  1. Seems like as players have gotten bigger and. stronger.....they also get hurt more often. Maybe if Royce allows himself to just be athletic again, rather than bulking up, he can stay healthier.
  2. I wonder if the lack of chatter on Brooks Lee is to just take any pressure off the kid. Drafted as a SS. Played SS in college....seems like a transition to 2B should work defensively? Would take some work, but Castro's greatest value is his defensive versatility. Playing him Castro at 2B seems to negate most of that. Here's hoping Lee forces his way onto the 26-man with a great spring.
  3. I think by the end of the year, SWR and Festa both make a lot more starts than Paddock. It's a long season...Paddock will be in the rotation to start the year. Festa will be in St.Paul IMO. That's fine...he'll get plenty of opportunities once injuries start to set in.
  4. We all know it. I think the FO knows it. I think Rocco knows it. Seems like Louie has been resistant to coming around to it. HE BELONGS IN THE BULLPEN. When I see what the organization has done with guys like Jax, Duran, now Cole Sands, I'm excited to see what they can do with Varland. He just needs to buy in. As for a spot, Stewart will be on IL by end of April. Not sure best strategy wouldn't be to just keep Stewart on ice until Sept/October?
  5. I'll believe it when I see it.....we all know the ridiculous lengths Rocco will go to play matchups and platoon.
  6. Festa, Zebby, Raya, Lewis, Morris....an exciting young rotation at St.Paul!
  7. 100% agree. He maybe gets a little work at 3B. I just wish they'd commit to him as a 1B and give him the time to work at it....whether that's with the big club or in St.Paul
  8. Miranda's only possible future defensive position is 1B. If Rocco thinks this guy is going to play a lot of first base, they may as well send Miranda to St.Paul and let him play first every dang day.
  9. Don't think he's ever an "ace". But, man would 28 starts of what we saw last year by awesome!
  10. I honestly don't think it affects Miranda. It gives the Twins another option but either way, Miranda is going to have to show in ST that he can handle the position on a semi-regular basis. Ditto, I guess, for Julien. I'm just really down on Eddie
  11. If I watch a game, I understand what I just watched enough that I don't need anyone to spend 1/2 hour explaining it to me.
  12. I'd love to see Lee be the everyday 2B. Let Julien go to AAA to see if he can rediscover something from 2023. Regardless of who "wins" the 5th spot (it's SWR), Festa likely makes 15-20 starts at least in 2024. Matthews probably >10 somewhere?
  13. Couldn't agree more Seth. Me personally....I don't ever need to see Mickey Gasper, Mike Ford, etc in a Twins uniform. The question that keeps popping into my head is "Why do we have no one in the system that seems to be able to play 1B?" Why do we have to wait until guys like Julien get to the bigs and THEN realize he can't play 2B....so, what's left? Let's just move him to 1B. The signing of Santana shows the FO values a good defensive 1B, but organization seems to do absolutely nothing to develop one?
  14. "One could argue this is a good thing, and many fans probably will view it as such. I myself would love to see key hitters like Larnach and Wallner get more chances to survive a tough sixth-inning AB so they can remain in the lineup when a righty reliever swings around three innings later." This was my stance all of last year. I think we are 100% in agreement. Thanks for the work Nick.
  15. If I had to guess, I'd say Martin and/or Castro will get those spot starts in CF when Buxton has a day off or is DHing. If Buck gets hurt....then Keirsey as a regular option might make more sense. None of the three are difference makers offensively, so going with the best defender might be a good idea.
  16. So happy for Corey. Guy worked his tail off to become a good defensive 3B. Solid, consistent producer. An an even better person. Congrats Corey Koskie!
  17. If Gasper actually was good at catching I'd think he would have done more of it in the minors, especially with the importance of the position. I hope I'm proven wrong but I just have a hard time seeing him getting much action with the Twins barring injury.
  18. Always seemed pretty simple. Max Kepler was a solid major league player, nothing more. Really good defensively and mostly slightly below average offensively. And that's ok. With Sano it just seemed to come down to hard work...seemed like most springs he came in out of shape.
  19. Helman is a nice story...easy guy to root for. But he'd be first to go for me bc of inherent value of pitching and catching. I have no idea what to make of the Gasper acquisition.
  20. I really don't think one predicates the other. We all know the organization has almost no catching depth. The Cartaya trade, IMO, is to pair him with Camargo at AAA and improve that depth. Not saying Vazquez won't be dealt...but I'm not sure that's why Cartaya was acquired.
  21. Terry Felton was not a bad pitcher. I wouldn't say he was good...as mentioned, too many walks and was clearly rushed to the majors. But definitely more hard-luck than anything...those were some dark days in Twins history.
