  1. I've been in the trade him mode since the end of 2020. I really enjoy watching him play, however a slap hitter with virtually no speed and average at best defense that plays a couple of positions that are well stocked by more rounded players or players with higher upside can be traded without a serious downside to the team.
  2. I see Arraez as having more value as a trade piece than anything. Sure he has a decent OBA, but he has poor speed, really isn't much of a fielder, is a singles hitter that kind of clogs the bases for those behind him. He would probably play great in a large park like Coors where he could shoot some gaps, or even a place like fenway to bounce of the monster.
  3. Thats a great pitch to have but if you're going to be a good starter you better have a couple more good pitches to go with it.
  4. Not bad but I'm a little nervous depending on Rooker at DH. Also I think Ray will get more in FA than estimated.
  5. Nice post. I think Arraez will be shopped (possibly in a package with Kepler or Sano) for a High end starter, I do think we will make every effort to come to terms with Buxton, and I pretty much agree with the rest of what you have written.
  6. I would prefer a Mondesi deal though I don't know if that would be possible. DeJong would be fine though getting expensive. Taylor probably will be priced out of range but if not would he even want to play here?
  7. I wouldn't trade Garver yet. Jeffers hasn't proven he can hit big league pitching yet and Garver has. I would be looking for trading partner for Arraez and Kepler. I think Seager stays put.
  8. I think you may be a little high on your base. Front loaded 7/125 would be a reasonable offer. I don't like incentives based on games played but rather things like HR, RBI, H, OA, OBPA, etc. Games played can be manipulated by management and I've seen times that some players have been upset thinking they were held out because of contract concerns.
  9. I don't see that the Twins have much of a choice but to re-sign him. He is willing to take an incentive laden deal (at least he was last summer) and according to reports both sides agreed on the base salary. If you're going to hang up a deal with a guy that has the potential to be a rare type of talent over the incentive package that would be like cutting off you're nose to spite you're face. What, are you worried that the guy guy will perform so well he meets the goals? Isn't that what you want?
  10. I doubt he would want to come to the Twins anyway. They have offered him competitive contracts before and no interest was shown.
  11. I'd say it all depends on demand. If there is a change in the DH through the new CBA then there will probably be a high enough demand that the price tag moves the Twins out of the bidding. However, if the DH isn't implemented in the NL then the demand may not be that high and depending on his asking price signing him would be worth considering. As mentioned above, he did so much for the clubhouse that you can't really measure. Was he in decline so much at the end of the season or did the trade and new surrounding just mess with him a bit. He said he loved it here and maybe that made a difference in how well he performed? I only know, I for one would love to see him back.
  12. I would like to see what he could do at short for a while IF we can't get a mid-tier free agent or perhaps trade for a starter until Lewis is ready. Otherwise who else do we have? I strongly say NO to moving Polo back, just leave him alone to do his thing at 2nd, and it will take some time before Lewis is back in game shape. Looking down the minors is it Polacios? I don't think so, not yet anyhow.
  13. Moving him back to ss should be out of the question. Leave him at 2nd. Its obvious thats where he belongs
  14. I agree with points 1 and 2. However point 3 I would look at a package of Arraez and an outfielder for a solid starter to go along with Pineda, Smith and Ober. I would go for a Front line starter in Free agency, and sign a 2nd tier shortstop in free agency. Unfortunately, due to money probably getting low at this point, I am probably forced to keep Colome and work him into the bullpen equation. Unless something else opens or the owners can open the pockets a little more I dont see another way around it.
  15. Thats very interesting. I can see where that could be an advantage Twins. Thanks!
  16. I think you keep JD unless an offer that really wows you comes along. I would explore trades involving Arraez as I think there would be better chances of getting more advanced pitching prospects. He is younger and cheaper.
  17. Lets not forget that pesky CBA that will probably give most if not all teams at least slight pause in negotiations with free agents.
  18. If the Twins were a playoff team as they ere supposed to be this year people would probably be saying he had a good year.
  19. I think the Twins made the right decision at the time when they released Eddie, though I hated to see him go. He was so much fun to watch because he could really blow up a play (unfortunately either way). I'll always pull for Eddie and wish him well, but no way was he worth the money he would have made in arbitration that final year.
  20. I keep reading how people are worried about hitting for power. If the kid can hit .270 or so and run and play above avg. defense I don't care if he can't hit for power.
  21. I don't see the the Twins signing any of the above. However, there are several in the "step below" class that may be available on a 1 or 2 year deal. Or maybe the team that does decide to make the big splash and sign these guys would make a trade for the incumbent SS. Lots of possibilities when so many good players at the same position are free agents the same year. Of course, we still don't know what the new CBA will look like either. Lots of questions.
  22. I'll add #5. Buxton and the Twins agree on a new contract.
