  1. My advice to Keaschall is to take the advice of a former Twins rookie of the year: https://puckettspond.com/former-twins-star-john-castino-shares-thoughts-on-minnesota-s-offensive-struggles-01js3a2ndk3t
  2. He might get hits, but his velocity of the bat is way to low. Not to mention he doesn't hit hit high enough and his BA with balls in play is probably going to trend back to the mean. He's just been lucky. (So much sarcasm intended it's immeasurable) At least we have Rocco.
  3. I'm starting to think the Mgr is trying to get himself fired so he can get out. Nobody could possibly be that inept as a Mgr.
  4. If it continues like it is the Mgr will be gone by Monday. That's not to say he shouldn't have been gone well before this, but lagging attendance and a losing squad will force a change. Paging Toby from St. Paul. Toby? Toby?
  5. I'd add, if I may, 4 inning starts for pitchers, 6 relievers, poor defense, and over 1/3 of outs by K.
  6. If a team is burning through it's relievers after 10 games, I can't imagine what it's going to look like after 100 games.
  7. At this point and yes, it's early. I'd give the benefit of the doubt to the East side club.
  8. While I'm no fan of Montreal, they did nothing to deserve this team.
  9. Of all pitchers on the squad, I'd say he's shown the most consistency (positive) and if he can improve on that he's certainly Cy Young discussion,.
  10. Feet and shoes can be treated the same way. Get rid of the shoes you're wearing, Do more barefoot walking, and balance out the training on each side of your body.
  11. I found that curious as well. They spent so much time refueling at the gas pump they almost let all of the other cars drive by.
  12. I actually think less pitching will allow them to pitch more. All the specialized training as youth. In my younger days kids were taught the fastball, fastball, or fastball. Maybe an occasional change up. Also, all the off-season workouts that don't allow off season rest. Your stat that there were 1200 surgeries doesn't help your cause if you're stating that 100 pitches makes it safer. How many surgeries were there between 1981-1985 when pitchers could pitch longer? Lastly, the focus on overthrowing and trying to increase from 91mph to 96mph definitely puts more strain on the arm, and body. Instead of velocity, teach control and getting the batter off balance. So endeth the lesson.
  13. I don't get it. Because I won't assume every human being is built the same way and I have an understanding that getting to 100 pitches varies on how you got there. I do get that the 100 # was completely arbitrary and there are thousands of cases throughout history that 100 pitches was just getting warmed up for some pitchers.
  14. I have a hunch that Kirilloff will bake a comeback attempt after a year off.
  15. Fundamentals aside, what was that hideous thing on top of his head?
  16. "James Andrews, the renowned orthopedic surgeon, suggested 100 -- a ballpark figure -- in a 1999 study titled "Elbow Injuries in Young Baseball Players" with James Whiteside. Even 17 years later, this study is still frequently cited. The 100-pitch limit suggestion took hold, and it seems over time, the suggestion lost its ambiguity. There's no data to suggest that 100 is the magic number of fatigue, after which injuries increase at an alarming rate. There's no information that's been collected that labels the 100th pitch as a saturation point of effectiveness either. It's an arbitrary number -- a ballpark figure. One must presume it was well-estimated, but it was an estimation nonetheless. But over time, the estimation became the law.'" And this is one time I don't believe in the equal application of "the law"
  17. I'm good with any six pitchers. I just want starting pitchers to go beyond 4 1/3 innings.
  18. I never thought I'd think this but why not... How about a 6 man staff keeping Festa and Paddack, with one caveat. No more five inning games. Let them stretch it out a little bit since they'll have an extra day off.
  19. I just hope France doesn't start something he can't finish. Just can't trust the French...
  20. I think Falvey clings to the mgr because if he were to fire him, he'd have to then admit he was wrong in hiring him. Evidently, that would be large of a pill to swallow. In regard to managing again...The Dundas Dukes might be looking for a new skipper.
  21. MIranda makes the most sense. I assume some of the errors were throws. If that's the case, most of the throws from first will be starting around the horn. Going to a corner infield transition is easier. You have to have quick hands, quick feet, and know how to play the angles. If he balks at the idea have Hrbek come down and explain to him how important the position is. If he still balks, have Rod Carew come down and explain how he, as a future HOF, changed his position from second to first for a second baseman that has long been forgotten.
  22. If the left side of the infield and CF can stay away from the IL for long periods of time there's no reason to think 86 wins isn't a possibility with the talent they have. The only reason they probably won't is because of the guy leading the ship.
