  1. With durability concerns in the rotation I wonder if they start with a 6-man rotation?
  2. It really seems THAT simple to me. People will say stuff like "can he pitch"? I wanna smack em. We have Carlos Correa for at least 6 years. That...is...all :)
  3. I don't care what anyone...or anything...or any stats say. It's Carlos Correa. And he'll be with the Twins for the next 6 years. Mic drop......
  4. People will question this...because we're Minnesota sports fans. I don't care. I don't care about anything other than IT'S CARLOS FREAKING CORREA!!!!!!!!!
  5. Were it not for Buxton injuries would we have even seen Celestino's MLB debut yet? Absolutely HAVE to be patient with him. Already a good (not great yet) CF defensively. IF...and it's a big if...there is any reason to bring in a more veteran 4th OF that can play CF and hit RH, it's to let Celestino play every day in St.Paul in order to develop the bat.
  6. I don't get why so many are of the "I'm sick of it/don't care where he signs/etc". People...he is one of the best players in all of baseball. I know there's fear of effectiveness/health at the end of the deal, but if the Twins can add him I don't see any reason not to be just as excited as we were when they snagged him last spring. Let's say sign him for 8 years/$240 million and then he's "Carlos Correa" and is an all-star SS for the next five years. Front load the contract so he gets $35mil for the first five years and give him $20-25mil the last three. Maybe you have to move him to 3B for the rest of the deal. Five years from now that 20-25 mil won't be near the albatross it would be now.
  7. I'm going to play devils advocate here. Why is no one talking about the possibility that Gallo plays LF and Keper stays in RF? Kiriloff and Larnach are going to have to prove they're healthy. Gordon is a utility guy. Kiriloff will play plenty of 1B if healthy. I've also heard the FO thinks Gallo can be very good 1B. I'm not sold that Kepler has one foot out the door.
  8. Was really happy for Gordon to see the improvement in 2022. Feel he definitely has a role....now, about all of those popups and flyballs.....
  9. And Larnach....and Kiriloff.....and Gray.....and Mahle.....and Alcala......and Polanco.....and Kepler/Gallo.....and Ober.....and Maeda.....and probably Winder when Ober pulls a hammy.....and probably 3-4 I missed.....
  10. Very possible. Always been and "East Coast bias" in pro sports. But it's true he may be more appreciated nationally,,,hopefully be those who fill out HOF ballots anyway!
  11. Well...I appreciate the work Nate. While I don't think there are many possibilities that this team shouldn't consider, trading assets for a 3B may be one of them. Miranda...Arraez...Farmer...Brooks Lee (possibly, eventually) tell me a RH bat may be added, but at a different position.
  12. If Joe Mauer had played in New York he's a first-ballot HOFer. As is, I wonder if enough voters are aware of a) just how good he was or b) the fact that concussions ended his time behind the plate too soon. For 10 years he was the best catcher in all of baseball and the accolades should be enough to get him in...even if not on the first try.
  13. It's all Monopoly money, but the two contracts I would have loved to see the Twins do if they hadn't been waiting with all of their eggs in the C4 basket are the Bassitt and Contreras deals.
  14. Oh good lord....now we're going to have to hear even more on C4.
  15. Even if Correa had been brought back, the success of this team for 2023 and beyond was going to be determined by the development of most of the guys listed here. So, I don't hate this whole idea. I actually like having Vazquez to work with young pitchers. If Gallo has a good first half, he could be moved for prospects. I agree that a trade of Maeda shouldn't happen til mid-season to see if he can increase his value...cuz I don't think you're getting much for him now. I feel like this scenario allows FO to see what they actually have with all of these young guys. Maybe then they can make better decisions about what type of FA needs to be added for 2024. And that's a BIG maybe.
  16. One of the big reasons I was always glad I was a Herbie Fan!
  17. I'm SUPER happy for Taylor Rodgers. He's a genuinely good dude. I'm also SUPER happy he'll get to play with his brother. I'm also SUPER happy the Twins didn't do that kind of a deal for him....as cool as it would have been to see him back with the club.
  18. Anyone else notice, when talking about the roster, off-season moves, etc., we read words like "hopefully"..."maybe"..."in on", etc. A LOT????
  19. Gross but true. The Twins may win this trade by attrition only. Pagan and Paddack are still with the Twins. Maybe the (likely misguided) hope that Pagan and Paddack may give you SOMETHING means they win. And now I'm going to take a shower,,,
  20. Hope springs eternal I guess. But when is the last time the current regime...FO, manager, coaching staff, etc., has helped someone improve? Especially a hitter? Honestly, this move makes about as little sense as any I can remember. The $11 million just makes it ridiculous.
  21. I'm an old school guy. I admit it. Relative to fan apathy/attendance. I wonder if the constant flipping of the 26-man roster makes it hard for fans to "invest" in this team. I wonder if the complete lack of interesting baseball...Rocco basically just going off his computer printout, 4-5 inning starts, no stealing, no hit and run, the 3-true-outcome approach at the plate, etc., just have made baseball, and especially this team, harder and less interesting to watch. Twins fans are loyal. We love to hear about prospects and then see them come to the majors and then be the team we watch on the field. The constant slipping of players makes that hard to do. The development of prospects only to see them traded for someone because they have a couple years of team control makes emotionally attaching to a team hard to do. The 2000s Twins had so many players beloved by this fan base. They were successful with players the organization developed. If the FO really wants the fan base to buy in, both literally and figuratively, I feel like that's the way to go. So...no more talk of trading prospects. Do a better job of developing and coaching them instead.
  22. I agree on every single one of your thoughts on this. Every...single...one.
