  1. Our young pitching has been concerning to say the least. Raya, Lewis and Morris have all really struggled. Prelipp hasn't found consistency yet. Hill looked great but he's hurt now. I'm glad we didn't trade away from our "pitching surplus". Fitzgerald has looked great at the plate. He also can play 2nd, SS and 3rd? Why not send him up to replace Bride? Lewis looks like he needs some time in AAA to get going. I think Keirsey is an automatic out at this point. Giving Mccusker at bats at DH and occasionally RF could be a boost to the lineup. Having guys like Keirsey, Bride and Clemens all in the same lineup is a recipe for losses. Still can't believe we pulled off a win with all these guys in the same lineup....
  2. SWR sent to AAA with Funderburk staying up to help cover innings in the pen. Guessing he'll be replaced by Festa or Mathews soon as they need a starter. Hopefully Bader isn't too hurt, but if he can't play for awhile I'd give the big man his call up. Keirsey is an automatic out at this point so I'd much rather see what Mccusker can do. It's also looking like Lewis needs some time in AAA to get the bat going. Problem is, there's nobody viable to replace him at 3rd. Miranda? He hasn't shown much. Someone from the Saints that's hitting well like Fitzgerald. Then you run into 40 man roster troubles.
  3. Bat speed increase or not, I don't have much hope for Clemens. He sure didn't look good at first base yesterday missing two easy scoop plays. I've got to believe there are better options out there for our bench than Clemens, Keirsey and Bride. I'd try Mccusker over Keirsey, especially if Bader will be out a few days. As for infielders, Julien or Miranda don't inspire much confidence either, but they're better than Bride right? We need Keaschal back. Suddenly our IF doesn't look as deep. Especially with Correa struggling still and Lewis looking like he needs some time in AAA, there's just nobody viable to replace him short term.
  4. If Bader goes on the IL, Mccusker better get the call. Starting Keirsey is a recipe for disaster. I cannot believe we pulled out a win yesterday with Keirsey, Bride and Clemens in the lineup. That's basically 3 automatic outs, we won't win many games with a lineup like that .....
  5. A lot of IF's, but if Buck can stay healthy and keep playing like he has and if Correa and Lewis start hitting, we should be good enough until Keaschal and Wallner are back. One move that could really help is calling up Mccusker. If he can translate his AAA success to the majors, having a RH power bat in the OF would really lengthen this lineup. I'd imagine he would provide more offense than Keirsey, Bride or Clemens. Why not give him his shot?
  6. I think Mccusker should get a chance. He's done everything he can in AAA. Keirsey provides nothing with the bat, he's basically a pinch runner and late game defensive sub. Having a potential RH power bat in the lineup would provide much more value. Look at what Keaschal was doing before he got hurt. If they still want Keirsey for late game, send down Clemens or Bride. With Castro back, our IF depth is set. I also think one of our AAA pitching prospects could get a chance in the bullpen. Alcala looks totally lost and Tonkin is not able to be the replacement. Adams is already on the 40 man and pitching in relief, maybe give him his call up ....
  7. Buck has been a lot of fun to watch this year. He is still one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. We all knew he could hit HRs, but it's been really cool to see him swiping bases again. I was starting to think that part of his game was done for. If he can cut his strikeouts down and learn to take more walks, he'd have more SB opportunities. I think if he can both stay healthy and avoid prolonged strikeout slumps, he could be an all star this year for us. Has he ever been an all star?
  8. Call up Mccusker! Keirsey or Bride provide very little to the MLB club right now. I've got to imagine a potential impact RH power bat would help the team a great deal more.
  9. We need all the catchers we can get....
  10. I'd love to see how Mccusker does in the bigs. If they don't want to lose Keirsey as the pinch runner/late game sub, then they can get rid of Bride or Clemens. The IF is set with Lewis and Castro back. Between DH at bats and a few starts in the OF, they should be able to find plenty of at bats for the big man. Give him his shot. Adding a major power threat could really lengthen this lineup.
  11. I think Mccusker has more than earned a call up at this point. They could send down Keirsey, Bride or Clemens to open a spot. Have him platoon with Larnach in the OF and give him DH at bats. If he looks like he can stick in the majors, might be a good idea to try him out at first base in the off-season. He's got the prototypical power bat for first base....
  12. Larnach has looked really good this year. Even getting some hits against lefties. I love that he's finally getting those opportunities. I could see a 25 HR season from him if he can stay healthy and in the lineup every day
  13. Need to get Lewis and Correa going at the plate. Buxton has been healthy and putting up good numbers, but he's too inconsistent to lead the team on his own. He'll hit 3 HRS in three days, but then Kin 6 of his next 7 at bats. As fun as he is to watch, he K's way too much without walking at all. His strikeout rate has to be around 40 percent now, against what, 2 walks all year?
  14. Well every twins fan knows that every ranked prospect of ours has to hit the injured list a few times before making the big league team. Hopefully Hill is getting his injuries out of the way early because so far in SSS, he looks like he could be potential ace material as long as the organization doesn't mess him up
  15. Raya has been very concerning this year. Might be time to try him as a reliever for awhile. Nice to see E Rodriguez hit his first HR. Maybe this is what gets him going as he hasn't looked great this year. Mccusker seems to have at least 1-2 hits every night, he has more than earned a look in MLB. As long as he doesn't pull a Gasper. For whatever reason Mickey puts up all star AAA numbers but can't hit in the bigs lol. At least Gabby Gonzalez has looked like he's having a solid rebound season. Maybe he gets moved to AA this year.
  16. Imagine where the team would be without these guys. Would be tough relying on Miranda and Julien at 1b and Keirsey as an everyday OF. So far Coloumbe has been perfect out of the pen. Still wish we had a second lock down lefty, but it's hard not to be happy with what these guys have done so far. Bader brings so much fun and energy to this team. He's been a blast to watch. Him and Buxton out in the OF is elite as can be!
  17. Buxton is playing at a true all star level this year. Now if we could only get Correa and Lewis going, the offense would be in a much better place. Imagine if we still had Keaschal hitting like he was and Wallner adding home runs every few games .....I'm still waiting for Mccusker to be rewarded with a call up cup of coffee. The guy has proved everything he can in AAA, time for the next test. Keirsey provides no value other than a late game pinch runner or defensive sub. Is that more important than a potential impact power bat? I'd rather have the bat any day ....
  18. Duran has looked great the last two nights, and really all year. He can still throw 101-102 mph which is more then enough. His addition of the sweeper to throw as a 4rth pitch is much more important than a few mph's of velo. His splinter has looked better than last year too. If he keeps this up he would probably be an all star if only he had more save opportunities. His numbers are all elite, but it's almost impossible for relievers to make the all star team without being one of the save leaders...
  19. I think Ryan is possibly our best starter, why would we trade him. More realistic would be trading Paddack or SWR along with some other pieces in order to get something decent back. If the Twins plan to compete, which they at least say they do, you don't trade a cheap, all star caliber pitcher that has multiple years of control. That said, we do need a catcher badly, but not at the expense of our number 1 or 2 SP...
  20. Prelipp with a good start. I just hope that they start to allow him to throw more pitches soon if the plan is to keep him a starter long term. The other way to go would be a promotion to AAA and see how he does in 1-2 inning stints. Maybe a bullpen call up to the Twins could happen this year. It sure looks like Tonkin is not going to be able to replace Alcala. Funderburk either. I think Adams or Morris would be a better bet to reinforce the Twins' pen. Oh, and give Mccusker a major league chance already! What more could he possibly have to do in AAA? Unless they are keeping him there hoping he continues to dazzle so they can trade him for some big league help?
  21. What will it take for a Mccusker call up? Injury? Keirsey is a non factor in our OF. Why not give Mccusker a shot until Wallner comes back? Could be the power boost that takes this offense to the next level ....
  22. I think Julien is a bust. He doesn't seem to have the instincts to be an everyday player. Miranda might have a better chance of getting back to the majors, but he needs to stay healthy, learn to be more selective at the plate and find his swing again. I think both these guys have dropped a long way down on our depth chart. Sure is a good thing we aren't relying on Miranda as our starting first baseman this year like was being discussed!
  23. If SWR is never going to pitch more than 4-5 innings then I think Festa or Mathews might be the better option in the rotation with Sim often coming out of the pen first as the long man who can pitch 2-3 innings when our starters pitch a short game. Which seems to be happening a lot. I suppose the same could be said with Paddack too. Either way, using 6 pitchers per day is not going to be sustainable throughout the season.
  24. Twins have been fun to watch again! Buxton being healthy and best hitter on the team brings a smile to my face every time he does something game changing. All three off-season acquisitions have been great, especially Bader and Coloumbe. The real test will be this weekend. Can we hang with a true contender, get some wins and get to .500? Or does our offense disappear again, we get swept and go on a losing streak? Hopefully Lewis and Correa can get going so Buck doesn't need to be the hero every day and we can keep this momentum going!
