  1. How does a 40 runner stick at short? That’s Polanco territory.
  2. Meh. He’s already 21 and most scouts say he won’t stick at short. I know you don’t draft for need in baseball but he is already 3-4 years older than some guys. That means he joins a pile of good Twins prospects at 2nd and 3 rd. He better hit a crap ton and the Twins better start trading some of these guys.
  3. Didn’t see the game. Did we finally play a clean game?
  4. I think this is the proper path. Get quality help that is more than a rental. Solve a problem for good otherwise we are playing this same game next year. I really disagree with the notion that you can’t invest in relievers because they are too volatile. The samples are smaller so you will experience some swings but to avoid any pitcher with potential is the strategy that is playing out in front of our eyes.
  5. Nice to get the win but here it is again…….more sloppy baseball. Jeffers runs into a tag double play that kills a potential big inning. That is something that you are coached to avoid in Legion ball. The Twins make at least one bonehead play every game. Rocco at least noted before the game that one of the goals for the day was to play a clean game. I guess he is aware of it anyway.
  6. How do you know what he is capable of? The Sano comparison is ridiculous. There is more to baseball than hitting. He’s streaky we all know it. Maybe appreciate what he is doing instead of comparing him to some unrealistic set of criteria you have arbitrarily decided upon.
  7. Couple of things. If we have to evaluate the prospects only at the time of the trade then you can only evaluate Berrios at the time of the trade. You don’t get to have both sides of the coin. The trade isn’t even the point. Falvine didn’t want Martin and SWR instead of Berrios, they didn’t want to give Berrios $120 million. And that might turn out to be very shrewd.
  8. I don’t think it’s any revelation that Buck is a streaky hitter. There was a stat posted during tonight’s game about his ranking in the last 100 games for extra base hits. He’s in the top 5 in a bunch of categories. Oh and he is the best CF in baseball. I guess we might want to reassess what our expectations are.
  9. He walks a lot of people and gives up a lot of homers. That is a bad combo…..
  10. More sloppy baseball which I believe I have posted about 4 times in the last two weeks. I am not as critical of Rocco’s bullpen moves as most posters but the Twins play really sloppy baseball and ultimately that falls on the manager.
  11. Winder and Canterino are likely on an innings limit due to injury history so I see no downside to letting them get their 80 innings in the pen as long relievers they still can prepare for starting going in to next spring.
  12. More sloppy baseball. The Twins have to clean it up if they are going to beat good teams when it counts.
  13. More sloppy baseball. The lost fly ball ends up costing them a chance to win the game. This crap is happening way too frequently.
  14. I respectfully disagree with the idea he is good at blocking balls. If they are in front of him yes but he has no lateral movement due to his stance. Anything lateral and he is poor.
  15. How do we know that Jeffers had anything to do with it being called a strike? The box the umps get graded on is not the same as TV or MLB game day. Maybe the ump made a bad call and it had nothing to do with Jeffers framing. I’m not saying that the way catchers receive the ball doesn’t matter but when people quantify it so precisely it’s just BS. There isn’t a way to know for sure.
  16. I like his bat but he surely is a member of the anvil chorus. If the Twins think this is what he is with the glove I would trade him. If they feel he has the ability to improve at third I would hang onto him but get him to St Paul so he can work on his fielding and be ready to start at 3 rd next year.
  17. In defense of our catchers they’ve been instructed to squat in such a way that makes it next to impossible to throw a runner out.
  18. Agree on all three especially Jax. After watching him last year this year is a very pleasant outcome.
  19. OMG. There are dozens of guys like this moving around almost daily. Non story.
  20. I watch nearly every Twins game. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out a player sometimes it’s not. Since you seem skeptical of my opinion you could read scouting reports and bear in mind these were when he was at AA OR AAA.
  21. This. Plus Miranda is not good in the field. Barely passable at third and lost at first. He needs to go to St Paul and learn to play 3rd base. Better yet trade high on this guy.
  22. Always take a win! I do hope the Twins clean it up soon. They have been making too many fundamental mistakes. Taking a step back they have come through a horrible injury patch quite nicely and now we get two good starters back. Oh and Miranda needs to focus on third base wherever that may be.
  23. He’s not a good catcher. His hitting speaks for itself although he deserves 1000 at bats or so for sure. His defense is completely overrated and it largely stems from the goofy catching position he uses (at the request of the coaches). It’s nearly impossible for him to throw anybody out and he can’t block anything in the dirt that isn’t right at him. I believe framing is overrated. The problem in trying to quantify it means you have to know whether a “stolen” strike was just a missed call by the ump independent of any glove magic. If umps are fooled by him jerking his mitt to the center of the plate then we need robo umps yesterday. How a catcher receives the ball has value. In the old days it was called soft hands or he receives the ball well but it’s cumulative effect isn’t that great. Go back to a crouch gain some lateral movement and throw somebody out. I’ll take the best you can do on framing after that.
  24. No way do I sign him long term. However I would go to him an extra $10 million if he opts in for next year. Consider it a penalty for the dumb decision you made with Lewis.
