  1. Well, looking at it "glass is half full"....if injuries cause Rocco to have to use Miranda at 3B, Julien at 2B/DH, and Martin in some capacity, AT LEAST he has guys with a bunch of at bats/innings. That said, I canNOT imagine there is a worse defensive combo at 3B and 2B in MLB than Miranda/Julien.
  2. No spin. I bet that sucker moves like a knuckle ball! :)
  3. A switch hitter who can "play" 3-4 positions, including being an emergency guy?? Sounds like a guy Rocco can start everyday! :)
  4. Am I crazy to think that even if Lee goes to 3B (likely) I still am not all that interested in having Julien at 2B? Keaschall was reassigned so guess that's our fate. Julien is just the definition of a "butcher" in the field.
  5. Is there anyone who DOESN'T seem to need a good start??
  6. Better question might be whether they will invest in 1B AT ALL.
  7. I'd guess we'll see Miranda at DH more than 1B. They just need to make sure he gets enough ABs to answer the question about his hitting.
  8. I just don't see any value in Julien that has any thing to do with putting on a glove. And he seems to have forgotten how to hit.
  9. I'm on record.....I want Brooks Lee to be the everyday 2B. Period.
  10. I really think that every time he takes off, Rocco worries about injury. He may get 15-20 when the opportunity is too good to pass up but there's no way they risk injury on the bases.
  11. Size and athleticism to play 1B or LF. If he gets back to hitting, I have no doubt there is a position he could excel at defensively.
  12. Here's what I'd like to see. Let Paddock make 12-14 starts and pitch 60-70 innings before he inevitably gets hurt. Manage Festa's innings at AAA. When Paddock goes down, Festa replaces him for good. Paddock goes on IL for who knows how long and when he comes back put him in the bullpen to replace Stewart, who will likely be out by then. It seems like the only path to getting something for your $7.5 million.
  13. Given the mid-market that is the Twin Cities, simply spending more has never been the issue for me. It's how tone-deaf the Pohlads have been in regards to their fan base. They simply are not baseball fans, they are businessmen. The time after the playoffs in 2023 when ownership comes out and says they're cutting payroll is, in a nutshell, what is wrong with their ownership. No one expects them to overspend on a yearly basis, but you have to strike when the iron is hot in baseball. Hitting the gas pedal when the winning window is open would go a LONG way toward engaging their long-suffering fans.
  14. I like these no-risk, potential upside MiLB signings. Always worth a flier.
  15. Bischoff and Canterino are REALLY interesting future bullpen arms for me...
  16. The pitching pipeline is full....which is really exciting. Pitching is the most expensive/overpaid position in free agency, so hopefully they won't have to dip into that much, if at all. Now....about the organization's complete inability to develop catching depth. Or maybe a quality 1B? Nitpicking I know....
  17. If I were a betting man...which I'm not....Brooks Lee goes to AAA and waits for an injury at 2B, SS or 3B. Gives him some time to get off to a good start offensively and play all 3 positions for the Saints. Allows him to play everyday and be ready to play full-time when the opportunity presents itself with the big club.
  18. Gotta love the depth. A lot riding on health of Lopez, Ober, Ryan, Duran, Jax. Those guys will be the anchors. We know injuries will provide plenty of opportunities for Festa and Matthews. The St. Paul Shuttle should allow innings for whichever relievers don't make the initial 26-man.
  19. ....all that said, I'm really excited about this kid's future. Love the speed and offensive profile.
  20. Another young guy being asked to play about 17 different positions and not getting enough reps to be good at any of them. I get the man-crush is for "flexibility". But for defensive purposes, I wish the organization would allow these kids to actually work at a position or two. The Twins were a poor defensive team last year.....it may not be the only reason, but I can't help but wonder if this "master of none" approach to establishing positions for players is at least part of the reason.
  21. I thought they should've had him playing just LF and 2B in St.Paul. Those seem to be the only positions where his skill set is best suited. Not a great arm. Speed. Hit hitting is more of a 2B prototype than anything. Baseball is SO much about reps....I'm really hoping if they maybe narrow down his positions and get him more reps at those positions his athleticism will start to show out more.
  22. Well, he hasn't really been "good" anywhere defensively to this point. To answer the question in the article title...Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
  23. Starting pitcher prospects seem like darts. The more you have to throw, the more likely you are to hit a bullseye. If Langenberg profiles similarly to the other guys mentioned here, that's awesome. The more solid prospects we have, the more likely Twins are to be able to fill out a rotation without having to spend big in FA or trade prospects for the Tyler Mahles of the world.
