    Iv been wondering who this Cerda guy was after seeing him hit that homer the other day. He's a young lottery ticket, maybe we get lucky and he puts it all together this year. He could be part of a trade package if he's not part of our plans.

    Twins have always placed important on a team leading center fielder. From Puckett to Hunter, to Buxton to Jenkins. Hopefully someday we see an OF of Jenkins, Buxton, Rodriguez and Wallner.

    With our supposed pitching pipeline and all of our top hitting prospects getting close to the majors, the team shouldn't require a bunch of huge expensive contracts to be competitive. As long as some of these young guys work out, we'll just have to supplement a few veterans here and there to field a contending team. The key to our success will depend upon our young players, not our payroll.

    I think it will be Castro most days with Lee as a backup to 2nd SS and 3rd. He needs to play everyday though at this point. I think by the end of the year we see Keaschal. Long term, our best defensive alignment is probably 1b - Lewis 2b - Keaschal SS - Correa 3b - Lee Utility - Eeles, Castro. I think that's a pretty good looking infield.

    I just had to laugh when I heard the news that our top 3 prospects were already hurt. We always seem to have our top guys injured, but this year we couldn't even make it to opening day? Is this a precursor to losing some combo of Buxton Correa and Lewis on opening day like last year? What is it with this team that we can't seem to keep anyone healthy? At least most of these injuries seem minor,but so did Jenkins ' hamstring last year and look how long he was out....

    I think we did ok long term. It's not like we were going to sign Garver long term.

    After his struggles last year, I think he should start the year in St. Paul playing everyday at first and second. See if he can first, find a defensive home where he's good enough. More importantly, can his bat improve enough to earn a call-up. I think Lee, Castro and eventually Keaschal and possibly Eeles will surpass him on the depth chart pretty soon unless he can show significant improvement.

    I'd rather see Keirsey start the year off as the 5th OF instead of Martin. Keirsey would offer better defense, speed and more power. He could also steal some bases for us which is something we lack in. Starting the year in AAA would also allow Martin to play everyday in the outfield, hopefully improving his defense out there enough to where he will be serviceable in the major league outfield. Of course the front office seems so low on lefties for some reason. They almost always go with the right handed option when given a choice. most pitchers are right handed, I don't get it....

    Keaschal has a great future ahead of him and I hope to see him on the Twins in '25. I do think he needs a little time in AAA though, if only to get some defensive innings. The team needs to figure out one or two positions for him to focus on. His bat will play, he just needs a home on the diamond. Seeing as first and second base are our most unproven positions, I'd put him there.

    I don't like Wallner in the leadoff spot. Sure he had a high OBP but that was mostly because he got hit by so many pitches. He's probably our best power hitter so they should have him in the middle of the order to knock in more RBI's. I'd rather see switch hitting Castro, or eventually Keaschal hitting leadoff. We've got to find a way to get guys on base for our big hitters in Buxton, Correa and Lewis.

    I sure hope he can play a role this year. If this is the year he finally stays healthy and pitches like he used to it'll give us another high leverage weapon out of the pen. We've seen how an elite bullpen can help a team win.

    I imagine he'll get every opportunity to run with the #5 rotation spot because of his contract. If Festa or Mathews looks ready to get called up early on though it could make things interesting, especially if Pdddack struggles as a starter early on. The easy move would be to call up Festa and move Paddack to the pen. Our bullpen is pretty full at the moment though, which makes me think a trade could be in order. Maybe try to put together a trade with PHI to allow us to keep Castellano? Maybe offer Paddock to whoever will give us something in return along with salary relief to use at the deadline.

    Nice to see Zebby hitting 97 MPH. With his great control, a few mph added to his stuff could really up his game. I'm excited to watch the game today and see how Festa looks. I'm sure we'll see both these guys in the majors again this year. Also cool to see Keaschal get a hit. A lot of people want to see him conquer AAA before getting called up, but I think if he's our best option to man 2nd base then why wait. Our pitching should be solid but we'll need all the offensive help we can get.

    I just hope whoever buys the team legitimately wants to win and is willing to spend money to do so. MN fans have suffered a long time with the Pohlads, we deserve some relief

    I am really glad we got Coloumbe and don't need to rely on Funderburk as our number one lefty. That said, Coloumbe is gone next year so hopefully with a full, healthy year in AAA with maybe an occasional cup of coffee, Funderburk will be ready to compete for a starting role in the pen next year

    Hopefully he is able to go full bore this year and put in 150 innings of productive ball. If he can prove he's healthy and can handle a starters workload, he should be competing for a rotation spot next year. Hard to not be cautiously optimistic about this pitching pipeline.

    Still holding out hope for a sale to go through sometime this year to an owner dedicated to regaining the trust and backing of MN fans. Someone who wants to actually win and is willing to spend more to get there. In a winnable division, another 30-50 million would go an awful long way. Imagine a lineup with Correa, Buxton, Lewis and someone like Guerrero/Alonzo or some other all star power hitting 1b.

    I think the twins will give Castellano every opportunity to stick in the pen. They are using a roster spot on him, he's one of our top pitching prospects now and he has great potential as a starter down the road. It sounds like Stewart might start the year on the IL which should open a spot for Alcala, leaving Topa and Varland pitching for St Paul, likely first men up. Alcala was misused last year. Hopefully they learned from that because of used correctly, he has the potential to be one of our best late inning options.

    I'm not sure what it is. Is our medical team lacking in it's injury prevention practices? Do we just tend to draft and aquire injury prone guys? Is it all just bad luck year after year? I don't know how our prospect injuries compare to other teams, but it sure seems like one or two major injuries is a hurdle each and every one of our guys will have to go through at some point just to make the team. Hopefully Rodriguez can get healthy ASAP and start tearing up AAA pitching along with Keaschal and Eeles. I think all three of those guys has a chance at a mid to late season call up if they're hitting well enough

    If we believe we need even more SP depth then lefty Quintana could probably be had for a few million. I say trade Paddack along with a prospect or two for offensive help and then sign Quintana to be our #5. Doubt this will happen, barring major injuries I think our roster is pretty well set

    Julien is young enough and talented enough that I'm not ready to give up on him yet after only one bad year. However, unless he totally years it up in spring training, I'm starting him at St. Paul and making him earn his way back. His defense anywhere will never be great, and with plenty of other options at first and second base, Julien's bat is going to need to be his calling card. This is likely his last chance to earn a spot on the big league club as he's out of options after this year. I wish him the best. If he hits like he did in 23, the roster crunch gets interesting with Castro, Lee, Keaschal and Eeles all vying for at bats in the infield.

    Lewis' career has been one of extremes. We've seen a potential power hitting MVP type of player in short stints and we've seen the ultra injury prone, slump prone bust. I think this year will be important to prove he can stay healthy and show the team what kind of player he is. Keeping him at third base is a good move. Let him focus on health and consistency. A productive Lewis is a major boon for this team and lengthens the lineup significantly.

    Everyone seems to be ready to hand Rodriguez and everyday OF job, but the kids only played 47 games last year, most of them in AA. He's never even played half a season as a pro. Let's temper the expectations a bit and hope for a full healthy year of production first, then talk about a possible September call up. Keaschal seems more likely to get his debut first. With all the questions marks at first and second base, if Keaschal's bat looks ready, I could see him making his debut fairly early

    Fundamentals, athleticism, defense, and situational hitting all should be worked on and improved. We need to be able to move runners over and get hits with RISP. We do not have an elite offense, which makes these skills even more important. Cleaning up our defense will also help out a lot of our young pitchers who will not doubt be throwing innings for us at some point this year. My main concern is Rocco sticking with struggling veterans for way too long when there are other options. France, Bader, Paddack.... Give them their fair shake, but if they're not cutting it, next man up.
