  1. Since most teams are reluctant to trade away good pitching I guess I don’t like the premise
  2. This incident is common knowledge. Of course what he said is wrong. The timing of this article seems odd.
  3. I read that Brees took a knee in protest before the national anthem at some point. Seems to me that is a germane point. I think it is possible to respect the flag and not condone police violence against people of color (any color).
  4. Your best post on the topic Nick. I completely agree with that message. I’m not going to judge Kepler rather I am going to figure what I can do to create change. First and foremost this will now become my top litmus test for any candidate in the coming election.
  5. I’ve read every single one of them. I don’t think you know how you are coming across to well reasoned people. Take a breath. We are (and probably 95% of the posters ) here are on the same side. Not everyone has to think exactly like you.
  6. The focus on Kepler is based on flimsy information. We have no idea how he feels on this subject and to demand that he do something perfectly acceptable to you or Nick is the ultimate in condescension. I think this whole situation is a travesty and I am going to take steps I personally value to try and improve this problem. Meantime I suggest you lay off the holier than thou attitude. You are not helping the cause.
  7. I agree that we have to do more- this is a crisis. Like a lot of people I’m not sure how. My own little thing is I try to acknowledge and speak to every black person I come across. My very little way of trying to build a bridge I don’t think it was proper to focus on Kepler. We have no idea what his feelings are and I don’t think it’s right to call him out unless we know. There is a lot of condescension in these comments including the owners. That is never a good way to persuade people.
  8. It was posted on MLBTR? Oh I guess that’s all the proof we need. For the record I like our front office but people just go hyperbolic so often on this subject
  9. The whole Cleveland thing is speculation. We have no idea what his role was. I’m not ripping the guy I’m just saying slow the roll. He acquired Odo which was great but he was hardly some unknown only to be mined by Falvey
  10. I hate the DH. I don’t care about pitchers hitting, hell I just watched Jason Castro flail away for the last three years. I like the strategy that it brings to the game and the position switches
  11. Garver is a good reminder that some prospects don’t make it until later age. His swing is so solid that I expect him to continue having success with the bat
  12. The answer: yesterday. He does not have the skills to be a good MLB shortstop. He could be one of the best second baseman however.
  13. Most of the trades listed and the alternate suggestions were made by Terry Ryan. Pretty impressive list
  14. A different view of this might be the old regime used a method that allowed them to get decent MLB performance out of limited talent.
  15. Tovar for sure. Absolute great player. Tapani is also a good candidate.
  16. Thanks Seth. The mocking of pitch to contact gets old. The philosophy is much better described as get ahead in the count and don’t walk people. I’d say both of those things still apply.
  17. Arreaz has one strength - hitting for average. If that diminishes he will be fighting for the 26th spot on a roster in the future
  18. They should be able to find 5 guys out of all their choices. My biggest concern is they ride the veteran guy even though he is not performing.
  19. I’m afraid that baseball has changed so much that historical comparisons are no longer valid. The juiced ball last year means you can throw all of those stats out the window. Your point is well taken however that the Twins have quite a tandem at the corners
  20. I’ve wanted a right handed hitting back up CF for three years. I think the FO has a bit of a bias towards keeping Cave since they gave up a good prospect for him.
  21. Very interesting article. I wonder if his extreme workout routine is playing into the decrease in velocity. Perhaps he is losing some elasticity in his motion
  22. He could do it but there are a couple of big ifs. First is better command of his pitches and second is having a legit change up
