  1. Seems like this FO has always developed players and then move someone to 1B if their initial position doesn't work out....Kiriloff for example, and then that guy isn't all that good defensively at the position. Maybe it's time they actually develop guys to play (and actually be good at) 1B.
  2. Connor Joe feels like the most Twins move of the bunch given his positional flexibility
  3. The eyeball test tells me SWR is a #4ish starter. But if you have a consistent #4 starter out of a him, there's certainly a lot of value in that.
  4. First of all the term "Golden Batter" or "Golden At Bat" make me think of Willy Wonka. But it makes sense.....a stupid name for a stupid idea. If Rob Manfred really gave a hoot about baseball he'd be pushing both players and owners toward a salary cap. Manfred thinks speeding up the game (which I was all in favor of by the way) will renew interest. Wanna renew interest? Make most of your fan bases believe they actually have a chance to win. I'm already dreading when the current CBA expires (I believe in 2006?) because I think we're going to go a LONG time without baseball.
  5. I would guess that anyone...anyone...connected to the Twins in any way shape or form that actually care about winning baseball games does NOT regret the signing. I guess that just leaves a couple members of the Pohlad family (I'm looking at you Joe)
  6. Goltz was such an underrated pitcher on some....not very good Twins teams. If I had to vote one it's Perk. If two it's Perk and Goltz
  7. So the REAL question seems to be.....how do we get the MLBPA to threaten a grievance against the Twins?!?! :)
  8. We should not be surprised....this is exactly how Falvey has shown he thinks you build a bullpen. Couple studs at the back end....handful of ok arms and analytics the bleep out of it :) I guess I'd rather see a bunch of arms that are actually good but this is what we have. Failure to add a quality left-handed reliever would be malpractice.
  9. Kids like this are why I think Jax needs to stay in the bullpen.
  10. 100% with you Doc. Any production from Topa = win for the Twins. Gonzalez could tip it even more so. Polo was a great player for the Twins, but I agree that they don't need to bring him back.
  11. Prospects that miss...like Winder, are probably one motivator for why they draft the way they do now. Draft a lot of darts, throw them all at a board and hope a couple hit.
  12. In a word....NO. We've seen him as a starter and it was....not very good.
  13. People keep barking about what we got for Polanco. Do we all realize that if the Twins see him as valuable they can get him back....and cheap? He's a FA. Maybe HE'S the second basemen next year. At the time the Twins thought they were getting a solid reliever in Topa and a Top 100 prospect in Gonzalez. DeSclafini was to even out the money as a throw-in. Hindsight is always 20-20. But at the time I though it was a steal for one year of Polanco.
  14. I LOVE this idea. There is some truth that a 4th OF could be added. Would it make sense to add a guy who can share CF with Buxton? Allow Buck to play LF or RF 60 games and CF 60 games? It would buy another year for Rodriguez to develop. Then maybe in 2026 you make him your regular RF or LF.
  15. Thanks Nick. Always enjoy the work. I love content like this. I'm sick of hearing about "right-sized payrolls", crappy TV deals, Correa trade rumors, tone-deaf owners, etc.. GIve me content that shows the glass is still way more than half full for this team. Love the inclusion of Keaschall on this list. With the talk of what they will do at 2B, his name rarely seems to come up. This organization will only go as far as their player development can take them and if he looks ready in ST I see no reason to not give him a shot.
  16. To me, the Prielipp pick has always seemed like Falvey trying to outsmart everyone. I get that he was a first-round talent that they got later, but I'd still just rather take a still talented player that was actually healthy. Sort of like I'd rather see Falvey just get pitchers that are actually healthy instead of hoping to find value in arms depreciated in value b/c they've been hurt.
  17. I'm going to bang this drum until proven wrong. Move Canterino to the bullpen and see if that allows him to stay healthy.
  18. Two things. 1) This might be the case right up until Joey's mandated cost cutting means they have to trade Correa. 2) It explains why they brought in new hitting coaches to provide a better offensive approach b/c the production sure didn't match up with this kind of ranking
  19. Given that the club was acting like a mid-market one, the signing of Correa was a HUGE win. In hind sight, acquiring Paddock made sense given the extreme cost of starting pitching....if you get 10-15 starts for $7 million is cost-effective. Unfortunately, Joe Pohlad decided to "right-size" the payroll before putting the team up for sale. Now, the FO is stuck trying to adjust on the fly. So we get Correa trade rumors. Rather than simply put Paddock in the bullpen (a place that I think he could be very productive and MAYBE stay healthier), they're stuck trying to move him (a move that will likely cost them a prospect in the 20-25 range). Thanks Joe.
  20. As a life-long Minnesota sports fan, this, sadly, seems like the only possible outcome.
  21. I'm not sure if a pitcher can lack durability to be a starter but CAN have durability to be a 75-appearance bullpen guy. People smarter than me can figure that out. But I've often wondered if Prielipp and Matt Canterino could be just that. It certainly would be a good way to get valuable production out of two of their better arms.
  22. It didn't seem like the organization had him prepared at all to play in the outfield. I think he's best suited (his ceiling?) as a 4th outfielder who can play CF and LF/pinch runner
  23. I don't know that trading him now would be selling "high".
