  1. This. Lewis was the overall number 1 pick for a reason. He is a great athlete and you push that as far up the defensive spectrum that you can. If Buck can’t get healthy then Lewis is absolutely the best option. Let him be a difference maker at a premium position.
  2. Willi is a rare player that can truly play multiple positions competently. Most of the time “defensive flexibility “ means the player sucks at multiple positions. Not so with Willi. I don’t think that will change and I expect him to get even better on the bases. I love that I don’t recall a total screw up on the bases which is fairly common on this team. Hitting wise time will tell. Being a switch hitter is really valuable in his role.
  3. I know this is supposed to be fun and certainly there can be some interesting ideas and opinions expressed. However there are a LOT of really knowledgeable posters on this site.
  4. This. If they try to steal more with this lineup we are going to see a bunch of caught stealings. I would be happy with fewer base running blunders as a more realistic goal. If the lineup turns over more than more stolen bases might be possible
  5. I would pick up keplers and Polos options. I would keep Polo and trade Max. He had a great second half but I don’t trust that more than the prior 3 years he wasn’t good. Sell high and use the money on a starter or good rh left fielder.
  6. Comeback implies he had a bad year. I think people have gotten ahead of themselves with Ryan. To me he is a #3-4 starter and there is nothing wrong with that. If expectations are that he is going to be a 2 then you will likely be disappointed.
  7. Is there a location +? That’s more important than stuff. 61 walks and 90 strikeouts doesn’t inspire confidence. Obviously he is worth giving more chances but I wouldn’t be counting on him.
  8. I get your point. Maeda pitched very well at times which was good considering coming off TJ. I also think he will age better than most because he doesn’t rely on velocity. That said 36 year olds coming off TJ are going to be looked at carefully. I bet he gets 2 for $25 mil.
  9. I’m guessing not. My understanding is that this type of insurance is really expensive and withs Buxtons history……. Plus these policies only payout when the player no longer can play at all.
  10. I love watching Louie pitch. He works fast and throws strikes. However if he wants to remain a starter he has to develop his secondary pitches which are not very good right now. His cutter was better out of the pen because he threw it harder but no so much as a starter. This will be the deciding factor in where he ends up.
  11. This. He’s been a decent right handed hitter he just really struggled from the left side. I’m quite sure he could be a plus fielder in one of the corner spots and be passable in center. Put him in the Garlick role and he would be an improvement.
  12. They’re people posting that Duran is not elite. If he isn’t what is the definition of elite?
  13. The other factor here is people are assuming Jeffers maintains his production. I don’t think that is a given as his hitting and defense started tailing off towards the end of the season. If you trade Vasquez and Jeffers regresses we are in a world of hurt.
  14. Because both players have guaranteed no trade contracts. There is no getting out of either contract.
  15. This is the crux of the issue. At best he would be one of the relievers that get churned back and forth to St Paul. Since he is out of options you would have to outright him then. So you might as well do it now and let him have one last crack in St Paul if he clears waivers. If he doesn’t I wouldn’t bat an eye. He’s eminently replaceable.
  16. I’m not sure what you do with Balazovic but I know what you don’t do. That is count on him for any meaningful role for the Twins next year.
  17. Understood. The pick is different than having Petty. Who knows maybe the pick ends up being better than Petty or Petty could be great for years and the pick is a bust. That was my original point which is it’s been great for the Twins but the final tally has yet to be made.
  18. Early return is great. But like most trades you can’t really grade until we see what Petty does. If he ends up being a front line starter with 6 years control then I’m not so sure.
  19. I e been thinking about this as well. It seems that the Twins do operate fairly closely to a revenue ratio which might mean big changes. Who knows maybe they will count on a revenue boost from this playoff run. However it could be a much bigger factor than we think in the Polanco and Kepler decisions.
  20. I think a case can be made that the second half improvement in offense was due to us playing lots of bad teams. The offense in the playoffs looked just like it did in the first half when we were playing good teams
  21. Not trying to discredit Maki but how much of this is the Twins just getting better pitchers? I will say it seems like our pitching has taken a step up so he deserves credit just hard to know how much. In many ways I think Falvines greatest strength is finding good coaches and in untraditional ways.
