  1. Big NO to either of these guys. They can't hit or play a solid SS. Why is Lee all of a sudden not an option for backup to Correa? He was drafted and played short in the minors. Even Castro would do in a pinch. I'm guessing they want Lee at 2nd and Castro in the OF. I understand wanting a solid SS to backup Correa, but there's got to be better options. Eeles? Helman would have been ok short term, I can't believe they let him go for cash considerations only... Hopefully a trade is coming for Cease or a first baseman.
  2. I like the Coulombe signing, but Bader is just a depth move. Unless we make a trade to acquire a first baseman or Dylan Cease, I think anyone besides CHI could win this division.
  3. I would have thought we could have gotten something for Helman. Can play multiple positions and hit really well this year. .270/.350, 14 HR and 17 SB in about 70 games in AAA. Those are good numbers, and he's right handed. Could he have been an OF option for us? I think he could have been better served as part of a trade package for Cease.
  4. I think he would greatly improve our team. Could have him play first and let Miranda DH. Depends on what BAL wants in return. Maybe give them Paddack and a top 10 prospect? Maybe Mathews/Raya and prospect? Let's get it done, this lineup needs another bat!
  5. Bader improves our athleticism, Speed and defense. He'll be a capable Buxton backup and decent platoon partner in the corners. He should hit a few bombs while stealing some bases. I like the signing. Now we need a big bat, most likely at first base. Cease would be great, but I think our offense needs more improvement than our pitching.
  6. I would love it if we could get Cease. We'd have one of the best pitching staffs, rotation and bullpen, in the game. I think we need a big bat more than we need pitching though, and first base would be the best place to upgrade. Diaz, MountCastle, Casas.... There are options out there, let's get it done!
  7. I like the signing. Buxton insurance and platoon partner in the corner OF. He may not have the best bat, but he'll run into an occasional HR. Most importantly, he'll give us good defense and speed on the bases. Him and Castro might be our only base stealers. We needed to improve the teams athleticism, defense and speed. Bader helps with all that. As long as we don't have to rely on him as an everyday OF for long stretches of time, this should improve the team. Now let's go get Cease and call it an off-season!
  8. I hope Lee can find his bat this year, but until he does, Castro might be our best option at 2nd base. I also think adding Cease to our rotation would give us one of the better pitching staffs in baseball. Give SD SWR or Mathews, Paddack and Julien/Castro/Keirsey/Martin
  9. So Keirsey won't see MLB again this year?
  10. I think we could do better. A 35 year old corner OF/1b with no power and below average hitting? Just because he's right handed and could play the two positions we need help at, doesn't mean he would upgrade who we already have. Numbers are similar to what Martin or Keirsey could probably put up in the OF. Miranda will surely put hit him and maybe even Julien too. I say pass. Should be someone better available in FA or in a trade.
  11. Coulombe was a good move. Cheap contract that filled a major hole in our pen. If he's healthy, he'll be a major asset to our relief core. If we move one of Paddack or Vasquez next, we should have plenty of cash left to sign a RH OF bat. The question is whether or not any will be left in free agency by then, or will we have to go the trade route?
  12. I'd be cool with Cease and maybe a prospect for SWR/Mathews, Larnach/Castro and Paddack.
  13. I'm hoping Eeles makes the team as a second baseman/utility guy. He could be a poor man's Altuve :)
  14. I think they might work out a trade with PHI for Castellano so they can send him to AA. Then maybe set up a trade for a bat. If not, I expect Headrick or Funderburk could be DFA'd and probably passed through waivers. I don't risk losing Canterino unless he's for sure hurt again as he might have some of the best stuff in our system. We should see some moves in the next week or so. Finally a bit of action 😆
  15. I think Spring Training will sort out the abundance of pitchers. Castellano's was PHI minor league pitcher of the year in '24. If he looks good in Spring I expect they make a trade and send Castellano to AA or AAA. That's one spot. I think a trade could probably net us at least one bat for our lineup either a platoon at first or in the OF. We all know injuries happen too. I just do not believe the MN Twins will have TOO MANY healthy and effective pitchers all year, no way. Injuries and inefficiency happens. It will work itself out. Btw, this is a good problem to have. Look what CLE did with a great pen last year.
  16. As good as they are, we need to keep them healthy which means not overusing them or misusing them. Duran does best in save situations. Jax should be used in late game situations in high leverage, not bulk innings in the middle of the game. Our relievers need clear cut roles and Rocco needs to use them as such. Alcala did great in one inning stints, yet Rocco kept throwing him out there for two or three innings? These kind of things and pitcher roles need to be worked out by the end of spring training. Oh, and Varland has no business trying to be a starter anymore. Let him let it fly in the pen.
  17. I think both Lewis and Miranda should be interchangeable at 1st/3rd base. Lee should be 2nd/SS. Julien can be 2nd or 1st. Keaschal, Eeles and Castro can cover everywhere else in the IF. OF can be covered with Larnach, Buxton, Wallner, Castro, and Kiersey/Martin/Rodriguez. I do think it would greatly help our defense if the players positions were a little more consistent and they didn't have to wonder where they were going to be playing each and every day.
  18. I do think our pen is in a good spot, but that doesn't mean we couldn't upgrade. A solid LHRP would be nice. We also have a lot of candidates that could earn a spot in ST or throughout the year. Varland, Canterino, Prelipp, Headrick, Henriquez or any of our up and coming starting pitchers. Maybe guys like Adams, Raya, Culpeper or someone else gets their cup of coffee in the pen. You can never have too much pitching. I do think at least one addition would be helpful.
  19. He could be an intriguing option at first base. Would be nice if he was a decent catcher so that he could replace Vasquez, but it sounds like the Twins don't view him as a catcher. ST will be interesting.
  20. Mildly exciting move could be to use the cash and sign a lefty for our pen. I'd be fine with Columbe or Andrew Chafin. Both would be a good reliever that would be able to out pitch both lefties currently on our roster. More exciting move would be to salary dump Paddack or Vasquez then use the cash to sign the polar bear. Give him a 3 year offer with some options outs. Then maybe use some combo of Julien/Miranda as trade bait for more pitching. Won't happen, but it's fun to speculate. I actually think someone nicknamed the polar bear would be a great fit in MN. Plus, he's the big RH power bat that we need. A lineup with Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Alonso and Wallner?! That's intimidating actually!
  21. I think both Prelipp and Canterino should be given an opportunity to earn a bullpen spot in Spring training. Both these guys have insane stuff, just need to stay healthy. Sound familiar?
  22. Hopefully he can stay healthy and put together a full breakout season, maybe getting a call up to AAA which would leave him battling for a spot on the big league roster in 2026 :) As long as the Twins don't screw up his swing like they did with Austin Martin trying to change him into a strikeout prone home runs hitter.
  23. He's obviously not a fit for our OF since we already have similar players in the corners with Larnach and Wallner. Getting a power bat to split time and platoon first base with Miranda though could be a nice fit. Pretty sure with ample at bats this guy would outhit Mickey Gasper or the other minor league nobody we picked up as depth. Trades like this could really upgrade the team. Although the fact he's lefty and the fact that he would improve the first base situation tells me there's no way it'll happen. Maybe if they'll give him to us for Paddack or Vasquez;)
  24. I hope all these young guys have great breakout years, because we're going to need them. With literally no help coming from free agency or trades this off-season, it's going to be up to our young guys and prospects to carry this team once Correa Buxton and Lewis are all on the IL by mid May or early June lol.
