  1. And I think it is important to remember the schedule was much easier the second half so it’s tough to really know.
  2. Yea I could never figure that one out. The only thing many people care about are pitchers that strike people out but turn around and say for hitters it’s just another out. Perhaps they feel hip to the metrics or something.
  3. I don’t follow these scorecards much but this one is as bad as I can recall. Angel Hernandez like.
  4. My mother in law called to find out if she could watch the game. With her cable package she couldn’t watch and was mad about it. I told her not to worry about it and work in the garden - you’ll be happier.
  5. I’m not over the top worried. They are 500 with a bunch of injuries and a bunch of games on the road. If they can stay 500 until they start getting some guys back they will be fine. It’s important to remember that even a 90 win team is going to play 500 ball a lot throughout the long season.
  6. Not much they can do about it now. They tried to tweak the lineup in the off season the additions haven’t done much. While many of us want a more balanced lineup it’s clear that Falvine are all in on the homers over all else philosophy. As suggested up thread I think there is merit in having a more individualized approach.
  7. This brings us back to the strikeouts are just another out debate. Like most things in life the answer is somewhere in the middle. Many times they don’t matter but they sure do matter when you have runners in scoring position especially with two outs. Buck had to at least make contact and Julien can’t take strike 3 looking with the bases loaded.
  8. Funderburk and Sands are two guys I’m skeptical of but both pitched well. Sands seemed to have more movement on his pitches. I was confused by the pitch calling in the fourth. López threw nothing but breaking balls which he couldn’t locate. He got a head a couple of times but then everything got very passive. Don’t know if that is coming from the dugout or Vasquez but seemed different than the start of the game. Speaking of Vasquez he needs to practice his rundowns. Run the guy back to the base and force the tag at the base he is coming from. Runners advanced for no reason on both of those plays. Oh and Eddy with two outs and the bases full you might want to protect the plate.
  9. This. The difference between the cheap vets and younger players isn’t great. However adding one good player could be a game changer.
  10. Yea the whole “ we didn’t have a spot for him” argument is really tired. He would be one of our best hitters.
  11. Yea max isn’t exactly a guy that likes to play dinged up. Based on past history I would I give him another day and if he isn’t ready I would IL him and back date it.
  12. There is research that supports this but I believe it pertains to sports like marathon running etc. I think baseball as a sport has a lot of these types of injuries because of the movement required. Sprinting from a dead start, swinging a bat abruptly etc.
  13. Ok. So catchers don’t aim for the bag? The throw was six feet off target. The only reason they got him was a great play by Correa. Your love of vets is clouding your judgement.
  14. Great game by Buck obviously. Kiriloff getting a sac fly against a lefty was huge. Correas tag on Witt was amazing. Not a good throw from Vázquez but Carlos saved it. Let’s blow them out tomorrow because Jax and Stewart won’t be available.
  15. Almost has to be Martin. Farmer takes third and Martin platoons with Julien. I want nothing to do with Julien against lefties.
  16. yep. Justin seems like a really good dude and knows a lot about the game but he just can’t get to the point. Make your point and let the broadcast breathe.
  17. Just saw the highlight. Pulled quad for sure. This sucks.
  18. I’m not posting this to be snarky but get used to Julien et al sitting against lefties. The Twins clearly believe the metrics which suggest almost all left handed hitters suck against lefties. I’m fine with it especially when the right handed counterpart is a better fielder.
  19. My recollection is the Twins were willing to trade Graterol because they determined he was bound for the bullpen. One reason why some fans got upset was that Graterol was our first true flamethrower. Interesting guy - throws 100 but doesn’t strike out that many.
  20. I like the team. I would like it a lot better with another upper rotation starter or even a Clevinger. I’m predicting 87 wins a division flag and 3 seed in the playoffs. We will be different than last year in that the lineup will carry more of the load - I am predicting a couple of injuries to starters that exposes our lack of depth and holds the win total down.
  21. He is not a good pitcher. I get the multiple innings thing but they don’t really do that. He sat in the bullpen for long stretches last year.
