  1. I'm ready for a new front office and manager. One that let's pitchers pitch beyond 7 innings and 83 pitches.
  2. I stopped thinking Kepler was worth the time when he wouldn't stop pulling the ball during the overshift era.
  3. You are absolutely correct. The headline to the story should not blame the relief pitcher. The manager (whose name I cannot say or I get scolded by the word police) is completely to blame for this loss. There isn't one top of the line pitcher in MLB who would want to play for the Mgr (whose name I cannot say) of this squad. In 1984 the Twins choked a big lead (Viola and Gaetti) while contending and never regained their mojo until 1987. This is the game people will point to should they fail to make the playoffs.
  4. And that is exactly the type of story the Athletic would write!
  5. Interesting story: https://puckettspond.com/posts/minnesota-twins-prospect-might-be-the-best-story-in-baseball-01j6wpshs34k
  6. The manager to remain nameless would take the tee out of a tee ball game after two innings. He doesn't know how to manage a pitching staff at all. If doing exactly what a computer tells you to do is the sole criteria, the manager to remain nameless is top five.
  7. How those three fare will definitely affect how many will see the Twins playoff chances.
  8. The over usage of the bullpen is what concerns me most. The one to remain nameless doesn't know how to manage pitching. To him it's a computer simulation without any baseball instincts.
  9. 83 pitches and six innings is enough for the one to remain nameless. I can't call him what I'd like to because the powers that be like to suspend people for that. But I agree, this loss is on the mgr.
  10. I hate that this has to be considered, but unfortunately it needs to be done. https://puckettspond.com/posts/new-mlb-rule-could-make-it-harder-for-rocco-baldelli-to-pull-his-starters-01j5bd1yeasy
  11. I'm sure glad I grew up in a time that had pitchers consistently throw over 7 innings and 100 pitches. I wonder how much Verlander's career would have been different with Falvey running the organizations he pitched in.
  12. One thing I noticed is the Yankees take professional at-bats. With two strikes they don't seem to worry about launch angle or mph off the bat. The sit back and wait to hit a pitch in the zone and put it in play. Whereas the Twins batters seem to want a 6 run HR with every swing, no matter the count. In my opinion that's pressing. Pressing is never good as a batter.
  13. Those uniforms are the ugliest things I've ever seen - and I lived through a time when men wore leisure suits! Wal-mart customers wouldn't have shed their pajamas to put on those hideous things. If Nike makes $1 on the sales of those things it shows that we are truly screwed as a nation. Lastly, Yesterday would have definitely been a recovery day for me if I were on the roster.
  14. Hopefully Buxton is absorbing the Yankees approach to hitting. Watching Aaron Judge take smart swings based on the count is kind of like watching old school ball.
  15. "Minnesota certainly didn’t foresee him becoming the American League Pitcher of the Month in May 2024, but here we are." From now on, when the Twins are going to trade someone they need to see if the other team accepts the offered player. If it's an immediate yes they need to reconsider and offer up someone else.
  16. He needs to take batting practice and swing at every pitch. Nothing should get by. I didn't like his approach last year when I saw him swing out of his shoes on two strike counts. Wasn't impressed then, less impressed now. I sure hope my opinion changes.
  17. The way Pablo is pitching right now I could challenge him for the Cy Young award.
  18. Seems like cheap analysis, but yet, it isn't. Not seeing proof doesn't mean you're looking for it.
  19. This is what I worried would happen. The Twins watched the Wild last season and the intrigue of losing streak, winning streak, losing streak, winning streak, losing streak seemed to much to pass up.
  20. Jose Barrios has one complete game this year. That's half as many as the Twins have had since 2020. Rocco does have a quick hook. Richardson threw 80 pitches and wasn't allowed to pitch past the 6th inning. Ridiculous.
  21. I wonder if Rocco went to the rulebook to see if it was OK for a pitcher to throw 8 innings? I'm sure he was completely bewildered after the 6th inning.
