  1. We aren't trading Lewis anytime soon. He could be one of our best hitters, you don't get rid of a guy like that when we are desperate for offense. Luzardo would be great for us. He's left handed which is a look we don't have. He strikes guys out and is good friends and teammates with Lopez. Maybe working together, Lopez could help Luzardo improve his game somehow. Yes he had a down year and yes he's injury prone, but that is the only reason we might be able to get him. I don't think Larnach would be enough. Adding a prospect might do it. This would allow Festa Mathews and Morris some much needed time in AAA before they're called up. Larnach can be replaced with a free agent RH outfielder or some combo of Castro, Martin or Keirsey Jr, at least until Rodriguez or Rosario are ready. That being said, I highly doubt we do anything like this. :(
  2. I feel pretty good for our pen for 2025, but I'll admit a lot of things need to fall our way. The main one is healthy. Stewart, Topa, Alcala and maybe Canterino need to put their injuries behind them. We need no sophomore slumps or down years from our main guys, which is asking a lot from relievers. I think we have a real good group, we just need to supplement a bit to fill them out. Moran, if healthy, could be the number two lefty if he looks good in spring. We need to sign a lefty with strikeout stuff and some credibility. I'd also like to keep Tonkin but sign another right as injury insurance. I'm really hoping Canterino, and possibly even Prelipp can crack the roster out of ST, both could be a real late inning weapon for us.
  3. I think our starters need time in AAA to finish off their development and make sure their ready for the majors. Ideally, if we trade Paddack, we'd somehow sign or trade for a SP to put in the rotation somewhere so Festa, Mathews and Morris will have plenty of time in ST Paul to get themselves ready, with Festa probably being the first one called up. This is wishful thinking though. I'm guessing Festa will be our number 5 SP, with either Mathews or Morris being first in line for call ups
  4. I'd also try to trade Paddack and Vasquez for minimum salary prospects. Maybe throw in Gabby Gonzalez if needed to get the other team to take on Vasquez's full contract. This would open up about 17.5 million. I say use it to sign Christian Walker. We'd get a first baseman who can hit with some pop and also play gold glove defense. Plus, he's a right handed hitter. This wouldn't leave any money leftover for a fourth outfielder, but I think we got it covered with some combo of Castro, Keirsey and Martin. After taking care of first base all we really need is a lefty reliever for our pen and I'd be pretty happy about our chances in 2025. Of course I'd like a good SP to allow Festa to start in AAA and I'd like a starting RH power hitting outfielder, but we have to be realistic....
  5. Rosario and Olivar are probably safe as they both haven't played much above AA. I think they made the right moves as far as 40 man protection. I forgot Moran was still around. Hopefully he can come to spring training fully healthy and be one of the lefties we need. I still think we need to sign a LHRP with a good track record, but if Moran can put it together like Alcala did this year, our pen starts to look pretty solid.
  6. Sounds like a guy with real potential. Hopefully we can somehow keep him healthy so he doesn't miss major development time with injuries. He could be the RH bat that we need in a few years.
  7. Since we probably won't be able to do all three due to salary, the Twins need to upgrade one, if not two of these areas. First base, RH outfielder, preferably who can cover center field well enough, and a LHRP for our pen. I think the bullpen and first base should be priority since I believe some combo of Keirsey, Martin, Castro and maybe Mccusker can handle the 4rth outfielder role until Rodriguez, Rosario and Jenkins are eventually ready to take over.
  8. The organization has done a great job drafting and identifying talent from young pitchers. Lately it seems like they can get the best stuff out of these young guys, allowing them to move up through the minors league levels quickly. Now if they could just come up with a system or find a way to keep our guys relatively injury free and healthy we'd be all set:)
  9. I think Raya and Rosario for sure. Raya- is one of our top arms and Rodriguez has power that can be game changing, especially since he's right handed. I think the decision on Olivar depends on whether or not they think he can be a major league catcher. If so, he needs protection because we are seriously going to need some decent catching depth behind Jeffers. If he's only going to be an outfielder, we have plenty of those already. Maybe try to dangle him in a trade with someone else. As for the rest of the list, I think we're pretty safe not protecting any others.
  10. Good looking prospect. Twins sure do love to draft these athletic shortstops who always wins up elsewhere in the infield. His bat looks good plus he's actually right handed. I worry that we're going to have a bit of a logjam in the infield with guys like Lewis, Correa, Lee, Julien, Miranda, Eeles, Keaschal, Culpeper, Severino, Amick, Winokur, Doncon....of course we could trade some of these guys, and not all of them will reach the majors. Either way I can see Culpeper starting back at high A and ending the year with a good amount of at bats in AA.
  11. I would love it if we could get Walker or someone with pop to play first base, I just don't see it happening. My guess is, if everyone is healthy coming into spring, it'll be a platoon of Miranda and Julien at first, with someone like Keaschal as backup. An IF of.... 1b - Miranda, Julien 2b - Lee, Castro SS - Correa, Lee 3b - Lewis, Miranda, Lee Utility - Castro, Keaschal, Eeles Doesn't look to bad but if we don't upgrade first base than we need to upgrade the OF somehow. I know we can't afford to do both, but we need either an offensive first baseman, or a good RH outfielder, preferably who can play a good athletic center field.
  12. I think we should keep Topa. He's got decent upside now that he's healthy and he's cheaper than most free agent relief pitchers. I like most of these other ideas. Trying to sign Sazaki will be tough, but he could be exactly what this team needs, plus he would be cheap. I would hold off on extending Royce Lewis though. Until he can both stay on the field and put up good numbers for a whole year, he's another potential Buxton. We don't want to be stuck paying a lot of money for a guy who will always be on the IL 60 percent of the time...
  13. I would hold off on trading any young, controllable pitchers. We keep hearing about this new pitching pipeline and an abundance of depth. Until these guys actually make it to the majors AND find success, they are just prospects who have a better chance of flaming out than succeeding. I don't think our depth is as deep as some people think. Sure, we've got a good amount of guys in the high minors with good potential. Until they prove it however, I'm not counting our chickens. On the other hand, we really do need a first baseman with some pop, and with no chance of signing a free agent, they would have to acquire one in a trade. I just hope the player we get is an immediate impact bat with a few years of control if we're giving up young starting pitching which always comes at a premium cost.
  14. Twins need to ADD pitching, not subtract. Besides, a starter as good as Ryan with three more years of control and making less than 5 mil a year is what all teams hope for. You don't trade someone like that away if you actually want to even appear to contend. Ryan is a solid number two beside Lopez. I hope he comes to spring healthy and has a monster year. I think if we can find a way to sign a viable starting pitcher, our rotation could be pretty competitive. Festa and Mathews could finish up their development in AAA and get the call up when their fully ready. Knowing the Twins though, they'll do absolutely nothing and rely on in house guys that are going to be depended on before they are ready:(
  15. The Saints AAA rotation is shaping up to be pretty good this year with lots of potential call ups for SP. They should have Festa, if he doesn't start in MN... Mathews Morris Raya- Lewis Few more I can't quite remember. Hopefully some of these guys pan out and remain starters. Guys like Raya and Prelipp seem destined for the pen, which is always going to be a need as well.
  16. I think our pen could be truly elite. We just need a good late inning lefty and one or two additions like Canterino or Prelipp. Looks pretty good so far as is ..... Duran, Jax, Sands Alcala, Stewart, Varland Topa, lefty FA, Canterino Henriquez, Moran, Headrick, Prelipp, Raya...
  17. I don't like it. We have enough starters coming up through the minors that are going to be competing for innings. Jax is potentially our best reliever. We are one or two moves from having an elite pen. Don't mess with success as someone else said:)
  18. I sure hope Duran isn't traded. I don't think our rotation is going to be all that great. We have a solid 1-3, but SWR could have himself a sophomore slump with teams now getting a book on him. Festa and Mathews didn't look quite ready. Then there are the injury concerns. One way to make up for a mediocre rotation is with an elite bullpen. If we keep all the pieces we have and add a solid lefty reliever, we could be great. Add in a possible Canterino and Prelipp to our relief ranks and we could have one of the best pens in the game. It sure worked out pretty good for DET and CLE....
  19. With all our injury prone players all over the field I'd love it if we could keep Castro. We all know he'd have plenty of playing time with injuries and poor performance. If he takes a step back in production however, there are a few candidates like Keaschal, Eeles or Martin that could potentially replace him. Maybe we could trade him for a cheap lefty reliever that we really need. Fill a need in the pen and shed some salary to be used elsewhere. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do. My guess is Paddack and Castro will be gone for sure. They'll try to trade Vasquez but he'll be tougher. We'd probably have to attach a prospect to him to get a team to take on his whole salary, plus we have no viable replacements for him ATM.
  20. Much of Buxton's value comes from him playing CF at a very high level. Health is always going to be the question. He's going to K a lot and not walk at all. But if we can get 100+ games out of him we know what we'll probably get. A solid defender in CF and a good hitter that will help lengthen the lle lineup immensely. A.230-.270 BA, 15-25 HR and up to 75 RBIs. I'd love it if he'd try stealing bases again, but he hardly is ever on first base anyways, he could be close to the leaderboards in doubles IF he can play most of the year. We've got him for 4 more years. Keep him in center field where he belongs and get a good backup for him. Do whatever we can to keep him healthy and hit him in the middle of our order. He's one of the most fun players on the team to watch. Hoping for an all-star type year for Buck in '25!
  21. Rosario could end up being a great hitter. With his poor defense and super high K rate, I think we should try to trade him. Our other OF of the future Rodriguez also has strikeout issues. Between him and Wallner, I'm not sure we can handle Rosario being another high K guy in our OF. Trade him for pitching. As for Prelipp, I think him and Canterino, if finally healthy, could be major late game weapons as relief pitchers. Add one or both of them to the guys we already have and our pen starts to look like one of the best in the league:)
  22. I would love it if any of these guys could come up and produce right away in '25, but I just don't see it. Rodriguez has only a handful of at bats in AAA and didn't look great. He had a good half season at AAA but that's a long ways from being ready. Keaschal and Raya haven't even played in AAA yet, except for the five innings Raya threw at the end of the year. Prelipp I think actually has a chance as a bullpen arm, but he's still going to need to pitch in AA at the very least and prove that he's healthy and can handle a full season. If anyone is going to come up and make an impact this year I'd say it might be Keirsey, Mccusker, or Eeles. Keaschal has a small chance, and he could be the first baseman we need if he can outhit Miranda. I'm still surprised we let Severino go with our need at first base still unfilled. It would make sense if we were going to sign someone like Alonzo, Walker or Goldschmidt, but that's not happening.
  23. Rosario has been a fun guy to follow. He is the RH outfielder that we need. I believe he played in AA last year. Is that where he starts 2025? Any chance he gets a late season call up? I'm just hoping for a full, I jury free seasons from him, Rodriguez and Jenkins. Those guys are our future OF, and it can be a real good one if we can keep them healthy and give them the development time they need.
  24. Best reliever on our team with three more years of control. Trading him should get someone fired. Especially when you consider the fact we are not signing anyone of value to improve our bullpen, getting rid of our best arm out there would cripple our pen and entire pitching staff. We are going to need a very good pen in '25. We are most likely going to rely on SWR and Festa as our number 4 and 5's. Upon inevitable injury, Mathews will be back up before he's ready. This all means the pen is going to be pitching lots of important innings. We need to add and improve our bullpen, not tear it down. We all saw what a solid relief group can do in DET and CLE last year. With just a few additions we could have an elite group as well.
  25. This dude would be exactly what we need in the rotation. Being an amateur, he should actually come pretty cheap, meaning even our broke ass team can afford him. Will it happen? Hell no. He's going to the Dodgers to play with Ohtani and Yamamoto. Maybe someone like the Mets or Padres. The Twins, lol no chance.
