  1. I think letting Kepler play left field will help him to understand that a hit ball can sometimes be placed on that side of the field. Send him some highlights of two time World Series MVP Corey Seager to see how a left handed hitter can hit the ball to all sides of the field. That said, I believe his second half was an aberration. Until he stops trying to pull ever pitch he'll be an avg/below avg babip player at best.
  2. The two teams in the World Series exemplify that statement. Unfortunately the concept of productive at-bats is lost on the Twins front office and dugout.
  3. One thing the squad needs to do is watch last nights ALCS. Sure there were a couple of HR's but there was more players shortening their swing to go the other way or just trying to protect the zone. Alvarez's two strike, 2 RBI base hit was an example of what the Twins never do. Tough pitch inside and he did just enough to muscle it into CF. Most of the Twins batters would have either swung for the fences and missed or just let it go. There's a reason the Rangers and Astros are still playing and the Twins are not, and it's got nothing to do with talent.
  4. I'm not exactly sure how striking out gives the team a chance. Does Falvey anticipate the catcher dropping the third strike and throwing the ball into right field? The worst team approach ever.
  5. What doesn't make sense is pitching him two innings in an elimination game. If he's not good enough to go more than two innings what good is he?
  6. A new manager that makes decisions based on the flow of the game, the trend of the player, and gut instincts. I like Kepler as a human being but he's gotta go Trade Joe Ryan - unless there are other managers that think he's better than a two inning starter Trade Buxton - he obviously will never be healthy as a Twin. I hope he does well in the future but history has shown he's not reliable.
  7. When I saw the opening lineup I said to myself, "why isn't Correa hitting cleanup?" The one game they one he was hitting cleanup. Rocco has to stop managing like it's fantasy baseball. A future HOF player needs the potential to have as many AB's as possible. His reliance on lefty, righty is the reason the Twins lost. Put the best lineup on the field and let them play and hit! Ryan should have pitched more than two innings as well. I haven't like Baldelli's managerial style since year one and my disdain for it has increased tenfold after last night. I'll take Dusty Baker and his theory of letting his best hitters hit any day.
  8. This is a team that's pressing during at bats with runners in scoring position. Errors are going to happen and there were multiple opportunities to make up for it. I'm more worried about Kirolloff's (and most everyone else's) bat that his glove at this point.
  9. Julien needs better professional at-bats. When down by 5 runs, don't try to swing for the fences with two strikes. Pretty sure you can't hit a 6 run dinger.
  10. This is a much better time for analytics! Not sure Maeda wouldn't have been a better choice but Ober is definitely trending in the right direction.
  11. Everything you said is God's honest truth. Might I add on the offensive side a philosophy of putting the ball in play and not swinging for the fences on every count has worked for over 100 years.
  12. Had Molitor continued to manage the Twins Buxton could have ended up having a Kirby Puckett type influence on the team. Hitting to all fields, bunting, spectacular defense, and smart baseball. Instead, he's what he is and will be considered a top 3 "what could have been" in all of MN sports history.
  13. This team should not buy. Unless they can get a player that shows the lineup how to make contact this team is headed for another 0fer in the playoffs.
  14. Time for a managerial philosophy where strike outs aren't accepted as a badge of honor.
  15. Those players are very fortunate to get out of Minnesota before Rocco's philosophy of "strike out at all cost" set in. They've learned plate discipline, the strike zone, but most importantly, making contact with the bat. Go Rocco! Seriously, go. Just leave.
  16. Baldelli, "You can still strikeout and still win games." Yes. But not consistently. That approach is exactly why the Twins have a middling record and will never be more than a middling team with him at the helm. Meanwhile, Side note: Luis is batting over .400 Miami once again. I haven't looked but I don't think he's even hit the teens yet in total K's for the year.
  17. They definitely matter. Due to the fact Sonny Gray will gladly take the first train out the Twins will need someone to fill the first four innings of games. If I were a starting pitcher I'd rather go on a hunger strike than pitch for Rocco "short leash" Baldelli.
  18. My takeaway. The Twins hitting coaches altered his swing and his numbers dropped. He went back to the mechanics that got him through college and then on to becoming a high draft choice and his numbers improved. I'm thinking the Twins way of hitting from top to bottom might need to be re-evaluated.
  19. Our analytics had us trade the leagues leading hitter who has struck out 11 times all year! The Twins alone struck out 12 times last night. Whoever is doing our analytics needs a different career that starts with anal...
  20. An honest evaluation of this team can't be anything but negative. When over a third of a teams outs is by K it can't be considered a serious threat. That's why I don't even watch! I follow via box score. According to this site the team has an abundance of talent. If it can't perform on the field it's because the management is poor. I do think this team can win the division, just not with this management.
  21. 15. Count them, 15 strikeouts in one game. That is why I follow the team via box score. Anyone that thinks that is entertaining baseball lives in a advanced metrics world that's ruining the game and sending people over to soccer. Friggin soccer!
  22. Gallo, the front office, and majority of the lineup take the 7th Inning stretch line of "for it's 1, 2, 3 strikes your out" to heart.
  23. The Twins front office realizes the only "proper" way to record an out is with a K. Any other form of out would be undignified. If you need evidence, just look at the lineup.
  24. I"m not saying Farmer is HOF, but Robin Yount made the move to OF at 30 years old after playing SS his entire career. A move to the outfield is a lot easier than moving from OF to IF
  25. Keeping Luis on the roster definitely hinders the squads goal of breaking every team strikeout record.
