happy team to new heights as they continue to lead the leagues in strike outs.
  16. It's really hard to find something new to write about. It seems like each week we blunder into the same kind of poor performance following a hopeful one. This week our young players look like they're ready to go and then immediately after they get sent down for a player like Kepler who has disappointed for the last few years. The bullpen now has Jax, Pagan, and Lopez shaking our faith. And Stewart and Duran giving us our only two reliable arms. Good night
  17. Yesterday we actually scored runs - of course we didn't today and what is wrong with Ober, doesn't he know he has to throw a shut out if he doesn't want to lose? And Wallner goes down because Kepler comes back? Wallner 369/520 - 1.099 OPS, Kepler 212/298 - 742. Makes sense. Well we won 1 of 3 - is that a victory?
  18. Stats - underlying or overlying don't change the win-loss record for games that we have sacrificed to Jax/Lopez/Pagan/Colome and others I do not want to remember. We have Duran and then we cross our fingers and toes and do all kinds of voodoo when the BP steps in - voodoo is the underlying figure.
  19. No it was not acceptable. In our constant quest for a fourth OF - wouldn't a Hicks/Rosario/Buxton/Kepler team have been very valuable? He was overrated because he was a Yankee, but dumping him was wrong and the choice for the trade was atrocious.
  20. I love the game and I love the energy of the new guys on the team. I will continue to dislike gallo like I have since the trade. It's going to take an awful lot for him to meet me a fan. I'm also concerned about Jorge Lopez. He's looking a lot like the guy we had the second half of last year. So I am hoping a lot of things change, but also a lot of things continue as they have with the young guys continually put out in a position to contribute
  21. There isn't much left to be said - I just have to say I agree with the posts - hits do count, hits drive in runs, hits move the runners. Strikeouts? Yikes. When has Gallo last made a difference. Why PH for Kiriloff - he is one person who might get a hit. Something has to change.
  22. MLB.com lists 14 coaches and 7 staff - how do you analyze the contribution these 21 men make? An assistant to the assistant is there to take the blame and get fired. I just think this is an amazing number. What is a quality control coach? And please explain a bench coach. Is this just so the manager does not feel lonely? Are there really that many decisions to be made and how often is the BC consulted?
