  1. I would have let Henriquez go two.
  2. I’ve missed these posts but now I have time to ketchup.
  3. Permit me to add on one more factor. If the Twins pinch hitting philosophy was more traditional this problem would largely go away because it would be one at bat late in the game. With the Twins philosophy the “I can only hit lefties” right handed bat ends up playing up to half the game.
  4. I’m willing to pencil in Wallner for RF next year. I’m not worried about the strikeouts as long as he obliterates the ball when making contact. You can’t have many guys with his profile but one or two is not a problem
  5. Regardless of payroll the FO can easily do better than a will be 29 year old AAAA player. If they can’t they shouldn’t be in a MLB front office.
  6. Man the Rays can produce good young players. I was worried that the young starters were going to be a problem. Not so - this lineup needs a re make in the off season. I’m so done with “positional flexibility “. They need to start finding positions that guys are actually good at.
  7. The feast or famine offense is starving right now.
  8. I am not a big Julien fan but the look of joy on his face after that hit was great. Happy he gets something good happening to him.
  9. Oooooh that was Eddys pitch.
  10. Castillos uniform looks um………..challenged
  11. Geez the Rays have a better defensive SS than Cabellero?
  12. Yep. If he comes out for another inning that will tell you he will be dfa tomorrow
  13. Goodness sakes Tonkin is slow to the plate
  14. Why would you move Festa to the bullpen? His rotation spot would go to a worse pitcher. He’s also not pitched out of the pen. The premise makes no sense.
  15. Festa deserved better. Brooks good play gets canceled out by two poor plays.
  16. Could not agree more. It’s gotta get fixed before next year
  17. Why didn’t Santana extend his arm / stretch on that play?
  18. Thanks for writing these - always interesting. There is lots of Twins history. One idea for a story would be to write about how the Cuban players the Twins had actually got here. I bet that would be something.
  19. I said teams not the Twins. Here is what I know for sure: if you collect a bunch of bad pitchers because you don’t want to invest in the pen then don’t be surprised when you get crappy performance.
  20. You have a camera in your bedroom? What is your day job?
  21. Nobody is saying you have to hand out $10 million contracts. There is a large middle ground to be explored. Teams hand out good contracts to starters who bust all the time. Then it’s called a cost of doing business. If it’s a reliever than it’s some sort of brain dead decision that means the gm should be fired (in the Pagan example he probably should be as that signing is from outer space.
  22. In both cases Kepler and Margot anticipated being held and started slowing. The runner has one job in these situations- run as hard as you can and pick up the third base coach for a sign. Neither runner executed properly. Now both decisions by Watkins were horrible and he certainly has a checkered past in this area but in both cases nobody did their job. Which is not surprising- the Twins are not good at basic fundamental parts of the game.
