  1. We can't even afford Rosario lol. Twins will do nothing but sign minor league deals, stating our "wealth" of young talent as the reason for not doing anything. They will run out the same exact team that collapsed at a historic level and finished in 4rth place. But oh, we're planning on competing so make sure to watch and come to the games.....sad state of the team these days. Do we have new owners yet?
  2. Maybe he'll be our long man out of the pen since he's been a starter. I think the fact they are trying to fill MLB roster spots with rule 5 pickups shows us how active we're going to be in the free agent and trade markets. Nothing but minor league signing rest of the off-season is my guess. Pretty sad. A first baseman like Diaz should be attainable . Rays are always looking for pitching. Paddack and a prospect for Diaz would give us a starting first baseman that we need. Not holding my breath....
  3. This team needs to decide what they're doing. If they intend to compete, which they should since we have Correa Buxton and Pablo at their peaks, then they need to stop penny pinching and get on the phone now. Fill the holes in the roster with competent players and make a push for the division. Any playoff exposure makes them more money and more attractive to potential buyers. If we're not going to try and compete, then just admit it. Trade Correa, Pablo and maybe Buxton for all the young talent you can get. Either way they need to decide one way or the other. This in between crap is killing the team and alienating the fan base worse than ever.
  4. I love this trade. Gets us our lefty reliever and frees up some cash. Since Bernadino is under control for like another five years we may have to throw in a low level prospect to get it done, but I say go for it. That said, it makes too much sense so I doubt it'll happen. Falvey and sons seem to be asleep at the wheel and not motivated at all to make any moves. Almost all the teams that needed catchers have already filled that need, meaning Vasquez is going nowhere. Falvey should know by now the twins can't sit back and wait for teams to come to us, he actually needs to pick up the phone and get something started ourselves!
  5. If the Twins really view Brooks Lee as our third baseman, then they should just move him there full time and designate Royce Lewis as our first baseman. Correa is our SS for the foreseeable future which only leaves second base. Keaschal, Eeles and Castro along with Julien could all compete for the starting job there
  6. I think our potential backup outfielders are better. Keirsey, Helman, Martin and eventually ERod. I do think we need a LHRP for our pen. We do have Moran, Headrick and Prelipp that could make the jump. Maybe they bring Theilbar back on a minor league deal and give him one more shot. Either way, none of these guys seem worthy of a roster spot for the whole season without being able to send them down at all.
  7. It'd be great if the A's would take Paddack and Vasquez off our hands. That would free up 17 million and open up all kinds of possibilities. I'd use the money to sign Walker or Alonso to be our first baseman. Or, they trade with TB to get their 1b Diaz. Maybe trade for Luzardo or go after a RH outfielder. Either way, I'm not expecting anything from the Twins except maybe a dump of Paddack and minor league signings. Very sad....
  8. It'd be a great idea to lock up Ober and Ryan, IF we had the payroll space, but obviously we don't. Plus, I'd wait another year to see if Ober and Ryan are for real top of rotation main stays, and we'd have a better idea of what we've got in Festa, SWR and Mathews. How good the three of them project to be will probably determine how badly we need to lock up Ober and Ryan.
  9. He's not going anywhere. Correa is one of the few reasons people will watch the twins this year. If he goes, this team is completely waiving the white flag which would be the final straw for long suffering fans.
  10. Would be nice but we're not signing anyone. Our OF will be Larnach, Buxton, Wallner Castro, Keirsey, Martin, and hopefully Rodriguez by all star break.
  11. Hopefully he will work out and can be a solid bullpen piece. Or even better we get really lucky and he looks lights out in spring training and wins the number 5 SP job, allowing Festa to start the year in AAA. Wishful thinking, but it could happen. I'm betting we don't make one single major league signings this off-season due to supposed budget issues, so they might as well make like a dozen of these signings and hope one or two work out for us.
  12. Maybe see if Theilbar will come back on a minor league deal. I'm betting the Twins don't make a single major league free agent signing
  13. We all know we need to try to trade Paddack and Vasquez. Problem is the twins always wait it out way too long to the point where there is no market left. Multiple teams have already signed catchers, taking them out of the running for a Vasquez trade. If they wait until all the free agent pitchers are signed and more are traded, there will be nobody left that needs or wants Paddack. They need to get up and get something done before it's too late and there are no trade options left.
  14. Highly doubt it. If we can't afford 5-6 million to bring back Santana, how can we afford Profar?
  15. Twins need a good RH hitting OF who is good defensively and can cover CF. Not sure we'll be able to afford one though. Expect to see Keirsey Jr and Martin out there.
  16. Lopez is our ace. Now that he's getting paid like one, we really need him to be our number 1 guy. Assuming health, and even minor improvements from Over and Ryan, we have a really good 1-3. I could see SWR going either way this year. Sophomore slump now that the scouting reports are out, maybe injuries. Or, he could build on the success of this year and be a solid number 4, which would be huge. Our number 5 starter is what worries me. Paddack will probably be gone, even if we do keep him he's a liability most days. Festa looked decent most days, but he's not quite ready. Mathews needs even more time in the minors since he jumped three levels last year. Raya-, Adams, Lewis and Culpeper all could be good pitchers, or they could never make the bigs. Either way, they're always away. We need one more starter, a vet who can stay healthy and give our young pitchers the time they need in St Paul to get themselves right.
  17. I think we have plenty of OF prospects on the way. We have enough IF too except for first baseman. I'm not sure we want to hand Miranda and everyday first base job without a decent backup plan. Catcher is another position that needs some work. We want to dump Vasquez but have nobody who can replace him ATM. We could also use another starter and a few pen arms, especially a good lefty. The only way we'll get any of these is trading some of our prospects. Thing is, nobody wants to trade Jenkins, Erod or Keaschal. Same with Fest and Mathews That leaves Raya, Culpeper, Lewis, Eeles, Mccusker etc. can we expect to get an impact starting caliber player from these guys? I'm expecting no moves or trades other than a few minor league deals. We'll be watching a lot of young players and major league debuts this year.
  18. Or they stand pat and make no moves at all, other than one or two more minor league signings....
  19. I would love to see him as our fourth OF, Buxton backup. He's done everything he can in AAA to get a shot. He's really the only legit center fielder we have on the roster other than Buck. Plus, he'll add speed and stolen bases, something this team really needs. The only problem is, he's left handed, meaning he's most likely going to be a part time players/late game defensive sub/pinch runner unless Buxton is hurt. I think Keirsey would be the kind of guy who could really break out if he'd have everyday playing time. I'd say give him the 4rth OF job if he earns it in Spring. Our young LH hitters need to learn how to hit left handed pitchers anyways. If we always shield them, they'll never learn or improve.
  20. Raya- and Lewis haven't really pitched above AA, so I'd be surprised if they even debut this year. More likely Adams will, if injuries happen. Keaschal has the best chance imo. E Rodriguez may have the higher ceiling but he hasn't played above AA either and needs to prove he can stay healthy for a full year. I think one other long shot guy could be Eeles. He played very well in AAA and his bat could really help out our lineup. He can also play multiple positions while stealing bases too..
  21. Idiotic idea, will never happen. Bring in cheerleaders like they do in the Asian leagues. Watch the WBC games, they are doing something right with all the fans excitement without changing the game itself.
  22. Castro is one of the few base stealing threats we have. He can play all over the place. With all of our injury prone starters, I'm guessing Castro will have close to a full season worth of at bats again. He's very valuable. If we were to trade him, I wouldn't want it to be a salary dump, I'd look for major league talent in areas we need. Starting pitching, RH outfielders or a first baseman.
  23. My guess is Paddack is traded for a low level prospect in a salary dump, citing our "wealth of young rotation depth". A few minor league RP with invites to spring training. First base will be a revolving door of Miranda, Julien and anyone else already on the roster. 4rth outfielder and Buxton timeshare will be Keirsey and Martin. With the Royals and Tigers likely improving this off-season, we may find ourselves in fourth place:(
  24. I could see him going to the Royals or maybe the Blue Jays on a one year deal. We'll miss his defense in right field, but we can replace his offense with Wallner and Larnach. I just hope we sign a good RH outfielder who can play center field for Buxton. Castro can play left occasionally but I don't think Austin Martin is a good choice to play center. Keirsey can probably do a good job there but he's also a lefty.
  25. I think he's being overpaid. Over 15 million per year for an era near 5 last year? He hasn't been good since he was in OAK.
