  1. This the mantra I’ve been beating to death. Put players in their best long term position so they can develop into the best fielder possible. Martin could be a plus player in the bigs but probably at 2nd or left field. Just play him there right now.
  2. Martin wasn’t even the starting SS on his college team. No scout says he has a chance to play short in the bigs. Why our FO continues to play him there is another of the many things I don’t understand.
  3. This is the most plausible explanation. They almost certainly are going to insure the contract and the insurance company is going to have a much tighter view on what is acceptable.
  4. It’s time to find out what Lewis can do. He was the first player taken in the draft so he has some level of ability. It’s also important from the standpoint of maximizing an asset. If he plays a position other than short then his value is substantially less.
  5. That’s one of his challenges: a front office that doesn’t believe in him. I would give him a boatload of time at SS in spring training and see what happens.
  6. Yea I’m still skeptical. It’s not been the MO of the Twins to invest substantial dollars to starting pitching and Gray will get substantial dollars.
  7. Less years for Gray but less AAV? Not sure.
  8. I see references to extending either of the pitchers. This FO wouldn’t extend Berrios who was younger better and more durable. Why the hell would they extend these guys? The only logical reason is they really don’t have a plan.
  9. I’ve got news for you. They’ve been stepping back without knowing it. If they blow it up Falvine has to go. You want those guys overseeing a rebuild?
  10. Smartest guys in the room syndrome. Can’t make the obvious move gotta go with what my model tells me.
  11. Ahhh…..the infamous pivot. The signature move of the Twins. No tap dancing just the quick pivot. They are so adept they can pivot to the right and they can pivot to the left. At this point it’s choreographed into a slick dance move swallowed whole by their fans. Sad truth is that the pivot is only used to avoid onrushing opportunities.
  12. Who cares. The alternative is watching the Pohlad family count their money. I want Rodon and the risk more than I want a $120 million payroll.
  13. And we have no idea what his role was. How about the more pertinent information that under his watch the Twins have been miserable at developing homegrown pitching talent. It’s no coincidence that all our best pitchers were obtained via trade.
  14. Does anybody want Falvine overseeing a rebuild? If they start dumping people the FO needs to go with them.
  15. The idea that Falvey oversaw Carrascos growth is pretty laughable at this point. Why does this notion keep getting repeated?
  16. If you think signing Correa was risky then signing Swanson is a real doozy. Some team is gonna rue the day they signed him.
  17. You are spot on about last year. I’m not saying they are going to do what I suggested rather that is what I would do. I wanted Haniger but they were distracted by Correa. I would take Wil Myers. I know that’s not great but this is the situation we are in.
  18. Sign Eovaldi or Rodon. Sign two stud relievers and get a right handed hitting outfielder. I’m happy they signed Vasquez as that was a must. point of clarification I liked Correa and would love it they would sign and take the steps I listed. I have zero confidence that would have happened.
  19. I’m happy we didn’t sign him. Now we can build a team which they wouldn’t do if they signed Correa. What’s weird is that the FO thought they were going to sign him for less than $300 million. That’s delusional. As soon as Seager signed his contract you knew it was going way past that number.
  20. Huge blessing in disguise. Stay far away from Swanson as well - one decent year at the plate. The Twins now have a chance to build the best TEAM which was never gonna happen if they signed Correa. sign Evoldi plus two stud relievers and wil Myers. I’m also willing to wait for Lewis. He was the first overall pick let’s see what we got once and for all. If you sign these players and get some luck on the health front the Twins could do damage.
  21. Just saw that Hicks is hitting 211 over last two years. Had no idea he fell off so dramatically.
  22. I think there is merit to this idea. Let him hit mostly right handed and he surely would be a good defender in the corner spots.
  23. Love this move. IMO catching was our greatest position player need. Now sign a stud reliever and get a good right handed hitting outfielder and we will be close.
  24. This is the point. He’s not much better than Farmer and we can’t trade our way out of this mess. The farm has already taken a hit.
  25. The point is he doesn’t have to make it through a whole season to be worth his salary. If and when he does he will be vastly underpaid. Last year he paid for his salary by mid May.
