  1. Saw that. We’ve watched Max for the last time as a Twin.
  2. Tonight’s game is pretty much a must win since we have Ober on the mound. I would recommend to all the cheerful people posting on this site to enjoy the game. There may only be six more before winter.
  3. Just like every young player you don’t know what you have until they get 1000 - 1500 at bats. We will see. And people need to lighten up on his slumps comment. He clarified his statement to say that he doesn’t let slumps get him down like some players not that he won’t experience slumps.
  4. As frustrating as the past month has been I’m going to stay positive and hope for the best. It’s not impossible that the bats wake up as it’s happened before this season. I mean what good does it do to just give up? Plenty of time for post mortems after the season.
  5. Yea it does no good to get rid of just Rocco - it’s gotta be a package deal.
  6. With the expanded playoff format the supply / demand dynamic at the trade deadline got steep for acquiring players ( although some relievers were available for reasonable prices). I think the biggest missed opportunity was last off season. The moves made to address clear weaknesses were failures.
  7. I don’t care about rankings per se as they are so inexact. Bailey is a good pitcher who is pretty consistent. He usually provides a start where the Twins have a good chance to win. That’s really all you can want from a non ace and is really valuable.
  8. C4 is the only player we have that can play a good SS in the big leagues. Lewis cannot and Lee is not a good big league SS over the long run (I do think he will be excellent at second or third but he still has to prove he can hit). They need to figure out the best positions for Lewis and Lee and leave them there. This is how they will become the best they can be in the field.
  9. Look I’m as frustrated as anybody about what has happened to this team lately and never was a fan of Carl but the bit about Carl making his money off foreclosures has been debunked many times. Being critical of the Pohlads is warranted in my opinion. Spreading falsehoods about a dead guy is not.
  10. it would be hard to argue against that. It’s one reason why the Pohlads are nuts if they think we are going to thrive like the Rays or Cleveland with small payrolls. You have to have a top FO to pull that off. We do not have that.
  11. This is so true. It might have been TK that said the worst part of having a bad bullpen is how demoralizing it is to the team.
  12. The thing that comes to mind for me is the old saying about making chicken salad out of chicken***t. I thought maybe Rocco was going to use Varland for two innings but even that isn’t really a good second guess as Varland got lit up in the second inning of his last outing if I recall correctly.
  13. I guess RBIs do matter especially with two outs.
  14. Yep. The model doesn’t work anymore. The best solution in my opinion is to stream via mlb tv and sell over the air rights for one free game per week.
  15. This move pretty much sums up the Twins experience since the playoffs last year.
  16. Sometimes I don’t understand everything I know about that
  17. It’s not that complicated. 3 of their 5 starters are struggling and they get pulled for a bullpen that leads the league in inherited runners scoring. Their best hope is for the lineup to switch from famine to feast and just out score clubs.
  18. This. He gave up zero homers which was completely unsustainable. Regression is hitting him hard.
  19. People just got way ahead of themselves when it comes to Julien. His hot half season was on a babip of 372. The league hadn’t seen him and just needed time to adjust to him. He has two big problems: he is a one trick pony with the bat. The league adjusted and I don’t believe he have the tools to adjust back. Secondly he is so limited defensively that he will have to hit to a dh / 1st base level in order to play. I don’t think he can do that. Very few hitters can succeed when you swing and miss a lot. We might have one in Wallner. And don’t look now but Emma Rodriquez could easily end up being Julien.
  20. It’s not surprising that he is struggling with the bat. However I am pleasantly surprised at his work in the field. He’s made some mistakes primarily due to rushing plays but his arm is legit and can throw on the run and from different positions. He has soft hands and good instincts even playing three different positions. Assuming he hits he should be the third baseman for a long time.
  21. I noticed the similarities as well and let’s just say it’s not a warm fuzzy. If you swing and miss a lot it’s a problem unless you walk like crazy and have tons of power.
