  1. At this point the most valuable aspect of the trade was not giving Berrios $130 million. Another option was to hang onto Berrios and take the comp pick after he walked.
  2. The analytics genius that has Duran throwing his curve and split more than his fastball needs to go. Did we notice how Bautista did it? Pure gas to set up the breaking ball.
  3. That’s crazy. Polo has been about the Twins best player over the last several years and has the best chance of jump starting this lineup. Not to mention Julien is the lead in the anvil chorus. He is one of the worst defenders to be brought up in a long while.
  4. That’s why he is worth a look at first but …. That’s why I wouldn’t hesitate to trade him. He has a better chance at first than Miranda if that is any consolation.
  5. He’s a butcher in the field and we already have a dh. I do wish they would give him reps at first but apparently that isn’t happening.
  6. The better question is what is so good about Max Kepler? He is a defense first player playing an offense first position. The corner OF spots are the only places to change in order to shake up this offense. And it’s not Maxs fault. The FO has failed to find a better replacement.
  7. The problem with Miranda (and Julien) is they can’t field. That means they have to hit at a very high level to be a dedicated DH. I don’t see either doing that so they would be my bait at the trade deadline.
  8. This is not a complaint rather a request. When writing these profiles please include other facets of his play besides hitting. In this case it would be nice to know if he is a reach to stay in center arm strength etc.
  9. He is a unicorn in that typically guys that tall throw hard and struggle with control. Ober doesn’t throw overly hard but has darn good control. He is my favorite Twins pitcher along with Ryan because he attacks the hitters. Some of our pitchers are nibblers like they are afraid of the hitter but not Ober.
  10. I find articles like this to be somewhat pointless. None of us knows what goes on in the clubhouse so it’s pretty impossible to assess his leadership or lack thereof. His hands are somewhat tied because it’s clear the FO sets the roster so he can’t just ship Kepler off to Siberia and there are so few bench players benching guys really isn’t an option anymore.
  11. He’s been what you could reasonably expect. Better than last year for sure. I don’t like the fit for him with the Twins but that is on the FO not the player.
  12. He will get some good rest and a break. Better for the Twins.
  13. Don’t think Ober has to worry about going to St Paul anymore. Man it’s fun to watch pitchers who pound the strike zone.
  14. They have a player development problem. If you look realistically at what they have done it’s almost nothing in 7 years. This excludes trades.
  15. It appears that the players want to lead the hitting meetings. The optics on this aren’t good as Popkins just got sent to the corner. And it took the players to do something not the manager or front office?
  16. Not sure I agree with the Pablo love entirely. He has an 8-0 lead and can’t go more than six? Quit nibbling and throw it over.
  17. Man on second. Two outs. Two strikes Julien takes a called strike three looking. Swing the effing bat. This crap drives me crazy.
  18. It’s not going to get any better. This is the lineup the FO compiled and there isn’t really any changing it. Polo healthy would help and Wallner deserves a shot. After that the cupboard is bare. Larnach can’t hit anything offspeed and Miranda and Julien are DHs. Who else is there? Anybody have confidence in this FO making the right decisions at the trade deadline? They do not deserve the chance to start over. They’ve tanked the farm system and compiled an aging roster that can’t hit or run and is mediocre at best in the field.
  19. I would add the Pressly trade for sure. We gave up a year and a half of a scarce commodity for essentially nothing. I think the Berrios trade is going to end badly. Should have kept him for another year and a half and gotten a comp pick. My prediction is that neither SWR or Martin do much in the big leagues.
  20. Another aspect of this could be too much information. The hitting coaches might be setting up plans that are too rigid. It seems like our hitters are locked into looking for certain pitches in certain counts. If they get a different pitch than what the game plan predicted they are screwed which is why we see so many strikeouts looking. Essentially we’ve got an entire team of guess hitters.
  21. I was very critical of Jeffers last year, particularly his defense. He has improved noticeably more than I thought possible. Castro is a great fit for the 26th man on the roster.
  22. Julien is an absolute butcher in the field. This whole mess would be avoided if he just makes the routine double play. No infield in so the duck fart to center is caught. He’s brutal. No way he is a future second baseman for this club.
