Rocco, and by extension, the rest of the team, just come off as going through the motions with absolutely no will to fight. Even after this horrid start there seems to be absolutely no urgency. I agree Rocco is not to blame for ALL the teams problems, but keeping him is definitely not helping. Besides, someone needs to be accountable for last year's collapse and this years embarrassing start.

It's fun to wonder how much better this team would be if we had taken Greene instead of Lewis. An ace at the top of our rotation to pair with Lopez or a guy who has become a professional IL placeholder:)

Can This Series Against The White Sox Jumpstart The Twins?
LambchoP commented on Chris Hove's blog entry in Chris's Twins Blog
If they don't sweep or at least take 2 out of 3 from CHI and LAA, Rocco should lose his job. Someone needs to be accountable and it sure hasn't been the players under his watch..... -
This home stand may determine the direction of this team moving forward. If we can sweep the six and angels or at least take 2 of 3 in both series, it may give the team some life and we can look forward to Pablo and Lewis returning. The fight to get to .500 is on If we lose 2 of 3 or get swept, that's pretty much a wrap on the season. Rocco could and should be let go and our players will be auditioning for other teams, hoping to be traded at the deadline. My guess would be second option unfortunately......at least with trading away all our veterans like France, Bader, Castro, Coloumbe, we'll get to see a bunch of young guys and prospects making their debuts :)

So far in 7 innings Prelipp has 13 K's to only 1 walk. I think he could certainly be a weapon in our pen in the second half if he can stay healthy. Gabby Gonzalez just keeps on hitting. Does he get a bump to AA at some point? Why hasn't Beltre played yet? His crazy power had me intrigued last year, I was curious to see what kind of numbers he would put up playing everyday.....

Prospect Retrospective: Luke Keaschall
LambchoP replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
He has been one of the few guys that are fun to watch. I just hope he can stay healthy. It would be way too Twins-like to have him hit at an all-star level for a few weeks then tear an ACL or something and be out for a year ala Royce Lewis :( -
All of these short starts are going to wipe out our relievers by the all star break. At least Buck and Keaschal are fun to watch. Might as well call up Mccusker, Rodriguez, Festa and Zebby and see what we've got for next year...too bad Eeles is hurt, I really wanted to see him play this year.

Keaschal and Buxton have been fun to watch. With Larnach struggling and now Keirsey being hurt now would be the time to give Mccusker his chance. Same with Zebby and Festa. Let these prospects play and see what we have for next year. Is there any info on Eeles and when he's supposed to be playing again?
-
I think the last thing Zebby and all our young starters need to work on is being efficient and getting deeper into games. We've seen what happens this year when our MLB starters only go 4-5 innings. We have to rely on way too many pen arms and eventually one of them blows the game. Zebby and Festa will be in the rotation for the second half is my guess.

Twins Minor League Report (4/18): Jason Doktorcyk Ks 10
LambchoP replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Mccusker sure is hitting like he wants a chance in the majors. If Larnach continues to struggle it might not be a bad idea to send him down and call Mccusker up for awhile, see if he can handle big league pitching. It sure looks like E Rodriguez is having a hard time in AAA. Hopefully he can turn things around, he's a big part of our future OF plan. Both Stewart and Tonkin on rehab assignment. That's good, our pen has looked pretty bad as of late. -
Awesome to see Keaschal have a great debut. Hopefully he can start to play the field more and force the twins to keep him in the lineup. Paddack is pitching like his job is on the line, which it should be. Jax is a little concerning. Sure looks like our pen isn't as good as advertised. Hopefully Stewart is back soon. Think we may need one or two more pen arms. Is Tonkin the guy? Prelipp could be interesting. Maybe Morris or Raya? Robertson is still a FA :)

There has to be a little concern when our best pen arm is getting shelled every outing and giving up games. They have to give someone else the set up role for awhile until he gets right. Sands would be the logical answer but he hasn't looked sharp either. Hopefully Stewart is back soon and can stay healthy. If Jax and Sands continue to struggle, we might have to consider calling up one of the pitching prospects from St Paul. Zebby and Festa will be needed in the rotation but Morris, Adams or Raya could help out in the pen this year.

Because it basically is the same year after year. Our hopes of winning are seemingly always based on our trip of "stars" producing on the field together. It's time to admit we will never get Buxton, Correa and Lewis all playing together, and even when we have two guys together like right now, they still aren't leading this team. Time to stop counting on them. Ownership needs to shake up the roster with real players. They cannot role out the same losing team year after year with only two or three marginal players being added at the edges. New ownership, new manager and a real roster shake up needs to happen if we expect a different outcome for the 2026 season. The pitching should be there, now we just need some offense to go with it.

This has me confused too. Does Raya really start to tire after 40-50 pitches? After 4 years, if that's what happens then he should be put in the pen. Soto allowed to throw 80 pitches even though sounds like they were pretty much all under duress. What is the plan or philosophy here?

Future rotation with Zebby, Festa and Morris. Few years later Lewis and Prelipp. Other possibilities include Dasan Hill, Raya and maybe the perpetually injured Canterino in the pen. Nice to see some home grown pitchers coming up. With the free agent prices for premium pitchers constantly rising, a mid level payroll like ours needs in house talent. Now we just need to find some offensive to support our pitching.....

Glad Stewart is pitching again, our pen could really use another steady arm. Mccusker sure is hitting like he deserves a call up. Larnach is in a real slump. If it goes on much longer I think a reset in St Paul could do him good. Reward Mccusker with a cup of coffee and see how he does against MLB pitchers. I know he's not on the 40 man, but Bride shouldn't be here long term of we can get some of our guys healthy. Is there any return timeframe for Austin Martin or Payton Eeles? Both these guys could really help. Same with Lewis, I just heard he's still WEEKS away from a rehab assignment. For a sore hamstring? These guys are supposedly pro athletes, and their young guys in their prime. They shouldn't be pulling muscles just running to first base and then taking months off to recover :(

Now that's how we need to play, with aggressive base running and real passion. Starting pitching has been great, just need to start going a little deeper eventually. The pen has been off and on, getting Stewart back should help. The injuries are concerning. Hopefully Wallner isn't out for too long and Correa and Castro can avoid the IL. If we have to rely on Gasper and the DFA guy from Miami we might be in trouble. Martin was absolutely raking in AAA. Hopefully he's healthy soon. Mccusker is hitting great too, 4 home runs. I know he's not on the 40 man but maybe give him a cup of coffee. Larnach sure looks like he could use a AAA reset. Rodriguez and Keaschal aren't quite ready yet.

The problem I can't wrap my head around is the injuries. We've got like 5 guys with pulled hamstrings. Do they not stretch before the game? These are supposedly professional athletes in their 20's and they can't run to first base without pulling something. I know injuries are part of the game, but it seems they are an even bigger part of the Twin's game since our "best" players are also the most injury prone. Since we will never have Buxton, Correa and Lewis in the lineup together for long periods of time, we will never see the true potential of what could have been. Durability is a skill, and ownership needs to start scouting for it

Who Replaces Wallner As He Goes to the IL?
LambchoP commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
Martin being hurt is terrible timing. He was the Saints best hitter. We really could have used another spark plug at the top of our lineup. Adding Martin to a lineup with Buxton, Bader, Castro and Keirsey really starts to look like a much more speedy athletic team, which is what we needed.
