  1. You know Sonny will compete. He’s a bulldog. The worry I have is that the Astros will run his pitch count up quickly because Sonny doesn’t give in. Even though I like our playoff bullpen much more than our regular season bullpen I still see it as our greatest risk. Hopefully our lefty lineup breaks out and gets a lead. That might allow Sonny to attack more and stay in the game longer.
  2. MLB needs to share the official box that umpires are graded on with the networks. According to the tv box home plate umpiring is really bad. Would like to compare.
  3. I really don’t like big papi as a commentator.
  4. Now I will listen to big papi make excuses for his prediction that the Twins had no chance tonight.
  5. How about we don’t throw any more middle middle pitches to Alvarez.
  6. Lopez is a really intelligent good dude. And a helluva pitcher.
  7. Once again home plate umpiring is a variety pack.
  8. No way. He has to go at least one more.
  9. I kind of feel like playoff experience showed in this game. Verlander didn’t panic made some pitches and then got on a roll. Twins played a bit of a nervous game with some mistakes thrown in all around. Maybe they will be more comfortable tonight.
  10. Well I don’t have to show or prove anything. If you would actually read my post you will not see one mention of free agency. I don’t care what player acquisition method they choose. They just need to be a lot better doing it. The list of pitchers in your original post will not be an effective bullpen in my opinion. Enjoy the game.
  11. Because after the first three you listed those guys are not good. And they don’t spend money on the bullpen which brings us back to my original point. Their plan for building bullpen’s doesn’t work.
  12. Is he worth every penny? Absolutely because it’s the Pohlads money not mine. I sure would rather watch C4 play than know the Pohlads are even richer than before.
  13. The best reason to not put Buck on the roster is that there will be almost no pinch hit against a lefty opportunities in this series.
  14. Good decision. I’m also glad that Bailey is getting this chance as he handled a bunch of stuff this year very maturely. I also think we will see Maeda piggy backing Ober for sure.
  15. I try to give the FO credit where deserved. They have made plenty of good moves but make an equal number of bad moves. I’m glad Max had a great second half and they deserve some credit for believing in him. But let’s not forget Max was pretty bad from 2020 to 2023 mid season. So what was the right call? They have a rigid plan for bullpen construction that doesn’t work yet we do the same thing each year. Same thing with lineup construction. They go for the three true outcomes and wonder why their offensive output is feast or famine. Thankfully Lewis and Julien injected some obp to the lineup. I do think the best days are ahead of us. They have the framework of a good rotation moving forward and some good young players that will provide a diverse set of skills for offensive production. And while their farm system is a little tapped out they have a couple of really good players ready soon for the big leagues and this team doesn’t need much help in the short term. The bullpen remains a problem. They are more important than ever and this FO just won’t budge off of a strategy that mostly hasn’t worked.
  16. Completely agree with this. Ryan and that park could be a very bad combo. To the point where you are out of the game in one bad inning.
  17. I get your point but as far as other players making that play you can cross off anyone that doesn’t have an elite arm. Correa threw an absolute bullet to the plate and got him by a whisker. Anyone with less than an elite arm is not making that play
  18. If it was unsung hero of the pitching staff I would vote for Thielbar. The guy just does his job.
  19. Couple thoughts here. Managing now is not like before analytics. Don’t think for a second that plan wasn’t developed by the FO. Schneider just executed the plan (which I disagree with). I like Rocco. One reason why I don’t mind him is because most of the stuff he gets criticized for is dictated by the FO or his players. For example Sonny wants to pitch deeper in games and makes that clear which kicks off another round of criticism of Rocco. Here is the most important point: Sonny usually needs close to 90 pitches to get through the fifth. That’s the issue not Rocco. Pinch hitting: the FO has developed this strategy so whether any of us including Rocco like it, it’s gonna happen. Rocco seems like a smart guy who is learning and his players like playing for him. I’m good with that partially because I don’t believe in the fire in the belly BS.
  20. I think I would put Ober over Ryan. I don’t go for the “but he was injured “ stuff. You take the ball then you get the results. I understand why Sonny is first on the list but if we had game seven I would pick Pablo.
