  1. We sure have had a lot of change in management at the top levels so far. All this with the potential sale of the team in the background. Will be interesting to see how all this drama effects the off-season. I sure hope they don't use all this chaos as an excuse to stand pat and not make any additions or changes to the MLB roster.
  2. We really should have traded Tanner Schoebel when he was at peak value. We've got tons of infielders and not enough roster spots, we could have maybe packaged him with someone else to get some pitching. I'm excited about Beltre and Mercedes. It's just too bad they're so far away from the bigs. A little concerning there are no pitchers on this list...
  3. I'm not sure I believe we're the fourth best team in the AL, but I do believe we have a good enough core to be a potential playoff threat. With just a few more additions I think we'd have a real shot. A power hitting first baseman, a RH hitting fourth outfielder, a SP and a lefty reliever for our pen and we should be all set. How and if we fill these holes with no money remains to be seen. I just hope they don't give up on the off-season without even trying to get better. Fans are pissed enough after last year's deadline and late season collapse. We deserve a little something that shows ownership cares about winning.
  4. Lewis isn't going anywhere. Even for a cash strapped team, you don't get rid of potentially one of your best players especially with years of control left at a super cheap price. I hope they stop with this second base stuff. Keep him at third where he's comfortable. If anything, maybe a move to first in the future. We have enough other options for second base.
  5. I think Eeles could be exactly what this team needs this year. An exciting fast player who plays with energy and intensity. If he hits well enough it will be nice to have a true stolen base threat on the base paths. I'm a bit surprised that they let Severino go, given our hole at first base. Maybe the resign him to a minor league deal and hope for a big season in 2025?
  6. So basically our options will be injured or coming back from injury guys, DFA candidates and waiver wire fodder. Sign a handful to minor league deals with spring invites and hope one or two work out. Not a very inspiring plan. As long as we have a relatively healthy pitching staff, I think we are actually pretty good. One more SP to allow Festa and Mathews to start the year in AAA and polish up their game a bit. A solid late inning lefty reliever and maybe a couple NRI and we should be ok. I'm more worried about the fact we need a first baseman and TH hitting OF.
  7. I don't hate the idea, but I also don't think Diaz could outhit Miranda in a full season. I think we need to try and actually upgrade our first baseman with Walker, O'hearn, Mount Castle. If we can't swing a trade or sign anyone then either let Miranda run with it or do what I think is inevitable....move Lewis to first, Lee to second, Correa at SS and Miranda at third. Castro, Eeles, Julien and Keaschal can all be backup IF.
  8. We do have holes on this roster though. I believe we need a starting first baseman. A starting pitcher who can slot in above Festa, allowing him to start in AAA and be the first line of defense for injury in the rotation. We need a good lefty reliever. A RH OF would be nice, although I think we could get by with some combination of Keirsey, Castro, Martin or Mccusker. It will be very disappointing if the Twins stand pat and basically bow out of the off-season just like they did at the trade deadline. Falvey needs to find a way to improve this team, as the AL Central is no longer a weak division.
  9. If we can trade Paddack, maybe we can get the lefty reliever we really need in a one for one swap. The other scenario would be trading him for some minor league prospect as basically a salary dump. If they go this route, the money saved needs to go towards a first baseman or pitching help.
  10. We can probably get the production we'd get from Perkins from Keirsey. He can play all three OF positions well too. Why the heck would we trade one of our best pitchers for a backup OF who can't hit? I think some combo of Keirsey, Castro, Martin and maybe Mccusker can more than adequately cover the backup OF positions at least until Rodriguez, Rosario and Jenkins are ready. I'm more worried about first base and pitching depth. A starting pitcher and a lefty reliever to be specific.
  11. Don't think he needs a spot just yet. Maybe if he plays as a full-time catcher next year and continues to hit well then he would warrant a 40 man, as we need a replacement for Vasquez and possibly even Jeffers in the near future. With limited roster spots, I think there are a few others who have earned a spot more and have a better chance of impacting the team this year and in 26
  12. Ticket sales and general interest in the team would crater of we got rid of one of our only "star" players. People come to the park to see these nationally recognized guys and if we don't have any, nobody is going to pay to come see what amounts to a AAA team.
  13. I think Lee is our best bet moving forward. He can also back up SS and 3rd. I don't think Lewis should play second. Keep him at third where he's comfortable, possibly moving him to first base where he profiles better as a power hitter. Hopefully Eeles and Keaschal can factor in somehow. Maybe Julien hits his way back to the majors. You can never have too much depth. Maybe we can turn some of these infielders into trade bait if enough of them are successful
  14. How is he an all-star with an ERA like that? Must be all offense in the AFL still.
  15. Twins need to improve on defense, get more athletic and inject some speed, energy and base stealing to the 2025 team. Keirsey could help with all this. I say give him the fourth OF job and let him play. Him and Martin should be able to hold down the backup OF roles until Rosario, Rodriguez and Mccusker are ready. Not worrying about the OF means we could focus on a first baseman instead. I like Miranda but don't think he's a good fit at first base. Christian Walker would be a great addition, if we can free up payroll to sign him for 2-3 years. On the trade front Yandy Diaz of the Rays would be a good fit too, and he's set to make only ten million this year I believe.
  16. If we have to rely on Festa or Mathews right out of the gate, I'll be worried about our rotation. They need more time in AAA, especially Zebby who was pitching in A ball last year. I like our 1-4 with Lopez, Over, Ryan and SWR. Paddack will probably be moved so I think we need to somehow grab a SP to be our number 5. Mathew Boyd could come cheap. Kikuchi would be great but he's too expensive. As long as Festa, Mathews and Morris start the year in the minors with Festa our first call up as injury replacement we should be ok. All this is assuming the team cleans up our atrocious defense somehow.
  17. The only free agent I'm expecting are the usual DFA or returning from injury type relievers. Guys you could usually get on the waiver wire during the season. We'll sign four or five of them to minor league deals with invites to spring and hope one of them catches on. Maybe if we trade Paddack and clear his salary we sign a legit major league reliever, but that will be it. Our first baseman will be Miranda. Our fourth OF will be Keirsey and Martin, maybe Mccusker. We'd better hope Lee, Keaschal and Eeles turn into productive players....
  18. I'd love it if we could get Walker to be our first baseman. We'd have to move Paddack and Vasquez's salary to do it, but it'd give us a RH power threat in the middle of our lineup with gold glove caliber defense. If we got Walker, a new OF could become less of a priority because of the offensive boost Walker would give us. Keirsey or Martin could fill the fourth OF position until Rosario or Rodriguez is ready. As for pitching, I'd love Kikuchi but he's gonna be fairly expensive but we could probably get him on a shorter deal. I'd also take a chance on Boyd. He looked healthy when he came back last year and he's maybe available on a one year prove it deal. Either way, some moves need to be made if they want to legitimately compete next year.
  19. My guess is a trade of Paddack will happen first. Probably for a mid level prospect, in effect making it a salary dump. Attaching a prospect to Vasquez would probably make him trade able and another possible salary dump but that will depend on the organizations thoughts on Camargo and whether or not he can step up and be our backup catcher playing half the time. I'd say no way, but what do I know? We've got to find some way to grab a first baseman, RH hitting OF, a lefty reliever or two, and a SP would be nice. That's a decent shopping list for a team with no spending power. Paddacks salary dump could probably get us the relief pitcher. Vasquez and Paddack might get us a first baseman. Will be an interesting off season. I just hope they don't basically bow out of the off-season and give us the usual "we feel good enough about our current roster, and the right deals just didn't come together, asking prices were just too high and nobody wanted to trade with us..."
  20. I think our best bet is to trade Paddack for a cheap reliever. Attach a prospect to Vasquez and trade him for whatever we can get. It would open up about 17.5 million. We could sign a defensive minded catcher for a few million and have cash left over for a backup RH hitting OF or first baseman.
  21. Twins need to clean up their defense big time. One way to do that would be to cut back on the platooning and moving guys all over the diamond. Not every player needs to be a super utility guy. Rocco needs to give our guys clear cut roles, naming someone the starter at each position, rotating out occasionally for injuries or for performance. Getting some consistency from one day to the next should help both defensively and offensively.
  22. I do not like the fact that he seemingly makes decisions based solely on numbers and probabilities rather than in game outcomes like momentum, player confidence etc. If our starting pitcher has just struck out the last four batters and is absolutely rolling with a low pitch count, but Rocco preemptively pulls him because he's about to face the lineup for a third time irritated me. I also don't like the constant platooning, pinch hitting and having most of our young players move all over the place defensively. Players have said it helps them tremendously when they get to play the same position and hit in the same spot ddy in and day out. With Rocco, our guys never know what to expect which has to be hard on our rookies and young guys trying to figure everything out at the MLB level. His use of relief arms is questionable at best also.
  23. It seems like just about every single Twins prospect has injury problems. Do we draft guys that are not durable? Is it our training program, focusing too much on power and not enough on flexibility and durability? Someone has got to figure this out. Buxton, Lewis, Lee, Jenkins, Miranda Rodriguez, Rosario, Larnach and Keaschal. Everyone we draft highly ends up having major injury concerns that follow them through their careers. Not a good look....
  24. I'd like Aroldis Chapman for a reliever. Him or some other strikeout type lefty. For SP I'd love if we could get Kikuchi on a two year deal maybe with an option out after this year. Mathew Boyd finally looked healthy and productive last year once he started pitching, he would probably be pretty cheap.
  25. I think we definitely need a RH OF who can adequately cover CF. Rodriguez and Rosario need more time in the minors, plus injuries and slumps happen. Castro can cover some innings in left, but we need a better option out there. RH OF and a first baseman should be our priority. Along with a LH reliever and possibly a veteran SP to keep Festa and Mathews in AAA at least to start the year.
