  1. Eeles sure looks good since being activated. I wonder if Clemens continues to see his numbers dropping if Eeles becomes an option for our infield. I could see him being a great spark at the top of our lineup, adding another guy who can cause some havoc on the bases. Bride is already a wasted roster spot right now....
  2. Concerned about our pitching. We already lost our ace. Ober's velo is way down. Paddack is bound to implode soon and both Zebby and Festa don't look quite ready for the majors. SWR and Morris are our only real AAA options and they haven't looked good either. With our weak offense, pitching is going to have to win us most games. Seems we are walking a fine line. If we're going to go for a playoff spot I think a veteran SP at the deadline or before will be essentially needed.
  3. An infielder, preferably a 1b/3b who can hit and hit for power. Do they have a good young catcher? Pitching wise we could use a veteran starter and another leverage arm for the pen, preferably a good lefty to pair with Coloumbe.
  4. Dasan Hill with another solid outing. What to do with Raya? It's clear he's not cutting it in AAA? Do they demote him to AA or even A+ and try to fix his delivery or pitch mix? Move him to the pen and try him as a reliever? Right now he's not an option for a call up and I doubt with the year he's had that we could get anyone at all in a trade. It's not just him, but Morris and have also been lit up in St Paul this year. Doesn't bode well for this supposed pitching pipeline they've been bragging about.....
  5. I bet Wallner hits a few bombs that threaten to go just as far this year if he stays healthy and gets hot....
  6. The true test will be once he gets to AA. Let's just KEEP HIM HEALTHY! It's the one thing Twins prospects can't seem to do. Keep him on the field and he may end up the heir apparent to Correa at SS. Possible IF in a few years? Lewis at first Keaschal at 2nd Culpeper at SS Correa at third. Eeles, Winokur or DeBarge at utility
  7. Hopefully Adams replaces Alcala and can be successful as a 2-4 inning biggy back starter/long man reliever. Then, Coloumbe can replace Funderburk and our pen starts to look complete. The only question is the back end of our rotation. Would be nice to pick up a SP at the deadline but that is not the Twins' style anymore.....they will play up Pablo's return and Keaschal coming back saying that's all the reinforcements we'll need
  8. The combo of Mathews, Festa and SWR as our number 4 and 5 in the rotation worries me. I'm imagining a LOT of short starts, meaning we are going to need a true long man in the pen. They are calling up Adams. Hopefully he pitches well and can be that guy who can piggyback any short starts. Alcala and Funderburk clearly need to go. Adams should replace Alcala today and hopefully Coloumbe will be back soon to replace Fundy. That will help the pen a lot. I also saw Blewitt was released. Maybe we can get him on waivers and stash him at St Paul. He's actually looked pretty good this year. It's starting to look like our SP pipeline isn't what they hoped. Raya, Morris and Lewis are all struggling in AAA. Looks like we may need a SP at the deadline. That is, if the Twins decide to upgrade the roster at the deadline, which they haven't even tried to do in a couple years ....
  9. If Eeles continues to get on base at a good rate and can play solid defense at 2nd or 3rd, maybe they should give him a shot in the bigs. I haven't been impressed at all with Brooks Lee. He is good defensively, but at the plate he just doesn't hit with much authority. The last month or so it seems everything he hits is on the ground. Hopefully Keaschal can be back soon and continue where he left off
  10. He sure has been fun to watch. He's a pull hitter with some HR power. He is still striking out a TON. If he could learn to cut down on the K's and take more walks, he'd be a true stolen base machine. I believe he's 10-10 on SB opportunities this year. His avg is closing in on .280. This may be his best year yet. Let's hope he just stays healthy. He is the most important player on our team imo.
  11. It's a bummer about Pablo going down. Hopefully his IL stay is minimal. With both Zebby and either Festa or SWR, we may be seeing some short starts, which will be very taxing on our pen. I really think we need to call up a long reliever who can go 2-3 innings to cover for 3-5 inning starts from some of our younger SP. Funderburk isn't contributing anyways. Same could almost be said for Alcala. Try Adams or someone like Morris or Prelipp in the pen.
  12. Too bad our top guys like E Rodriguez or Jenkins are nowhere on these lists....
  13. Lewis needs a minor league trip. If he can find his swing and get right, it would be a HUGE boost for the lineup in the second half. I also think Keaschal will be a key player. Will be interesting to see how Rocco gets Keaschal, Lee, Clemens and everyone else the daily at bats they need. You don't want these young guys that are a big part of the teams future sitting on the bench getting sporadic playing time....
  14. I think the Twins need to dump Alcala and Funderburk, which opens up two pen spots. Hopefully Coloumbe is back soon to cover the lefty role but we have several options for replacing Alcala. I don't hate the idea of having a long reliever who can go multiple innings and cover the pen in the event of a short start. Someone like SWR or Adams could work. Otherwise guys like Mcgaughan or Stankawitctz. Eventually I think Prelipp could be a one inning weapon in relief. Either way it's time to try someone else, Alcala is basically unpitchable
  15. I don't think our SP depth is good enough to cover for Paddack, who has been our best starter lately. Festa doesn't usually go deep into games, like Zebby, SWR could be good but ran out of gas last year. Raya, Morris and C Lewis all are clearly not ready for the bigs yet. I agree we could really use a big bat, but not if it means hurting our pitching, which is our biggest strength. Maybe with a minor league reset, Royce Lewis and eventually Keaschal can be the big bat upgrade we need.
  16. Nice to see the offense come alive. Still think Lewis should go down to the minors for a bit. If he can find his swing and get even close to where he was early on last year, he could be the big bat pickup that we need at the deadline. You add a productive Lewis and Keaschal to this lineup and we might just be ok. I really like what Clemens has been doing, both defensively and at the plate. Rocco has got to keep putting him in the lineup. I think I'd have someone else batting in the 3 spot rather than Lee though. He has gotten some big hits lately, but it seems everything he hits is on the ground and just gets lucky they find holes. I'd move him down the order and France moves up. Guy has been an RBI machine for us so far.
  17. Culpeper and DeBarge have looked great in A ball this year but the real story has been Gabby Gonzalez. He hasn't slowed down at all since moving up to AA. Maybe he makes it to AAA this year? Pitching wise both Prelipp and Dasan Hill are very talented intriguing lefties. They both have nasty strikeout stuff but don't seem to be able to go more than a couple innings. Hill is farther away than Prelipp but if Connor can continue getting hitters out, maybe after a bump to St Paul, maybe a debut in the pen could be in his future. We need a good shut down lefty out there. Depending on Coloumbe coming back, he could be the guy. We all know it's not Funderburk....
  18. I think he needs to go. He's a liability out there, as is Funderburk. Hopefully Coloumbe can come back soon and replace Fundy but as far as Alcala goes, time to give someone else a shot. Like someone said, Kimbrel is on a minor league deal with ATL, if we have him a major league deal we'd get him for cheap. He's looked good in the minors this year too. If we can't nab a high leverage guy, I'd go with a long reliever. Someone who can go multiple innings to cover any short starts, maybe SWR or Adams. Either way, Alcala and Funderburk need to go. Sure looks like we shouldn't have let Ronny Henriquez get away....
  19. I love the idea of sending him to our facilities in Fort Meyers. Maybe they can help him get healthy and fix his mechanics. Once he starts hitting, move him up to St Paul. He gets his head right, gets his confidence back and then rejoins the Twins for the second half push as a great offensive upgrade. Right now he's nothing but an automatic out. Let Castro and Lee cover 3rd while he gets sent down. It's long overdue.
  20. I'm not convinced we have as much quality depth as people think. Raya, Morris and C Lewis have all been hit hard at AAA this year. Paddack's value is probably highest now with some regression probable. If we were to trade for a bat it should be a third baseman with some pop. Not sure who would be available and what else we'd have to give up. Let's wait and see how the team shapes up once Keaschal is back. If he picks up where he left off he can be a real productive 2 baseman. They could send Lewis down to St Paul to find his swing with Castro and Lee covering 3rd in the meantime.
  21. With the team struggling on offense, some changes need to be made. I'd send Lewis down to AAA after a 7 day IL stint. Get him off his feet for a week, then try to get right in St Paul. Castro can handle third. Lee should only be hitting in the bottom of the lineup until he can get his bat going. Maybe it's time to give Gasper another chance. He looks like Babe Ruth when he gets consistent playing time in the minors. Pitching wise, Alcala and Funderburk need to go. They are nothing but a liability. Hopefully Coloumbe is back soon to replace Funderburk and someone like Adams or Macgaughen can take Alcala place.
  22. They've got to figure out a way to get some offense. It's obvious Lewis needs a minor league trip. He's just another hole in our lineup we can't afford. Not sure who we have to call up that could help the team at this point, especially in the infield. Castro and Lee can cover 2nd and 3rd for now along with Clemens. Lee hasn't looked very good offensively either though. Hardly any power, all his hits are singles on the ground. If we're going to try for the playoffs, we're going to need to pick up a legit bat at the deadline. A good hitting 3rd baseman with some power would be nice. Hopefully Keaschal is back soon and can pick up where he left off.
  23. If we traded Paddack his rotation spot would most likely go to Festa. With him and Zebby in our rotation that would mean a lot of short 4-5 inning starts which would really tax our bullpen which is already getting overworked. Maybe if they put SWR in the pen as a long reliever to cover short starts this could work. I wouldn't give up good pitching unless we got a stud bat, which nobody is going to want to give up for Paddack alone. We could use a 1/3 baseman type or a catcher though.....
  24. Wallner getting doubled off at 2nd and Watkins sending a slow Wallner home with no outs were just inexcusable and might have lost us the game. Putting Alcala out there in a one run game was stupid too, we all knew what was going to happen. Alcala, Funderburk and Lewis need a trip to AAA. Problem is, I don't know who replaces Lewis as an infielder. Pen wise, I'd go with Adams or Macgaghen. Maybe SWR could be a 2-3 inning long relief pitcher for awhile. Would really save the pen some innings. We can't throw out Varland Jax and Duran every day.....
  25. Both teams have gassed bullpens. Whoever can knock the starter out early might just win the game. Need Paddack to go deep. Will be a tough task against Castillo.
