Hopefully Keaschal continues to take and get more reps at second base. Maybe he's able to make his debut sometime around the all-star break? Mccusker sure looks like he's off to a good start. Another power hitting OF. What we need is IF who can both hit and play good defense. Getting Lewis and Lee back should help, but I still feel like Keaschal could help our lineup. Too bad Eeles is hurt, he could have been a real spark plug type guy for us. Is there any time table on his return yet? Good to see Soto having success. Hard not to be encouraged by all our young pitching. Do we eventually dip into all this pitching to acquire some offensive help this year?

I will admit he has looked much better at the plate in SSS this year, even though it seems his power has suffered. Hopefully he can keep it up because his only strength and ticket to playing time is his bat. He is borderline unusable at second base, way too many errors. Every ball hit his way makes you worry. I think his only option going forward is to learn first base or be relegated to DH. It will be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out when Brooks Lee gets activated.

I am disliking Rocco more and more as this horrible season goes on. Pulling him after 73 pitches after only giving up one run with an overworked bullpen? He forces Ober out there when he's sick and weak, but then pulls him when he's healthy and effective. Of course none of this matters if we can't score runs but come on, it sure doesn't help. I'm officially on the fire Rocco bandwagon. He seems to not only make dumb decisions, but since last year's free fall he gets the absolute worst out of our guys. Need some new blood on this team. Both in the coaches box and on the field.

I know it's still early and the Twins won't make this call for awhile, but Raya sure seems like he's destined for the pen. Maybe he learns to be more efficient and keeps a rotation spot but right now he looks like a reliever. Good to see Gabby Gonzalez get off to a good start after a down year last year. Besides Topa, Gonzalez is our only hope of getting something out of the Polanco trade last year. Martin sure looked like he figured things out at the plate and was primed for a call up. He would hit and field much better than Julien and Gasper at second base so of course he got hurt. Hopefully he won't be out too long but it didn't look good. Two weeks in and we're already dipping in to our pitching pipeline. How long until we start calling up some position players to try and get some offense?

I know it's still early, but this is exactly the same kind of play that we suffered through last September. The defense is pathetic, we cannot continue putting Gasper and Julien out there anywhere. Did everyone see Julien's bellyflop slide at home lol? Not sure why our guys can't seem to hit. Wallner and France seem to be doing good. Bader started off strong but is a K machine lately. Everyone else looks completely lost. Miranda swings at anything within a 5 foot radius of the plate and Correa hits 90 percent of his balls on the ground right to the SS. Watch, he's going to lead the league in double plays hit into this year. Changes are needed. Fire Rocco, send down Julien, Gasper, maybe eventually Miranda for a reset. Might as well let the young guys play and see what we have for next year. Unfortunately I see a rebuild coming.

Festa got LIT UP in his last start. Something like 10 hits in 3+ innings. It is only April, why should our pitchers need an extra day of rest after only two starts? I would rather they stay on the same schedule and when Lopez's turn comes up, give it to Zebby. He is lined up perfectly anyways. I'd also give Paddack one, maybe two more starts to prove he can get it together. If he can't, send him to the pen and give Morris or Festa their shot. I knew we'd be tapping into our highly touted pitching pipeline this year, just didn't know it would be in the first two weeks of the season. Not a good sign.....

Ownership has absolutely tanked fan support the last few years. Cutting payroll at the worst time, the blackouts and TV debacle, refusing to improve the team. Can they really be surprised nobody wants to spend their hard earned money to come watch a team that looks and plays like a little league team? Winning teams sell tickets. Exciting teams sells tickets. The twins are neither. They are a losing, uncoordinated group of guys that play low energy robotic baseball. Nobody wants to see that. Even watching them on TV for free makes me want a refund!

Looks like Mathews will probably get 2 or 3 starts while Lopez is on the IL. My guess is Paddack gets a few more starts to prove he belongs. I'd rather see him moved to the pen and give Festa or Morris a shot. Why is it that ALL of the Twins ' top prospects are so injury prone? Is it a curse? Do we just draft fragile guys? Durability is an ability and scouts and recruiting needs to realize that. You can have the best player in the world, but if he never plays a full season, is it really worth it?

Nice to see better defense and no errors in the field. Of course we made up for that with two inexcusable base running blunders. This team struggles with fundamentals which is really not a good look. Rocco needs to go......

While it's nice to see guys like Buxton being aggressive, the team overall still makes too many fundamental mistakes. Larnach and Vasquez making third outs in back to back innings on the bases is inexcusable. All this goes back to fundamentals which the Twins can't handle, whether it's base running or defense. This is on the players, but when there are no consequences and is treated like it's no big deal, that is on the manager.

Whom Should Brooks Lee Replace on Twins Roster?
LambchoP replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Julien and Gasper are black holes at second base. Lee should replace one of them, probably Gasper. Then when Lewis comes back, Julien can get sent down. I think Miranda could benefit from a AAA trip, but there's really nobody to replace him other than Castro. Hopefully Lewis is back soon. Also hopefully Keaschal starts to play the field more often, as his bat could really help this miserable lineup as well- 91 replies

We better hope our top prospects pan out. Lee, Keaschal, Jenkins, Rodriguez. Also our "pitching pipeline" needs to show up. Without these young guys, we won't have a chance. With Correa and Buxton making like 60-70 million a year, there won't be any help coming from outside the organization, at least not with the Pohlads. New ownership can't come soon enough.

Zebby sure looks ready for MLB. I was hoping he could replace Paddack in the rotation, but if Pablo goes on the IL he is lined up to take his spot. Then it might be Festa or Morris replacing Paddack instead. Two weeks in and we are already testing our pitching depth both in the rotation and the pen. Going to be a long year guys..... Best we can hope for is debuts for all our young talent. Get some much needed experience for next year.

Twins look like a little league team out there. We already have a pathetic offense that can't score runs, but then when you combine it with a horrible defense that routinely gives the other team extra outs and runs, we have no chance at all. France can't hit, but he's at least looked serviceable at first. 2nd base is a black hole. Both Julien and Gasper have cost us runs with their errors and have no business being out there. Hopefully Lee is back soon, but I don't have confidence in his bat. If we're going to compete next year we're going to need new MLB caliber first and second baseman.

The lineup construction really doesn't matter when none of our guys can hit anyways. So far it looks like Julien and Gasper need to go. At least Lee and Lewis will replace them. Of course we're still stuck with France and free swinging Miranda. Offense as a whole needs a major shake up this off-season.

3 Signs Byron Buxton Is Finally Healthy
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's nice to see him healthy so far, but his uncompetitive at bats resulting in 4 strikeouts Monday night sure doesn't look good. He's a bit too much of a free swinger. Feels like him and Miranda may never walk again. Buxton especially just cannot lay off those down and away pitches. If I was an opposing pitcher I wouldn't throw anything other than sliders down and away until Buck shows he can lay off... -
Hopefully Lopez starts to warm up. We can't have our bullpen worn out by May....I think Paddack has one more start to prove he belongs. If he bombs again, we may see Zebby, which is a good move imo. A message needs to be sent to this team. Dumping Gasper and Julien for Keaschal and Martin might help as well...
-
With an arm like that I think I keep him a starter. He has ace level potential. Pairing him with Mathews, Festa, Morris, Raya, Soto and Lewis. Our SP prospects down the road look pretty good. Of course so.e of these guys will end up in the pen eventually. The way the season has gone so far, it looks like the pen may throw more innings than the rotation, meaning we're going to need a few long men to pitch multiple innings in relief. If Prelipp dominates AA for awhile, maybe he gets his debut in the pen throwing 2-3 innings piggybacking the starters. Or just move him to St Paul and keep him on a starters schedule. Whatever keeps him healthy, the Twins aren't a playoff team this year anyways
-
I know it's only ten games, but I think a message needs to be sent. Give Zebby Paddack's rotation spot and move him to the pen. Demote Gasper and or Julien and call up Keaschal and Martin. Show this team that results are expected and if you're not doing your job, someone else will get a chance to do it. This team has no energy or fire and it shows. No leadership, no direction. Total mess, really sad. Other coaches get the best out of their players. Seems like we get the absolute worst version of our guys. What's the deal with Correa? If he hits like this while costing the team 37 million? Lol?! It's not like you can send him to AAA. IL most likely, but then who plays SS?
-
With the disasterous start to the Twins season, I think pretty soon here Zebby should take Paddack rotation spot and move Paddack to the pen as a long man. If Keaschal keeps hitting they should call him up to play second base everyday. Julien or Gasper can go down to AAA. With Keaschal at 2nd, Lee can take over 3rd base until Lewis comes back. This would help our terrible defense too.

He sure has been fun to watch so far. This team needs guys like this that give 100 percent and play with energy. The rest of the team looks like they are just counting down the innings until they can go home and go to bed..... Too bad Eeles is hurt, I really thought he had a good chance of being a spark plug type guy this year. Is there any return timeframe for him yet?

He has unfortunately turned into a one dimensional player. His defense is bad, base running is bad. All he's got is his bat, meaning he might end up being an everyday DH. Even then, you still have to run the bases. If he can't do that even without getting hurt, he might best serve this team by getting traded. Maybe he comes back from the IL and goes on an absolute tear for a month. Maybe someone like the Yankees or Mets will give us a top prospect for him before he eventually gets hurt again.
-
Wow, none of these guys would look good on a major league roster. Hopefully Lee and Lewis will be back soon to replace Julien and Gasper. That'd be a start. Then, if Paddack continues to struggle I'd put him in the pen as a long man and give his rotation as spot to Zebby.

Starters are not pitching deep into games which is going to tax our pen too much. Looks like we need one, probably two long men in the pen if this is going to continue. I think some combo of Dobnak, Mccaghan and Paddack in the pen with Zebby taking his rotation spot would be best. Stewart getting healthy or signing Robertson to a one year deal would certainly benefit up the pen as well. After the disasterous start to the season I don't see us spending any money on free agents unfortunately:(
