    The other factor in “development” is they all came of age when most players start getting it in the majors if they are going to get it. The credit being bestowed for development may be missplaced The other thing is that I don’t understand why you can’t support Falvine while appreciating the many great things TR did. Was he perfect? No but no front office is including Falvine.

    So the metrics don’t like him but he gets guys out. I think I’ll take him. Perhaps control is more important than velocity.

    It’s more than that. Every starter except Cruz and Donaldson plus Berrios Duffy May Rogers and last year Gibson. I generally like what Falvine have done but I don’t understand why people feel the need to denigrate prior leaders to show their support for the current FO

    I like Polanco and believe he would be a great second baseman. He will not be a good fielding SS ever. Playing SS in the big leagues is really hard which is why so many guys start there and end up elsewhere. The Twins simply need to address this as this is not a long term solution

    The Twins have one of the best lineups ever. It really can’t be overstated how good that group will be Can we slow the roll a little here. So many variables involved going forward. This kind of hyperbole makes me doubt the credibility of TD

    Sorry. Whether it’s metrics or the eye test our middle infield defense stinks. Or if you prefer bottom of the league. There is no reason not to change this especially because Polanco would be an above average defensive second baseman

    Yea and I should be dating Kate Upton. To dismiss the financial implications of this signing by saying the Twins should spend more is ignoring history and reality

    I’m glad our defense at third will be better. Its a small thing compared to the middle infield where our defense stinks

    But there isn’t anything keeping them from pitching like Buerlie. It was the norm for most of baseball history

    As a fan this is fun. If this results in them not obtaining better pitching then it is a mistake. And no a good defensive 3rd baseman doesn’t solve the infield woes. It will be fun to watch!

    Perhaps this is the perfect excuse to speed up the game. Make every hitter abide by the pitchers pace. Mark Buerhle wasn’t having his signs stolen as it couldn’t happen in the brief second it took him from sign to delivery

    Well they are obviously not going to fix their rotation through FA so they better hang on to what they have. And the closer he gets to FA the harder it is going to be to sign him

    I’ve stated that I would pass. Like it or not there is a high probability that this ends up being dead money and with this ownership that has an effect. I would use the money to extend Berrios and Odo and sign Moreland to play first If you really want Donaldson call his agent and say you have 48 hours to take our offer. Otherwise they run the risk of getting nobody.

    Nope. I too also believe first base is more important defensively than conventional wisdom. There was a drop off from Mauer to Cron that was noticeable.

    Defense at third base is not even close to the top of the Twins problems.

    Hard pass. If we are going to hit the farm system it needs to be for a good pitching prospect. I don’t understand the recent obsession on TD about acquiring a third baseman.
