I think it will be hard to keep both Henriquez and Castellano on the MLB roster all year long. Henriquez has no options and Castellano goes back to PHI if not. That said, it would be nice having some depth at AAA like Varland, Topa and Funderburk. I still think Canterino or Prelipp should get at least some spring training innings to see if they're healthy and effective. A MLB quality lefty should be attainable even with this ownership and should really be a priority. I bet we could get a decent relief pitcher for Paddack.

How Can the Twins Win the World Series (in 2031)?
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How about we worry about this year and the next couple years first. If anyone's noticed, we have some real holes to fill still to be a legit contender.- 28 replies

I think it could go either way. The late innings should be ok with Jax and Duran. After that, it's a lot of what ifs. Sands needs to repeat what he did last year. Stewart and Alcala could be great weapons too, IF they stay healthy and consistent. Who knows what we'll get out of Topa, Henriquez, Varland or the rule 5 guy. Varland might not even start in the majors this year. Use his last option year to see if he can cut it as a full-time reliever in AAA. I do think we need a quality lefty. Someone like Chafin should come fairly cheap. If we can't swing a lefty, at least a quality one year vet like Robinson, Yates or someone else we can pair with Sands as our 3-4. Maybe we get lucky and Canterino and or Prelipp are healthy and pitch way too well to get left off the roster.

Raya, Adams, Lewis, Culpeper. Not to mention guys that could be a real weapon in the pen like Canterino or Prelipp. Will be fun to watch these guys develop. However, I do think the MLB club needs at least one more veteran in the rotation to allow enough time for Festa, Mathews and the rest to proper amount of time in St Paul to make sure they're ready rather than rushing them too fast like the did with Zebby last year.

What Is Carlos Correa's Mindset Right Now?
LambchoP replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I guess it depends. If he believes the new owners will be willing to build a good team around him and make a serious run at competing, then I expect he would stay. Say he has a great, healthy year in '25. Then with new owners next off-season they still stand pat and don't add payroll. With a productive first half of '26 season I could see him asking for a trade to a competitor. You couldn't blame him either. If the team that signed you goes back on their promises to keep a competitive team around you, there would be nobody blaming him for dipping out -
Nothing but minor league signings, a rule 5 draft pickup and a few lottery ticket international signings. Hard to get excited for the season after an off-season like that...

Comparing AL Central Rosters: Part 2 (Outfielders/DH)
LambchoP replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think they need too look past which side he hits from and make Keirsey our fourth outfielder. He can play all three positions including a good CF and I think he'll hit better than Martin. He can also give us some speed and stolen bases, something we sorely need. I doubt we'll see much of him without an injury to Larnach or Wallner since they seem intent on finding a right. I really hope Wallner can limit his strikeouts as and stay healthy. In a full year I can see him blasting 30+ homers easy- 33 replies

Comparing AL Central Rosters: Part 1 (Infielders)
LambchoP replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think we have anywhere near enough offense to be a playoff team. Especially with Correa, Buxton and Lewis basically only being part time players. We need at least one more impact bat, preferably at first base. Still need another SP and a LHRP too. I don't expect the team to fill any of these holes externally unfortunately:(. New owners in town yet?!?- 42 replies

While I would love it if E Rod makes his debut and immediately becomes an impact player, I think it's a long shot. He hasn't tried to hit in AAA yet and really he only has what, less than half a season at AA? I think it's a bit early to talk about his debut. Let's see if he can hit in St Paul and more importantly, stay on the field.
-
If they won't sign Chafin or any other lefty for the pen, maybe they trade some combo of Paddack, Helman or Henriquez to acquire a LHRP. We really are going to need one, can't expect Funderburk to be our guy. I think we have enough backup outfielders with Keirsey, Martin and Rodriguez. Not to mention Castro. I'm more worried about first base and pitching. Miranda could be a decent bat, but I don't think he has the power we need at 1b, but it looks like we're stuck with some combo of him, Julien and Keaschal. As for the rotation, I think having Festa and Mathews start in AAA would be very beneficial. If we can dump Paddacks salary I think signing the lefty throwing SP Quintana to be our number 5 would greatly improve our rotation. He's predicted to sign for close to the same salary Paddack would get.

Wasn't Camargo one of our top 30 prospects not too long ago? I don't understand all the hate and speculation that he's a throwaway DFA candidate soon. Isn't he a good hitter, at least in AAA? Maybe if he actually got a chance to play in the bigs during his next call up, rather than warm the bench, he'd surprise us. Hope to see how he does behind the plate in spring training.

Hold Up! The Twins Might Not Cut Payroll After All
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
To me this just sounds like the Twins finally admitting that we're just going to stand pat and keep the same roster as last year. If we get better health from our core guys and production from guys like Keaschal, Eeles, Festa, Canterino, maybe Mccusker and Rodriguez, it might not be too embarrassing of a season :). I think next year's off-season will be the one to prep for, as long as we get the new kind of ownership we're all hoping for. -
If this sale goes through, then the team needs to play well. If they are competitive at the trade deadline, maybe we would actually have money to be able to add to the team unlike last year. You'd think new owners would want to make a statement and get fans back on their side next off-season. Vlad might be a pipe dream, but a couple decent signings would go a long way towards repairing the hate and distrust of past cheap ownership.

5 Minnesota Twins Prospect Storylines to Follow in 2025
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
What about Eeles. You never hear about him but he could be a major factor in our infield if he hits like he did in St Paul last year. Dude has good contact skills and can steal bases. The next Willi Castro? I'm wondering where Keaschal will be playing. Do they see him as our first baseman of the future? What about Severino? If he has a big year, this might be his last chance at a MLB debut. I think Erod and most of these young pitchers need to prove they're healthy and effective for decent stretches in AAA before counting on MLB innings and at bats. Most of these SP have barely pitched any AAA innings.- 31 replies

Maybe Vasquez and a prospect for Peralta, but we can't move our one and only legit catcher.

Evaluating the Case for a Ryan Jeffers Extension
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's well known we have a lack of good catchers in our system. Still, I'm not sure Jeffers is our long-term answer. I think we should trade for a young, heir apparent catcher and let him learn from splitting time with Jeffers until his contract is up. -
Offseason Status Update: New Year, Same Team
LambchoP replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We need a first baseman, RH hitting OF who can cover CF, and we need a good lefty for the pen. If anything, we might get the relief arm if we can dump Paddack. The other roster holes are going to need to be filled with our own guys. I anticipate a lot of debuts this year. Hopefully some of them actually pan out and do well. Otherwise, we could find ourselves in fourth place only above the minor league like White Sox :(- 17 replies

Maybe Harold Ramirez, the other two don't look like an improvement over what we already have in AAA or AA.

The fact that the rest of the division hasn't improved a ton makes it all the more frustrating that the Twins continue to refuse to even TRY improving this team. Minor league signing and maybe a salary dump or two. That's our off-season. But don't worry fans, we're still committed to winning it all this year, so come to the ballpark and spend your money! Sad.
-
I think if he finally gets a definitive roles like 4rth OF and gets enough consistent at bats, I think he along with Keirsey can be serviceable fourth outfielders. At least until Rodriguez and Rosario are ready. The fact Martin hits RH should help his cause, even though Keirsey probably has the better bat and can cover CF. I think we're ok in the OF, especially if we keep Castro. I'm more worried about first base and pitching.
