  1. This team needs a real shake up. From the manager and trainers, down to the players. Unless the Twins turn the season around, Rocco is done for, which is probably a bit overdue. This off-season needs to be a busy one. Guys like France, Bader, Vasquez and Castro will be gone already. Guys like Larnach and Miranda who haven't panned out need to go. Lots of roster shake up and replacements need to happen. Some will be filled from within probably. Keaschal, Rodriguez, Festa and Mathews. These guys will only get you so far, ownership is going to need to make some smart trades and make some real FA signings, not just last minute bargain bin guys like they're used to.
  2. Whether Correa hits the IL or not, I think he needs some time off to mentally reset. Call up Keaschal. He can rotate between 2b and DH, allowing Lee and Castro to cover SS and 3rd. In the OF if Wallner goes on the IL I'd give Mccusker a cup of coffee. If Wallner doesn't go on il, I'd send Larnach down for a bit. Martin would be my first choice but since he's hurt, Mccusker might be the best option short term. I don't think Rodriguez is quite ready for MLB pitching just yet
  3. I've been wondering about Eeles myself. Seems like there hasn't been any news or updates on him at all...
  4. Zebby sure looks like he's hungry for MLB innings. Gonna be tough to keep him in AAA if Paddack continues to struggle. Twins need a shake up. I'd call up Zebby and stick Paddack in the pen. Send Larnach to AAA for a reset and give Mccusker a cup of coffee. If Correa goes to the IL give Keaschal his debut and alternate him between 2b and DH. Upgrade the rotation and maybe give a jolt of life to the lineup.
  5. After Correa went down, why was his replacement Lee playing 3rd base with Castro at SS. I thought Lee was Correa's backup and our best option for a true shortstop? Castro sure hasn't looked good on that side of the field this year. Hopefully Wallner is only out a day or two and Twins can build a little momentum and keep hitting. Starting Friday we play the struggling Braves. Could go either way I suppose;)
  6. I think it's hilarious that all we've heard all off-season was that Buxton and Correa were finally fully healthy. Correa felt good all spring training. Of course now that he's gotten off to the worst start in his career, we hear about a wrist injury that he's been dealing with since last year. I KNEW this was coming, just said it in another thread. An injury would pop up to allow the twins to bench him for awhile and he'd say he's been hurt all year using it as an excuse as to why he's been so horrible. I just think his best days are behind him. At least we didn't sign him to some 12 year deal.
  7. Long term I think Larnach should be traded. He won't hit as much as Wallner and we have Buxton, Rodriguez, Keaschal and Mccusker long term. Not to mention possibilities in Gonzalez, Rosario or outside additions. Short term I think he could benefit from a AAA trip like Wallner last year. Problem is, who replaces him? Martin was doing great, but of course he's hurt now. Mccusker? Do they risk putting Keaschal in the OF? Smarter move would probably be let Keaschal play second base, if his arm is ready, and have Castro play LF. I don't think Em Rodriguez is quite ready for the MLB just yet. Let him prove himself at AAA first.
  8. It is very sad that our SP going 4 2/3 innings is considered a productive start. We saw this a few years ago. Even if our starters pitch like all stars for just 4-5 innings that still leaves Way too many innings for the pen to cover each and every night. This leads to guys getting overused, ineffectiveness, injuries and most importantly, games lost. Pitching was supposed to be a strength of this team. Season already is looking lost so I would treat the rest of the year as auditions for next year. Call up Zebby Festa and Morris and see if anyone claims a rotation spot. Then call up Keaschal, Rodriguez, Mccusker, Martin and Camargo. Might as well see what we have for next year and how much we need to acquire from outside the organization. I don't know how Rocco DOESN'T get fired after this trainwreck season.
  9. I think if Correa and Buxton continue to hit like blind people, they should go on a "rehab" assignment all the way down to A ball like they did with Sano few years back. Get their swing and confidence back and hopefully jump start something because right now they are nothing more than expensive liabilities, especially Correa and his league leading GIDP. I say trade off any expiring contracts and vets at the deadline, get whatever we can for them and let the kids play. Give Keirsey starts instead of warming the bench. Call up Rodriguez, Keaschal, Mccusker, Martin and Camargo. Give starts to Zebby, Festa and Morris. Get the kids some valuable experience and get a good idea of what we've got to work with next year and where they have to go out and aquire new real players. New ownership would help. At the very least a new manager. There is no way Rocco can keep his job after last year's collapse and this years impression of the 24 White Sox.....
  10. Public perception of the team is at an all time low. Cutting payroll, TV problems, horrible play from our team, not attempting to improve the team. I don't see any way around a complete rebuild with new owners. This team needs a complete reset from the top all the way down. When your two "stars" are now finally healthy and playing together, but putting up the worst numbers on the team, changes need to happen. Maybe if ownership is straight with them and tells them of a rebuild or re structure, they waive their no trade clauses. At this point though, would we even get anyone acceptable back from Buck or Correa? Sad times for Twins fans. Wish I could just watch the Saints games instead. MLB.tv is supposed to have minor league games but I can never find them?
  11. Totally agree. Sure looks like a lost season, so they may as well plan on calling up guys that look ready. They have to let guys like Paddack, Castro, Vasquez and anyone else that is going to be gone next year play a little bit hoping they do well enough that we can dump them for anything at all at the deadline. After the all-star break though, let Zebby, Festa and Morris get some starts. Call up Rodriguez, Keaschal, Mccusker and Camargo and anyone else who is hitting and see if they are what we hope they are. The experience they gain this year could be very valuable when we inevitably are forced to start them next year.
  12. Whatever he needs to do to get back on the mound. Our pitching looks to be the only reason to watch the twins this year. If there's nothing else on of course...
  13. Mccusker and Morales have also looked good at the plate. Martin was getting on base a lot before getting hurt. I know he doesn't have power, but a high OBP guy with some stolen base speed could be a good table setter at the top of our lineup if he continues to hit well once he's activated. Plus, he's a RH OF which is important to Rocco for some reason lol :)
  14. I just hope they both stay healthy and play a full season for once. We may see Keaschal if Julien stops hitting and Lee and Castro aren't cutting it. We might see Rodriguez when Buxton or Bader goes down. He is hitting.237 so I do think he needs more time in St Paul. Keaschal is probably closer to being MLB ready, especially offensively.
  15. What is scary to me is that Miranda's offensive numbers are basically the same as Correa's:(. Really need to get him going and soon. At least Julien looks like he's found his swing. As long as Rocco doesn't put him out at second base to collect errors, he could be a boon to this lineup. Just keep him at DH or first base.
  16. Gonzalez continues to keep hitting, maybe he moves up a level at some point. In AAA it seems Rodriguez, Keaschal and Morales are the Twins' best chances of hitting reinforcements. Hopefully all three can stay healthy and keep hitting. I know Ryan Jenson doesn't have the best control but he seems to be a K machine. I remember him having great stuff 99-100 mph fastball when he was with the big club. Do we see him at the back of the pen at some point along with Dobnak and Mccaghan?
  17. Really sad showing on offense so far. Larnach looked like he was ready to break out early on, now he's doing nothing. Gasper and Miranda have no business on a MLB team. Not sure yet about Bader. He started out great, now he's a strikeout machine. At least he's solid defensively. Good to see Buck coming around. Low avg but he's at least got 3 hrs and 3 steals. Correa looks completely lost. He cannot continue to hit into double plays and kill any momentum we might be building. My guess is, if he doesn't start hitting soon, when Lewis is activated we will get a report on how Correa has been dealing with an injury all year and that's why he's sucked. He'll replace Lewis on the IL for a month or so.
  18. I just don't think Funderburk is a guy you want to rely on. Minor league depth at best. Coloumbe should be solid, but until Prelipp is ready, we could probably use a second lefty from outside the organization. Aj Puk would have been a perfect pickup for us last year.
  19. So all we have to do is bench Correa:). The guy is hitting like .160. worst avg on the team? He still helps the team defensively but man does he need to figure it out at the plate. Buck is only hitting like .180 but at least he's doing it with power and stealing some bases. Correa is doing nothing but hitting into double plays, hitting grounders to the SS just about every time. How much longer until we get the inevitable report that he's been dealing with plantar fascitis in his feet and that's the reason he's sucked so far. Soon as Royce comes back I can see Correa taking his place on the IL....
  20. Looks like Gabby Gonzalez is primed for a comeback year, would be great if he can keep it up. Great to see Prelipp healthy. I wonder if he'll get the Raya treatment and only be allowed to go 3-4 innings all year. Is that really the best way to develop a guy you want to be a starter? The other lefty Dasan Hill has looked great so far. I'm ok bringing him along at a slow crawl as he's only 19 and a rookie. If both these guys break out and stay healthy we could have a really good 1-2 lefty punch in our rotation in a few years. I could see Prelipp closing out of the pen eventually though, which wouldn't be a bad thing with all our other SP depth....
  21. Finally a move I agree with. Miranda had to be sent down. Both due to his ineptitude at the plate and Saturdays mistake. Finally some accountability. Lee probably won't help much at the plate, at least for awhile, but he should help our pathetic defense improve at the least. Hopefully Lewis and Martin get healthy. Keaschal playing more second base and continuing to hit would be huge too. Lewis can replace Gasper. Keaschal could be a big boost to the lineup. If Mccusker keeps hitting like he has been, maybe he gets a shot. I said this in another thread, we're not making the playoffs so might as well reward some of these guys doing well in AAA with a cup of coffee and see if anyone sticks. This would be the most excitement we can hope for this year I think :(
  22. Sure looks like the last two bullpen spots will be a carousel of guys constantly rotating in and out to get fresh arms to cover short starts by our starters. Maybe we see some position players call ups in the second half like Rodriguez and Keaschal. I wonder if Eeles will be available this year. Mccusker sure has had a good start too. Might as well let the kids play and see what we have in them. Season is all but lost anyways. I'm guessing we'll trade off any veterans we can at the deadline and recoup as many prospects as possible and gear up for a young inexperienced team next year.
  23. Doesn't matter how well our pitchers throw the ball when we basically have MLB worst defenders behind them booting and throwing the ball all over the field. I've never seen the Twins rack up this many errors in so short a time. Going to be a long year. Most exciting games will be seeing some of our young guys debut. Rodriguez, Keaschal, Festa, Mathews, Morris. Mccusker is sure hitting like he wants a chance. He seems like a RH Wallner kind of hitter. Couldn't hurt to try out some of these guys, it's not like the guys now are getting it done :(
  24. I think the team is more likely to be sellers this year if we keep playing like this and are out of contention in another month or two. Guys like France, Castro and Bader are probably gone. Pitching wise I could see is getting calls on Ober, Jax, Sands and Duran. I really hope it doesn't happen, but I can see a rebuild coming. It will be hard to do considering Correa and Buxton are locked in long term...
  25. Rocco needs to go. He is just making things that much harder on a team that is already struggling. Pulling Festa at only 66 pitches in the fifth? Now our pen is used up and chances are they'll need to pitch most of the game today with Paddack starting. Then in the last inning, Gasper, probably our worst bat on the roster is left to hit with the tying run on third? Why would he possibly pinch run Bader at first base rather than have him hit?! There has to be consequences for the errors players make, and the ineptitude of the manager. As we all know, that won't happen as there is NO accountability with this team. Just shrug your shoulders and keep on with the same problems, expecting things to miraculously turn around. Definition of insanity.....
