  1. And Larnach....and Kiriloff.....and Gray.....and Mahle.....and Alcala......and Polanco.....and Kepler/Gallo.....and Ober.....and Maeda.....and probably Winder when Ober pulls a hammy.....and probably 3-4 I missed.....
  2. Very possible. Always been and "East Coast bias" in pro sports. But it's true he may be more appreciated nationally,,,hopefully be those who fill out HOF ballots anyway!
  3. Well...I appreciate the work Nate. While I don't think there are many possibilities that this team shouldn't consider, trading assets for a 3B may be one of them. Miranda...Arraez...Farmer...Brooks Lee (possibly, eventually) tell me a RH bat may be added, but at a different position.
  4. If Joe Mauer had played in New York he's a first-ballot HOFer. As is, I wonder if enough voters are aware of a) just how good he was or b) the fact that concussions ended his time behind the plate too soon. For 10 years he was the best catcher in all of baseball and the accolades should be enough to get him in...even if not on the first try.
  5. It's all Monopoly money, but the two contracts I would have loved to see the Twins do if they hadn't been waiting with all of their eggs in the C4 basket are the Bassitt and Contreras deals.
  6. Oh good lord....now we're going to have to hear even more on C4.
  7. Even if Correa had been brought back, the success of this team for 2023 and beyond was going to be determined by the development of most of the guys listed here. So, I don't hate this whole idea. I actually like having Vazquez to work with young pitchers. If Gallo has a good first half, he could be moved for prospects. I agree that a trade of Maeda shouldn't happen til mid-season to see if he can increase his value...cuz I don't think you're getting much for him now. I feel like this scenario allows FO to see what they actually have with all of these young guys. Maybe then they can make better decisions about what type of FA needs to be added for 2024. And that's a BIG maybe.
  8. One of the big reasons I was always glad I was a Herbie Fan!
  9. I'm SUPER happy for Taylor Rodgers. He's a genuinely good dude. I'm also SUPER happy he'll get to play with his brother. I'm also SUPER happy the Twins didn't do that kind of a deal for him....as cool as it would have been to see him back with the club.
  10. Anyone else notice, when talking about the roster, off-season moves, etc., we read words like "hopefully"..."maybe"..."in on", etc. A LOT????
  11. Gross but true. The Twins may win this trade by attrition only. Pagan and Paddack are still with the Twins. Maybe the (likely misguided) hope that Pagan and Paddack may give you SOMETHING means they win. And now I'm going to take a shower,,,
  12. Hope springs eternal I guess. But when is the last time the current regime...FO, manager, coaching staff, etc., has helped someone improve? Especially a hitter? Honestly, this move makes about as little sense as any I can remember. The $11 million just makes it ridiculous.
  13. I'm an old school guy. I admit it. Relative to fan apathy/attendance. I wonder if the constant flipping of the 26-man roster makes it hard for fans to "invest" in this team. I wonder if the complete lack of interesting baseball...Rocco basically just going off his computer printout, 4-5 inning starts, no stealing, no hit and run, the 3-true-outcome approach at the plate, etc., just have made baseball, and especially this team, harder and less interesting to watch. Twins fans are loyal. We love to hear about prospects and then see them come to the majors and then be the team we watch on the field. The constant slipping of players makes that hard to do. The development of prospects only to see them traded for someone because they have a couple years of team control makes emotionally attaching to a team hard to do. The 2000s Twins had so many players beloved by this fan base. They were successful with players the organization developed. If the FO really wants the fan base to buy in, both literally and figuratively, I feel like that's the way to go. So...no more talk of trading prospects. Do a better job of developing and coaching them instead.
  14. I agree on every single one of your thoughts on this. Every...single...one.
  15. Heard on KFAN that L.Neal was coming on to discuss the Twins FA signing. Got home before he came on. Ran to my laptop to check on TD who it was. Imagine my surprise when I read it was Joey Effing Gallo. My immediate reaction was anger and to throw up a little in my mouth. I thought, maybe I was wrong. So...I checked out the comments. I'm sure glad I'm in the majority on this one...make that the 95% on this one. Which is appropriate b/c I'm about 95% out of patience with Derrick Falvey....I'm not calling it Falvine anymore. It's clear Falvey is calling the shots and doing all of the interviews where he spews one predictable cliche after another.
  16. The veteran bat that interests me is JD Martinez. That's about it. He can DH. Probably could figure out how to play a little 1B. Look, after losing Correa, it doesn't matter which FA they now add....either way, they HAVE to have a couple of the Larnach, Kiriloff, Miranda, etc., take big steps forward. If they don't, 2023 is going to be a lost season no matte what. I say sign Martinez to fill the DH/Part-time 1B role and let the young guys play the other spots. If some young guys progress, a lineup with Miranda at 3B, Farmer at SS until Lewis is ready, Polanco at 2B, Kiriloff/Arraez at 1B, Larnach in LF, Buck in CF, Kepler in RF, Vazquez at C, Martinez at DH isn't terrible.
  17. My two cents....Carlos Rodon was never coming to Minnesota. And the Twins were never going to give any pitcher 6 years. Period.
  18. If rumors we heard of offers Twins made, then it sounds like Falvine made a competitive offer and effort to get him. 13 years is just ludicrous...for anyone. We'll see how the FO pivots from here. Is it Rodon? No way Swanson comes here. I guess it's Kyle Farmer season at SS until Lewis is ready?
  19. Besides all of the obvious reasons to like the Vazquez addition, here's another: Adding him didn't cost them any prospects. B/c they've been unable, to this point, to develop any top(ish) of the rotation starters, they've had to deal good prospects for guys like Maeda, Gray, Mahle and Lopez for the bullpen. Now....get Correa.
  20. All great points Cody. I agree with others...if Swanson deal vs Correa deal is commensurate to Swanson vs Correa themselves, he still make sense. How about someone write an article called "(At least) 3 Reasons Why Dansby Swanson Is Not Kyle Farmer"?!...lol
  21. All great points as usual Ted. Between what the Twins already have under contract...all of the guys you mentioned, the 3-5 spots in the rotation should be well-covered. I've said all along I only want to see a guy who can be a frontline starter. The guy who I've always liked is Eovaldi...front-line stuff. If they can get him on a reasonable deal, I'll take 15-20 starts from him and deal with some of the injuries.
  22. So what I'm hearing is that Jeffers catches Gray and Maeda (assuming Maeda is in the rotation)?
  23. I honestly really like this move. Interesting how a FO that is completely analytics-driven now seems to understand that things like "clubhouse presence" (See: Correa, Carlos) actually matter and are an immeasurable value.
  24. Sick and tired of hearing who the Twins are "in on". I love reading stuff on this site, but the current FO and their insistence on "waiting out the market"....in other words, bargain shopping....makes reading stuff like this all the more frustrating.
