  1. Royce is really a good athlete. Just the way he moves to the ball is noticeably quicker and smoother than most 3 rd baseman.
  2. Starting pitching is huge in the playoffs so the Twins have a clear strength there. Unfortunately their lineup and bullpen are so volatile that even in a 3 game series there is likely to be at least one game where they score no runs or the bullpen blows it.
  3. For me it’s about health. If the training staff feels he is fully healthy at the end of this season allowing him to train this off season I absolutely pick up his option. Polo has been a really good player - odds are none of the listed replacements will be as good as Polo next year. Lee might be an exception but he might not be up right away. We will really need him if Lewis ends up playing CF. I hope everyone has noticed his fielding the last several games. He has saved several runs compared to if Julien was in the game.
  4. I don’t feel that much has changed over the years. With a certain group of fans there is no winning. Terry Ryan practically got blamed for bad weather. I believe most fans are fairly even handed albeit the quiet majority. The part that is irksome is for Souhan to act like it is unreasonable to question or have concerns about the team or front office. Perhaps he doesn’t follow the Twins all that closely as there are plenty of reasonable reasons to be critical.
  5. This. One of the many fatal flaws in building a bullpen by throwing a bunch arms at the wall and seeing if any stick.
  6. This is perfect commentary on the state of the bullpen and it’s original construction.
  7. Wallner and Lewis had good at bats. Swinging at strikes laying off the balls and battling. It’s interesting that they seemed to be getting fooled less than the veterans. Hat tip to Polo - he saved them a couple of runs with some slick defense. He and Correa seem to work together nicely.
  8. The premise of this is dubious at best - click bait. If the Twins ever did this the FO should be fired immediately. The kid is one of the Twins most valuable assets. You don’t screw with his development with a stunt like this. He will be up soon enough if handled properly.
  9. Julien has had promising stretches but it’s still pretty early. I think most people on these boards are overrating him as he really is a dh. I doubt he ever hits well enough to be a primary dedicated dh. Same problem with Miranda. If you can’t field you have to be an elite hitter and both are not likely to be elite.
  10. I’m not sure. It is an interesting question that I would not have guessed existed a couple months ago.
  11. Give Gray the QO and take the pick. I wouldn’t touch Mahle. His shoulder was a problem before the elbow and he was pretty meh here. Maeda I would definitely bring back - he’s pitching great and should age well as he doesn’t rely on velocity. In fact I would choose him over the other two even up.
  12. They both owe me an apology for having to watch them over the last couple seasons. I place more credence on their performance over the last several years compared to the last two months.
  13. Should have left Keuchal in. Game is done and now we are gonna fry our bullpen. Leave him in for 80 pitches and save the pen.
  14. He really has a knack for identifying strikes. And he doesn’t seem to be guessing which is a breath of fresh air compared to some of his teammates. I still subscribe to TKs theory that you don’t really know what you have until they get 1000-1500 at bats. who is this LaMonte Wade guy? Name is familiar…….
  15. I’m demanding an apology from whomever mentioned the Scooby Doo voice when they hear Luplow. Now every time I see the guy I’m now hearing the Scooby voice and I can’t get it out of my head. Thank you very little. 😀
  16. Good one Chief.
  17. Never thought of that. But now that you mention it he does seem to have a tendency to not make contact with the ball.
  18. Yea it’s been apparent for a while that he never is going to throw enough strikes to be counted on.
  19. The most frustrating part for me is that this isn’t a new problem. They frequently end up with subpar bullpens because their “process” doesn’t work. I started posting in spring training that the bullpen was going to be a problem by the all star break. They didn’t even make to the fishing opener. If your plan is everyone will be healthy and every young pitcher will turn out then you are planning to fail.
  20. Yea I had to re-read the stat line on mlbtraderumours. I thought it was his slash line against righties. Nothing move.
  21. I don’t have confidence in them anymore. The bad decision pile is growing much faster than the good decision pile. Their stubbornness in sticking with their process even when it’s obviously wrong is beyond frustrating. End result: 7 years in and we have a 500 team in a horrible division. They really overhauled the analytics department and minor league development staff but if it doesn’t result in good players and good teams what difference does it make? In some ways I see the minor league development as worse than before. It seems all our players are fundamentally poor. Time to move on.
  22. I really like that he is a well rounded hitter. We need more of that on our big league club.
  23. This is some fun news for a fan base that could use some fun. I would put him at third right now. He has the hands and the arm to be a great 3rd baseman. Lewis can play second or cf.
  24. Winder with two really good outings in a row. And why was was Wallner in St Paul?
