  1. I pay attention to zips projections the same amount as framing numbers.
  2. This is why you add free agent talent when it is available because some years like this year there simple is very little. We sat out last year when there were many good pitchers available and now we need a starter and they are not there.
  3. I love watching Arreaz hit but he literally is a one trick pony He does that one thing very well but really has no other tools. His peak value is right now not because he won’t continue to be a good player but is likely to remain really good at one thing while getting more expensive every year. Trade sometimes is as much about how much the player is making as performance. I would not advocate trading him for an average pitcher but if you can add another prospect and get a potential #1 starter you have to do it.
  4. It’s Uufda. This type of mistake could result in a Viking rage.
  5. I’m generally with Mike Link in that I think it is most important to build the best overall team. Coming into the off-season I wanted upgrades at SS catcher a right hand hitting outfielder a starter and stud reliever. I would move on all areas and if there isn’t enough money for CC then so be it. I am not interested in Swanson as a fallback. I like the glove but the bat isn’t good enough for a mega deal. Lewis was the #1 over all pick. He’s worth a shot.
  6. This is a good point. Right field in target field is tricky. Max handles it well probably substantially better than whoever fills in for him if he plays center. The hitting …..
  7. Well Lee and Lewis is most of the quality left on the farm. If I’m pushing all in it sure isn’t for a corner outfielder.
  8. I was all in on adding a starter but this is nuts. Rodon is a great fit for the twins but 7 years is nuts. They should now get two quality relievers and add the innings thru the pen. Oh yea more pitching changes. I also agree with doc on adding a right handed hitting outfielder.
  9. If Arreaz gets Lopez I would do it. I like Arreaz but pitching is always the trump card.
  10. They have to get someone and there ain’t much left.
  11. Disagree. They need to add 120 innings plus of good pitching so those were viable targets. Haniger was the best choice to add a right handed outfielder and Josh Bell was a great fit at DH. They could get the innings by adding two bullpen arms better than Jax but they don’t do that either.
  12. Don’t look now but what we feared might be happening. Haniger has signed along with several of the better pitchers. Signing Correa would be fun but this team has holes in addition to SS.
  13. Hendricks contract has no surplus value. He’s not worth a legit major league player.
  14. Celestino winder and sands have little value in a trade for a really good big leaguer. There are literally dozens of players like them out there.
  15. Yea I’m not a huge Celestino fan for many of the reasons listed above. And he might be the worst base runner I’ve seen in recent memory. He throws to wrong base, misses cut off men and generally looks like his head is too frequently not in the game.
  16. Count them up. Here is a list of elite prospects: Lee Lewis E Rod. Good prospects might include Julien and SWR and Martin. This trade would require 3 of the six. What are you left with? A bunch of guys who profile as marginal big leaguers.
  17. This is not happening for the Twins. Don’t look now but the Twins are one major trade like this (if it is all prospects) from having a pretty barren farm system.
  18. No argument there but there is another option. They could go and sign um an actual good reliever. If they won’t then that is on the FO.
  19. The only thing wrong with Joe Ryan is our expectations. He’s a solid middle to back of the rotation guy and that is just fine. Did you think we were getting Verlander for two months of Nelson Cruz?
  20. I agree. Its one way to increase parity by giving blocked players a chance.
  21. No way do you just pencil him in. He has promise but has proven nothing. He’s depth right now and will surely get a chance by the end of the season.
  22. If Andrew Heaney is the best we can get then the FO needs to go immediately and the Pohlads need to sell. How have we got to a point that we expect so little?
  23. No way it takes Lee and Duran. But it is going to take Lee and another good piece.
  24. We’d be betting on their ability to develop cost - efficient pitching. Since they really haven’t shown the ability to do that I’m not taking that bet.
  25. I have no idea. What I do know is that I will judge him by what he does, not what he says. Jim Pohlad was great at mouthing platitudes that meant nothing.
