  1. Clevinger's stuff seems diminished and his K/9 rate decrease backs that up. Manaea's ERA last three seasons...4.50, 3.91, 4.96 make me wonder what all the hype is about
  2. With Falvey/Baldellilama/Analytics-driven insistence on not having pitchers face a lineup a 3rd time I really don't think they're going to spend on SP. Do we really want them to if he's only allowed to go 5 innings? And we've seen the blueprint on a bullpen...we may not like it, but they won't spend there either. So...what do I think they do? I have absolutely no clue. Personally, I'm hoping (foolishly) for Correa.
  3. I'll admit it. I've always been enamored with Jacob DeGrom. Man, what a shame that he's been injured so much, because he's one of the pitchers in baseball who is must-see-television. That said, they'd be crazy to offer him much. Although.......Paddock....Mahle....do I see a pattern here?
  4. Even if a Woodruff-type pitcher is added I don't know that theh lineup will be good enough to win enough to make the trade worth it?
  5. My money is on Varland. SWR could probably used another 12-15 starts at AAA. Winder, at 26, isn't really a "prospect" anymore...it's time for them to find a role he can be successful in and with his struggles in '22 it may just be in the 'pen. So Varland is your #6 starter as of now and SWR could be #7. My hope is they add a top (ish) of the rotation piece and slide Ryan into the #5 spot. That makes Ober #6, Varland #7 and SWR #8.
  6. I often wondered if the issue with the Twins was treating injuries or was it in how players were physically prepared during ST to handle the regular season. Or...both? It speaks volumes to how bad it has been that Seth has to write an article on a new head trainer. Seems like exactly the kind of guy they should want.
  7. No thanks on anyone after #1-5. I guess the plus of any of the top 5 on this list is it slides Joe Ryan to the #5 slot.
  8. I've stumped for Iglesias for a few years. Solid (not great) both offensively and defensively. You know exactly what you're getting For me...it's 1. Correa 2. Bogaerts 3. A stopgap like Iglesias and get ready for the Royce Lewis era...and spend the money on a catcher and pitching (any pitching...SP or RP)
  9. I'm fine with Jeffers. Key will be which back-up, FA catcher they bring in.
  10. To deviate from the "process" or "plan" would be to admit they made a mistake. I don't think Falvey is real keen on admitting he was wrong.
  11. Probably not the one he's looking for, but still likely more than the club would be willing to pay him...or for longer than he's willing to pay him?
  12. I think it depends on what you think of Winder and Varland. I'd guess one of the three is the #5 starter, one is in the 'pen and one is at AAA as a starter.
  13. Hildenberger...Curtiss...Vazquez...Viscaya...Moran. The bar isn't real high for Sisk to better than the previous five winners.
  14. Level of concern for Lopez is rising. Hasn't looked real good under the "tutelage" of the Twins....shocking.
  15. In another article, Nick says "Hope Sinks"....let's be honest. Hope left the station a while ago. But, today is a nice reminder that Joe Ryan will slot in very nicely as the #4 starter next year. Maybe as he gains more experience he'll learn how to get really good lineups out. At the very least, Mahle-Gray-Maeda-Ryan has the potential to be a very nice top 4 in the rotation in 2023.
  16. Injuries happen...in all sports. HOWEVER, it completely baffles me how an organization that stresses "rest and recovery" above all else, including common sense at times, can be completely incapable of keeping players healthy...and even worse at getting players healthy again after they've been hurt. It's so far beyond frustrating you can't even see frustrating from where we stand!
  17. Or...at the very least...figure how to keep pitchers healthy (or find a training staff that can)
  18. The short (and correct) answer is...good lord let's hope so!
  19. No great mystery here....the "burst of momentum" comes against bad teams, and the "screeching halt" comes against good teams. That is all.
  20. I'm not an eternally optimistic or pessimistic Twins fan. What I am is a realistic Twins fan. Here are my 5: 1) Arraez wins batting title 2) Duran and Miranda both finish top 6 in ROY voting 3) Twins finish below .500 and in 3rd place 4) Mahle misses the rest of 2022 5) Buxton joins Mahle and misses the rest of 2022
  21. Other than Verlander making the lineup look like the JV, was this not the most predictable near-no hitter ever?? Who takes the blame for this mess? Rocco or the "training" staff. How can an organization that prioritizes the dreaded "rest and relaxation" above all else, have SO many players injured/unable to get healthy?! Beyond frustrating.
  22. This must be what if felt like to be on the Titanic
  23. I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out what on Earth Rocco is doing with his bullpen. It seems like for most of their relievers it's less about "roles" and more about which 3 hitters in the opponents order they think a specific reliever can actually get out. As for Pagan, it's clear they're so enamored with his whiff rate that they don't realize he hasn't been good since 2019.
