Tonkin just might be done for this year. With Coloumbe on the IL and Alcala pitching way too inconsistent, I think the Twins are gonna need some pen reinforcement. I also don't trust Funderburk to be our number one lefty. Mccaghan has looked good in AAA, maybe he factors in. I also wonder if Morris or Adams might get to make their debut in the pen. I'm hoping for at least one trade deadline relief pickup. Maybe a set up type lefty as Coloumbe insurance.

I think both Miranda and Julien's stocks are dropping rapidly in AAA. Hopefully some other guys can step up and produce since the big league club is real short on IF lately. I'm glad Eeles is playing again. Hopefully he gets back to AAA soon and starts hitting like he did last year. He could be a real spark plug kind of guy at the top of our lineup. It never hurts to have another SB threat on our relatively slow team too ...

If Lewis starts to really heat up, he could help float the lineup until Buck and C4 return. I've been very impressed with Clemens also. I thought he was a one week replacement but he's played decently all over the diamond while putting together great at bats. If him and Lewis can get going, maybe an occasional HR from Mccusker here or there, we just might survive this injury bug.....

I think Gonzalez needs the call up to AA. If he can continue producing there, I'll get excited. It has been nice getting great innings from Topa. With Alcala being a mess this year and now with Coloumbe on the IL, our pen is going to be stretched a bit. I think we're going to need another arm out there, maybe try Morris or Adams in relief?

I'd rather see him actually get some consistent at bats rather than an appearance here or there. Keirsey cannot hit, give Crusher a chance to get in a routine and do some damage. I'm worried that with Bader hurt and unable to play CF, we are stuck with the automatic out of Keirsey :(

Twins have to find a way to avoid losing streaks while trying to slowly but surely get healthy again. Bader looks like he needs an IL stint but we just don't have the depth. I really am hoping Buxton and C4 can return after about a week. We need our best players out there. I hope Lewis starts hitting for some power now, he could really help carry this team for a week or so until reinforcements arrive. Bummer about losing Coloumbe. Alcala inspires no confidence. I think our pen is going to need some help soon. Adams or Morris? Do we look to bring in someone on a trade? Having another late inning guy would go a long way ....

Hopefully Coloumbe's injury isn't too serious and he isn't out for too long. He's been incredible and using Funderburk as our lefty is a step down from Coloumbe for sure. I'm hoping we pick up an arm or two at the deadline, along with a bat.

Twins Déjà Vu: Is 2025 Just a Rerun, or a Rewrite?
LambchoP replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think a lot will depend on how soon we can get our starters healthy and back on the field again. Missing 5 starting position players makes it hard to produce enough runs to continue to win. It's been incredible that we've been finding ways to keep winning with a lineup like this:) -
Can't believe we're doing this with an IL list of Buxton, Correa, Wallner, Keaschal, Coloumbe, now Castro beat up. Once we start getting these guys back and get everyone healthy and playing together, this could be a real fun lineup to watch, especially if Keaschal picks up where he left off and if Mccusker can be a true power threat:)

We all saw the impact Keaschal had when he was called up. Hopefully Mccusker can do the same. We just need to do good enough and keep winning series until we get our starters healthy again. Buxton, Correa, Keaschal, Wallner, Castro, Coloumbe.....you add these guys to a lineup that's producing runs with basically bench guys and we could be looking at a really good team in the second half!

Sizzling Twins Take On The Brewers for Rivalry Weekend
LambchoP commented on Chris Hove's blog entry in Chris's Twins Blog
Twins are really banged up. Opportunity for some younger guys, can we call up Mccusker now?! -
Would be great if Culpeper can develop into our SS of the future, making his debut around the the time Correa has to move to third. Either way, nice to see him doing so well. Same with Gonzalez, he sure is having a bounce back year. Nice to know we might actually get something long term out of the Polanco trade after all :) I'm a bit concerned about E Rodriguez though, he seems to be overmatched at AAA this year. I wonder if they'd consider a trip to AA to get his confidence back and get his bat going?

Very surprised we've been able to win so much with half our lineup as DFA'd and minor leaguers. Pitching is going to carry us. Just need to hold out until our guys get healthy again. Buck, Correa, Bader, Wallner and Keaschal. This could be a really potent lineup in the second half. Hopefully Mccusker is up and crushing too!

With Bader and Castro banged up and now Buxton and Correa both down for at least a week, we're going to be looking for offense wherever we can get it. I'd think now would be the time to give Mccusker his chance. We can easily move Keaschal to the 60 day IL which opens up a 40 man spot. Who knows, what if he continues his tear at the plate in the majors? He could be a huge boost to our lineup until we get everyone healthy.

If Buxton is going to be out for at least a week and with Bader banged up, now is the time to call up the Mccrusher! We are going to need help scoring runs with no Buck or Correa. A lineup filled with Clemens, Bride, Vasquez and Keirsey? Looks more like a AAA or spring training lineup. I checked out our lineup yesterday. Of the 9 guys in our starting lineup, ONE guy had a batting avg over .250.....not a good look for a team trying to make the playoffs.

This is getting crazy, Mccusker needs a call up now. Look at what he's done in AAA, it's past time to see what he can do in the majors, especially with Bader and Buxton banged up. Good to see Gonzalez having a bounce back year. Maybe a move up to AA is in his near future. Also great to see Eeles back. Hopefully he does great on the rehab and finds his way to the Saints soon. The Twins are suddenly very short on productive infielders. Raya looks totally lost this year, not sure what to do with him. Macgaghen, however you spell it, has looked good. He could help our pen when we need an arm.

He's still young. If he can find a way to be more efficient and get deeper into games he could still be a decent back end starter. If he doesn't make those adjustments, maybe his future is in the pen as a multi inning reliever. Maybe trading him would be a way to get some offensive help, especially in the infield where the Twins are suddenly very thin. I'd make sure we get the right return though. Other than Zebby and Festa our AAA pitching has not looked good. Our depth may not be as good as we hoped.
-
If Buxton or Bader are going to be unavailable for even a few games, Mccusker needs to be called up. Keirsey may be useful as a pinch runner and late game defensive sub, but he's not a starter. We can't rely on him as a starter especially if we also have to start Clemens and Bride. Having all three of these guys in the same lineup, especially without Buxton or Correa is going to seriously limit our offense. We're going to need some offensive help somewhere and Mccusker looks like the best and easiest place to get it barring any surprising trades. Good to see Eeles is on a rehab assignment now, but I'm guessing he won't be ready for awhile.

Crossed fingers that both guys won't miss too much time. We need them out there every day if we're going to keep winning, especially Buck with how he's been playing. If they can both avoid concussions I'd bet Buxton takes a day or two off, maybe DH's and then is back. Guessing Correa will take a minimum IL stint at the minimum, he seems to be willing to go on il more than Buck. Looking on the bright side, does this mean we'll finally see Mccusker get his chance?
-
Looks like it'll be Zebby pitching on Sunday. It'd be great if he can pitch a quality start and force the team to keep him up here. Sim needs to work on a few things. If he can improve his stamina and struggles second and third time through the order, he can still be a serviceable back end starter. If not, maybe his place is in the pen. Having a reliever who can give you 2-3 innings is pretty rare nowadays and would be very valuable. I don't think I would try to trade him. Aside from Festa and Mathews our AAA pitching has not looked good so far...
