  1. I'm guessing the players wouldn't like double headers every Sunday, but I like a lot of these ideas. Anything that keeps the stars on the field and makes more meaningful games and relevant teams is good for the game. I'm afraid we are moving towards 4 or 5 teams becoming big rich powerhouses and every year will be the same few teams battling for the championship with no chance at all for the little guys to even compete with the juggernauts.
  2. The poor defense sure didn't help our overall pitching numbers, but poor pitching was the issue. I'm the rotation we had to rely on three rookies. Festa and especially Mathews should never have been relied upon in the majors before they were ready, but they were due to lack of major league depth. In the pen, we dealt with lots of injuries and our closer regressed a bit and was horrible with guys on base. A lot of those poor outings seemed to happen when Rocco sent him out there in a non save situation. Twins just need better talent, plain and simple. How we do that without signing free agents or taking on payroll in trades, I'm not sure. Twins have done a good job producing young talent and a strong farm system. Problem is, even top prospects don't pan out. You need to supplement the home grown guys with MLB caliber free agents, which we just won't do.
  3. This is what makes me a bit hesitant to give up on Larnach just yet. Sure, we have two lefties in the OF. Three of Keirsey is Buxton's backup, but he proved he can hit this year, even while not fully healthy.
  4. I don't like it. Why fix what isn't broken. Jax is one of the best relievers in the game, he always seems to pitch in game changing situations. We have enough depth in the rotation. We don't have enough depth in the pen.
  5. I hope he can bounce back this year. A lot of that will depend on him staying healthy. I do think he needs a permanent defensive position. Either keep him at third or let him be our long term first baseman. I think Lee profiles better at second and third. Miranda can also play third and back up Royce at first, if we don't sign a first baseman.
  6. I'll be thankful for a new owners who wants to regain the trust of MN fans and win a world series...
  7. I laughed so hard at this. The article asks if this pitcher would be a good fit for the Twins and then the first picture of the guy is him standing there in a huge arm brace lol. Yup, perfect fit indeed:)
  8. Hopefully Jenkins, ERod, Keaschal and maybe Festa can be a part of this list someday.
  9. Is he going to start the year in A+ or AA? The lack of HR so far doesn't bother me at all, the guys only turning 20 years old. The power will come, I'm glad he's working on just being a hitter, not striking out, taking walks and hitting into the gaps. If he keeps this up, he'll be a great hitter for us for a lot of years. I just hope the organization doesn't ruin him by trying to make him swing for home runs every at bats like they did with Austin Martin. Let the kid do his thing and hopefully he can stay healthy and compete for an OF job in 2026:)
  10. Our 1-3 SP should be pretty solid. Number 4 SWR I could see going either way. Major sophomore slump now that the books out, or, improve with his new found confidence. Paddack can and should be moved. That means we need someone else though as I think Festa and for sure Mathews need time in AAA. If we are truly trying to improve our rotation, we should sign someone like Severino, Flaherty or Mannea to be a 2-4 type SP, and then sign a low cost high reward type guy like Mathews Boyd. If he works out great, we have six capable starters, if not, try him in the pen or release him. I do think we need to do both however. You can never have too much pitching, and aside from Ryan last year, we've been very lucky with our rotation health.
  11. I'm pumped and excited for Emma, but I think we should pump the breaks a bit, especially with an MLB debut this year. He only had a handful of AAA at bats which went poorly. He did well in AA but didn't have even a half season there. He has to play a full year before we know what he's capable of. The near 30 percent strikeout rate is concerning, as is his inability to hit off speed stuff. We have seen guys like Larnach overcome this, it just took a few years. I think Erod will be a great outfielder for us for a lot of years, I just don't think we should force a debut until he's ready.
  12. I am just glad that since Falvey took over, the organization seems to have moved on from the old pitching style of soft tossing, pitch to contact guys. That just doesn't work in today's game and it's a good thing the Twins changed to value velo and strikeouts.
  13. I'd like Santander more than Teoscar due to the fact Santander is a switch hitter, which would balance out our lineup a bit. Even if both Larnach and Wallner are in the OF, Santander could be a great DH for us. Of course all this is pointless as we know the Twins are not signing any free agents of any consequence this year.
  14. Now that we finally have a top 5 farm system with a lot of infield depth but no salary to sign players, I'd think now would be the time to try to move some of our prospects to fill the several holes on our big league club. Mainly a first baseman, a RH outfielder and a LHRP for our bullpen.
  15. I'm excited about his potential. While he will probably start the year back in AA, of he does well I could see an early season move up to AAA. He needs to prove he can hit upper level pitchers, but if he's fully healthy and starts to tear it up in AAA, maybe he could be the first baseman that we need. He may not be typical first base material, but if his bat plays and his defense is good enough, let it ride. I can see him and Miranda putting up similar numbers with regular playing time. .250-.280 AVG. 15-25 HR.....of course they'd need an everyday position to be able to hit numbers like these
  16. I hope we hold onto Castro as he's a great utility guy. Even if we did move him though, we have better in house options than this guy. What we need is a power hitting first baseman. Walker is a perfect fit in just about every way, except for payroll....
  17. We have a good core of a bullpen with only a few needs. Jax needs to stay our setup man, Varland needs to accept he's a full-time reliever now. We should be set from the right side If Canterino can actually pitch it will be a bonus. What we need is to sign a proven left handed relief pitcher who can also get eighties out. Funderburk, Moran and Headrick can all compete for the second LHRP position. If we get our lefty set up man and get relatively good health from our guys, we should have a solid pen.
  18. We all know the Twins have lost some trades, but which team hasn't? That shouldn't stop us from make NG trades this year to make the team better. Most likely, it's the only way we'll be able to improve, seeing as our budget is already made. With the whole sale of the team, I doubt we see much action or change at all in the roster. Definitely no big free agents or long term deals. Maybe we sign some typical scrap heap relievers but that'll probably be it. Its going to be up to our young guys and core guys to play well. No big reinforcements coming, let's face it.
  19. Just do what he did last year and he'll be just fine. As long as he's fully healed from last years injury and as long as we can keep him healthy long term, I think there might even be a bit more improvement we could see from him this year. His age, his instincts and his bulldog approach is exactly what you want in a TOR pitcher and I think he has ace like potential. I really like our top 3 in Lopez, Ryan and Ober. If SWR can repeat what he did last year and avoid a sophomore slump, we should be in a good place. I'd still like to see a veteran starter signed to be a number 5 SP, allowing Festa to start the year in AAA and be the first man up. I don't see any new starters signing though, and because Paddack is all but gone, I expect Festa to be in the rotation to start the season.
  20. I'm guessing they tender everyone. These are cheap salaries and anyone we'd try to sign to replace these guys would be more expensive anyways. Maybe a Paddack and Castro or Vasquez and Castro would open up enough money to at least take care of one item on our to do list. We need a real everyday first baseman. A good RH fourth outfielder who can play a good center field, and a solid lefty reliever.
  21. No to both. Mateo is injured and is a clear downgrade offensively from what we already have. I love the idea of getting a hard throwing lefty for our pen, but Soto isn't the answer. First he's to expensive, he'd be the most expensive reliever on our team. His ERA last few years is over 4. He can get K's sure, but he walks almost a third of hitters and he sucks against eighties. We can and should do much better. How much would Aroldis Chapman cost us in a one year deal?
  22. I think we need all the bullpen depth we can get and should keep all of them. If we did non tender any of these guys, we'd just have to replace them with free agents, and I doubt we could do any better than 1 to 1.5 million per arm. I say we tender all four, sign a legit late inning lefty and call the bullpen good. If Canterino, Prelipp or Headrick can win a spot in spring training, then all the better. I'd love a pen like this... Duran Jax Sands Alcala Stewart Topa Varland Henriquez Tonkin Free agent lefty, competition for second lefty between Moran, Headrick and Prelipp. Also give a chance to Canterino, Raya or any other live arm looking to make the jump.
  23. This should be his year. Starting in the AAA rotation they will give him every opportunity to remain a starter. Look how long they gave Varland. Raya- just needs to show he's healthy and that he can pitch to a starters workload. Finish off developing that last pitch and find a way to limit the walks. Dude is still only 22 years old, he has plenty of time still. I'd say if he's healthy and effective maybe he gets a few spot starts later in the year with a chance at competing for a rotation spot in 2026. If not, guy could be a great bullpen weapons as well. I do think they should give him every opportunity to stick as a starter first.
  24. Wallner's strikeout rate scares me, as does his inconsistent hitting, like the beginning of last year when he couldn't buy a hit. However, I do think he has more potential and a higher ceiling than Larnach. We do need two corners outfielders though. If we trade anyone I'd trade Larnach, but only if we had a plan in place to replace him with a major league outfielder who can hit, preferably from the right side. Castro, Martin and Keirsey are fine as 4rth outfielders, at least until Eros and Rosario are ready, but I wouldn't want any of them as our starting left fielder.
  25. Glad we added him. The fact that he's healthy and very durable and close to an MLB debut, makes me think at least one team would have taken a chance on him. You can never have too much pitching.
