  1. This was a good outing by SWR in that he was struggling with command but managed to make enough pitches to get some outs. Many times pitchers in the same situation get blown up.
  2. Excellent article! A bunch of good info. Hopefully he can have good command in the bigs. I believe that will be the key.
  3. I’m doing this from memory so…..but if I recall the Twins have gained zero ground on Cleveland during the Twins hot streak and have now dropped back even further. Nothing is impossible but as the games click by without the Twins gaining ground makes the math really hard for winning the Central.
  4. On a more serious note. Wouldn’t the Twins want him to play more than two games at 2b before calling him up to play that position in the bigs?
  5. In fairness to you Royce really retooled his swing. I wasn’t a fan of the big leg kick etc during his early years in the minors.
  6. I’m skeptical of defensive metrics in general and really skeptical for middle infielders. There is so much going on that will never be included in a metric. How you turn the double play how you feed the double play handling cutoffs and tags. These are all areas where Correa excels and Julien doesn’t.
  7. I think his relentless optimism is a factor. Most of us limit ourselves because we have a mental limit on what’s possible. Not Royce. Combine that with Uber talent and this is what you get.
  8. My mother told me that if I don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all so everyone have a great day.
  9. What a pleasure to watch the game. Did not think I would see a complete game by a Twins pitcher this year. This is Ober at his best in that he used all his pitches extensively and threw lots of strikes.
  10. His velocity and stuff are still there. It’s more of a command issue. He may get it back or not. My question is if you dfa him who are your lefty relievers? Okert and Funderburk? No thanks.
  11. They definitely could use a leftie reliever. I think Thielbar will find it again as his problems are more command than stuff but Okert is mediocre and Funderburk is AAAA. The amount of love he gets on this site is more prospect puppy love.
  12. I was heckled a bit last season / winter when I said to hold off anointing him the second coming. The bapip was really high and clubs were starting to make adjustments. He now has been pretty bad almost as long as he was good last year. Neither outcome is likely where he ends up. And as a bat first guy he has to hit.
  13. Ouch. According to the paper this morning Max is day to day so they aren’t making a move. Will be interesting to see how long he is out.
  14. The execs at Comcast are all looking at each other asking “who is Tina Smith?”
  15. The problem with these suggestions is that you can forget about anyone that is making any money. The sidearming right handed in the Rays pen looked tough. Don’t know what his status is though.
  16. I see Lee played 2nd but hasn’t he mostly been playing SS? I wonder if he would get called up to play second with so little experience there. He’s kind of a thick bodied guy - looks like a third baseman to me.
  17. I agree about pitching used in trades. The rest of it no. The article is about drafting and developing pitching not trading for it. And if you folks are including Winder Funderburk and Varland then you are really stretching it. They are minor leaguers who have not proven to be major leaguers.
  18. I have no info whatsoever but I’m saying right now put Max on the IL. He’s famous for making day to day turn into a week. Perfect chance to see if Wallner is ready.
  19. I love Royce. I think he has a chance to be a legendary Twin. When it comes to comparing homers I want to stick up for my favorite Twin Harmon Killebrew. As a bonus baby he had to spend his first year in the big leagues. I doubt he had many at bats but whatever the number was they were as an 18 year old.
  20. What? They are deciding who they spend their draft picks on. The pipeline has produced two pitchers in 8 years. You can make all the excuses you want. That is not a good track record.
  21. This is the biggest urban myth of all. This FO has 8 years at the helm. Their drafting and development of pitchers consists of Ober and Jax. That is hardly an impressive resume. I’m hopeful on some of the minor leaguers but they mean nothing until they are getting outs in the bigs.
