  1. Not a good look for the league. Has the weird twist that the Twins end up using their bullpen more. Don’t want to hear any more crap about respecting the game.
  2. Swing the fing bat. We all know that borderline pitches can be called strikes. Julien has a chance to do real damage at a critical part of the game and puts it in the umpires hands.
  3. I had patella tendinitis and once it got in there it was a bugger to get rid of. I would rest until the pain went away. As soon as I resumed activity it would come back. Finally knocked it out with steroids. There is cartilage on the back side of the knee cap (patella). Apparently you can grind it right away until you have bone on bone and then you are pretty much done. Hope that’s not where Buck is at.
  4. This doesn’t bode well for the future. I want Royce to be working out in CF all winter. Just too bad - watching Buck in CF has been one of the highlights of my baseball watching life.
  5. Another variety pack of home plate umpiring. The last pitch was 6” inside.
  6. Still agree with TK. You don’t know what you have in a hitter until they have 1000-1500 at bats. I would trade him for sure. He’s basically a DH so offensive bar to clear is pretty high.
  7. I think Varland would be the biggest help. I have serious doubts that Stewart will get fully healthy. Paddack is going to be rusty and pitchers often struggle when they first get back from tj. I don’t understand why people keep talking aboutAlcala. He’s been good once for 2 months. The rest of the time he’s been bad or hurt.
  8. As was so poetically stated in the movie The Sting “ that’s what you get for playing cards with your head up your ass”.
  9. For me the disappointment is rooted in the fact the FO has had seven years to build something and they really haven’t gained much of any ground. Many ways to argue the details but I get back this. We have a slightly over 500 team with a flawed lineup and deeply flawed bullpen. More than enough time to have constructed a better overall team. I am excited about some of the younger players but don’t really have any confidence that we will ever have a good much less great bullpen or that our offensive approach will ever have much consistency.
  10. I say yes and I feel even more strongly about that than I did when the trade happened.
  11. The offensive comparison is useful. The defensive one is not. Both are bad defenders but to split hairs with these percentile rankings is giving way too much credit to defensive metrics which are crude at best.
  12. Especially because this year anyway Jeffers is a plus defender and Arreaz is not. And Jeffers plays a premium defensive position.
  13. I would say if Camargo has a mlb career even as a backup it would be considered a good trade.
  14. Now ask me if this FO would be this aggressive. The Chan e is slim and none and slim just left town.
  15. That’s one of the reasons I like it. They can make it happen by only impacting guys like Gallo and Luplow. Kind of a potential big upside with hardly any downside.
  16. I like the aggressive nature of this plan. Might even include SWR out of the pen. I know he hasn’t been great in St Paul but if Sands is the bar to clear it might work. One caveat: if Martin comes up he has to play a lot.
  17. This will not be popular but…..both strike 3 calls against Gallo and Wallner were strikes. Nearly perfect pitches that cannot be taken for 3rd strikes. Fully acknowledge earlier pitches were horrible calls but at some point you have to have a different approach with two strikes.
  18. Interesting. You could win some bar bets with Taylor in third place.
  19. I get that you are a Kepler fan. I like Maxs defense also. But he’s playing a bat first position and the hitting just has not been there. It’s not really a controversial argument.
  20. I actually like Maxs swing and overall athleticism. But let’s be real he has not been good since 2019.
  21. Pagan and Kepler have been good the second half of the season. Was it worth 3 seasons of poor play from Kepler to get this good half season? Was it worth a horrible season last year for Pagan to get a better half season? It’s great if you are eventually right but there is a clear cost for the time it took for these players to finally produce.
  22. Yea the middle infield defense is noticeably better with Polo out there.
  23. This. A couple of weeks ago he was up with 2 outs and runners at the corners. He got a center cut fastball and took a hack so big he half cork screw into the ground. Next pitch takes a breaking ball looking for strike 3. It’s a scene that has played out over and over again this season with a lot of guys.
  24. Royce is really a good athlete. Just the way he moves to the ball is noticeably quicker and smoother than most 3 rd baseman.
