  1. Sure looks like Ober isn't right and there will probably be an IL trip soon. Our rotation, which was a supposed strength with plenty of depth, has very quickly fallen apart. With no solid AAA options, and dumpster diving the waiver wire for bullpen innings, I think we may need to kiss the playoffs goodbye.
  2. I think we will see Morris and/or Maccaghen before anyone from outside the organization. I do think that at least one veteran SP is going to be acquired if the Twins decide they want to try to chase a wildcard spot. A rotation of Ryan, Paddack, Festa and SWR is not only not good enough, but it will blow out our bullpen by August probably.
  3. Well, at least we got something for him, he was going to be released for nothing anyway. Now we have another lefty in the pen who can give us some length. I hope it works out. Plus, now we have an open 40 man roster spot to play with ...
  4. Twins have a few guys on expiring contracts that we could probably get some value for. Vasquez, Castro, Bader, France. I highly doubt any of these guys will resign with us next year, maybe we can do a little buying AND selling this deadline?
  5. The problem is the injuries are starting to become a pretty regular thing for both guys. I'm still high on these kids and really hope they can develop into some great players, because the Twins are depending on these guys patrolling our OF for a long time. I think position player wise Gabby Gonzalez, K Culpeper and DeBarge have all been playing great and should probably move up the rankings, especially after Gonzalez and hopefully soon Culpeper move to AA. Prelipp and Hill have pitched well so far, just need to find a way to keep them healthy. I think Raya has lost some of his prospect shine this year, it's been real ugly. Hopefully a move to the pen helps.
  6. Adams needs to replace Alcala in the Twins pen ASAP. Kyle DeBarge having a great season, 33 stolen bases already! When was the last time the Twins had a potential SB champion on their team. Payton Eeles has been doing great since being activated. I know he can play multiple positions, just not sure how good his defense is. If Brooks Lee or Castro gets hurt, or struggles badly, I think Eeles could be a good table setter at the top of our lineup. Would have to add him to the 40 man roster, but I think that needs to happen anyway so nobody can nab him in the rule 5 draft. If he's even eligible yet, I don't know... Gabby Gonzalez continues to hit in AA. Hopefully he's a potential productive big league. Not much power or speed yet though.
  7. Embarrassing loss. First off, Alcala needs to go. Backing up the wrong side of home plate? Guy seems like a head case and his era is approaching 10. Try to pass him through waivers or trade for a minor league pitcher. Maybe we get something for him, maybe he clears waivers and we stash him in the minors. Either way, his roster spot has to go to someone else, most likely Adams. We need a guy in the pen who can go multiple innings and cover for the short starts we're going to be seeing. That stat line said it all last night, SWR is dead last in avg innings pitched for starters. He needs to get deeper in games, or be moved to the pen as a bulk guy. Either way our SP has kept the team competitive so far. Unless Sim and Festa improve quickly, I think we're going to drop in the standings real quick. Hell, if you look at the numbers, Jonah Bride has been a better pitcher and more efficient than Alcala lol!
  8. I think he's been a great one year holdover pickup, especially for the cheap price we got him for. He's improved his defense immensely and been one of the better defenders at first this year. He's coming through in the clutch and hitting with guys in scoring position. You'd like to see more power and home runs from 1st base, but for 1 million they've got to be happy. Imagine if we'd have had to rely on Miranda and Julien like they thought of doing. I do think the Twins need a long term solution at first, starting next year. Either move Lewis there, see if Larnach can do it, or they need to sign someone with some pop.
  9. Does Jenkins,or even E-Rod for that matter, deserve to still be numbers 1-2 after what we've seen this year? I don't think so. At least guys like Gonzalez, DeBarge and K Culpeper have had great seasons and should move up the rankings as they get promoted to AA.
  10. If another starter goes down I think they can kiss the playoffs goodbye. SWR and Festa have shown flashes, but they're too inneficient and don't pitch deep enough. Morris or Adams would probably be next, but I think it would be smarter to put Adams in the pen. He can piggy back Sim or Festa whenever they have a short start. Adams being able to throw bulk innings would save our pen also. It's past time to dump Alcala anyways. After last night's showing, how can they keep him on the big league roster. We sure are going to see if this so called deep pitching pipeline actually exists. Problem is, I don't see any of these guys becoming solid big leagues until we get down to Prelipp, Hill or Soto, and these guys are all still a ways off. Plus, with all the injuries, especially Prelipp, they may have to move to the pen eventually..... I'd like to see them acquire a starter at the deadline, maybe someone with another year or two of control, but it won't happen.
  11. Think it's past time. He never goes more than 3-5 innings anyway. Move him to the pen and see if he can be better there. Him or Adams could be very valuable to the Twins pen as a piggyback or multi inning guy. With SWR and Festa in our rotation, there are going to be some short starts and a lot of innings to cover for our relievers. No clue why they haven't dumped Alcala yet and given his spot to Adams, Mccaghan or even Morris or Dobnak. Someone who can pitch 2-4 innings in relief. After last night I think it's clear Alcala should be done. Anyone else see him trying to back up the wrong side of home plate lol.. the guy seems like a bit of a head case. Time to go, let's prove this deep "pitching pipeline" actually exists.
  12. I hope SWR can learn to go a bit deeper into games. I really wish they would have found a way to keep Adams in the pen as a long guy. I'm expecting some short starts from Sim and Festa, and having a long man to piggyback and eat multiple innings would be huge. Save our pen which is going to be overworked if these guys can only go 4-5 innings back to back.... A veteran starter at the deadline would be real nice but that's not going to happen. Twins will talk up our depth and play off getting Pablo back as our addition...
  13. Clemens is probably our guy until Keaschal comes back, or less likely, Eeles forces his way into the roster. One I jury in the infield can change all of this of course. I think Lee and Clemens will fight it out for the starting 2nd base job until one of them earns the starting role, or Keaschal comes back and immediately makes an impact.
  14. I'd love to see him get a shot in the bigs. Problem is, the Twins seem pretty high on Lee. Clemens has been really productive this year and Keaschal will hopefully be back soon. I know he can play left field, but who do you sit then? Bader, Castro? I could see him being a solid injury insurance type guy they keep stashed at AAA. I hope we see him though. A contact hitter at the top of our lineup with some speed who can steal bases? Would provide a lot more than Bride is giving us as a bench warmer right now!
  15. Why send Adams down, I don't get it? With Festa and SWR pitching in the rotation, there are going to be some short starts. We're going to need a long man who can go multiple innings and piggyback our young starters, otherwise our bullpen is going to be blown out in no time. Send Alcala to the IL if they are dead set on keeping him. Adams and Mccaghan have looked good in AAA and could pitch a lot of innings in relief.
  16. I think Prelipp and Hill are the Twins pitchers to watch. If they can keep each of them healthy and keep getting better, eventually these guys could be an amazing 1-2 punch in the big league rotation! Anyone know when Soto is supposed to be back? He was another intriguing young pitcher. Been fun to follow these guys because Raya, Lewis and Morris have not looked good at all. Mccaghan has looked solid in AAA. If SWR struggles in the rotation or Adams struggles as the bulk guy they should give him a chance. Is he already on the 40 man?
  17. It is obvious we need a legit catcher to pair with Jeffers next year. We are going to need a first baseman unless we move someone like Lewis or Larnach there. Short term, we need a SP and a bat. 1/3rd base is probably our weakest right now. I imagine a deadline just like last year. We'll pick up some nobody reliever who gets DFA a week later just so they can say they did something. With ownership up in the air and the way the season has gone, there's no way they're going to make an aggressive push for the playoffs.
  18. I understand the importance of all these new stats and metrics. At the end of the day though, the ACTUAL numbers and TRUE outcomes are what matters. It always makes me laugh when someone goes 0-5 on the day, but their expected batting avg was over .400 so they are doing things right lol?
  19. This season pitching has been our strength and kept us in a lot of close ballgames. Our SP depth is about to be really tested though. With Zebby and Pablo out and no AAA pitchers looking that great this year, I don't think we can count on our rotation to win us tons of games anymore. This means our weak ass offense needs to find a way to start scoring some runs. Deadline time we should be looking for a SP and a strong bat, no matter the position. That is if ownership decides to go for it, which I don't see happening.
  20. A rotation with Festa and SWR doesn't sound like a real playoff team. If Paddack regresses even a little bit, our rotation is in trouble. If they want to try for the post season this year, I think they have to look for a SP on the trade market. Don't see it happening though. Ownership will play up the return of Zebby and Pablo and say that is as good as acquiring new pitchers lol
  21. I think it was a real good move calling him up as a bulk arm. We're going to need someone to piggyback starts from Festa and Zebby since they haven't really shown they can go deep in games yet. Hopefully Adams gets to make his debut at home this weekend and finds some success!
  22. Twins pen has been great this year. Adams replacing Funderburk was a smart move. Now we have a long man who can piggyback short starts from Zebby or Festa. Coloumbe had a great rehab appearance yesterday. Hopefully he's ready soon and replaces Alcala. That would complete our pen and give us not a single liability out there. Then we just have to worry about our rotation and offense.
  23. Eeles sure looks good since being activated. I wonder if Clemens continues to see his numbers dropping if Eeles becomes an option for our infield. I could see him being a great spark at the top of our lineup, adding another guy who can cause some havoc on the bases. Bride is already a wasted roster spot right now....
  24. Concerned about our pitching. We already lost our ace. Ober's velo is way down. Paddack is bound to implode soon and both Zebby and Festa don't look quite ready for the majors. SWR and Morris are our only real AAA options and they haven't looked good either. With our weak offense, pitching is going to have to win us most games. Seems we are walking a fine line. If we're going to go for a playoff spot I think a veteran SP at the deadline or before will be essentially needed.
  25. An infielder, preferably a 1b/3b who can hit and hit for power. Do they have a good young catcher? Pitching wise we could use a veteran starter and another leverage arm for the pen, preferably a good lefty to pair with Coloumbe.
