  1. We also have some duplicate infield assets such as Arraez, Donaldson, & Sano if we make room for a certain infielder that tore up AA & AAA (Miranda)
  2. Millionaires vs billionaires. Both sides more concerned about winning than about what's good for the game and the fan. They both seem to forget, without us, the fans, they have nothing.
  3. Fill the rotation with #2's and #3's with a solid pen and this team WILL compete.
  4. I agree that one of the two could be flipped but I would hesitate flipping both unless the return was just too good to turn away from, and I don't see that happening. I could see Jeffers traded with someone else for an established starter, or alone for a ready to go prospect.
  5. I can only imagine that managing a bunch of "stars" would be extremely tough, probably harder than a few stars and the rest role players. I don't know anything about Tingler or about the situation in San Diego, but somebody with managerial experience to take some of the load off Rocco should be seen as a plus. I was told by a very wise man a long time ago if you don't make mistakes you can't learn. I choose to hope that's the case here for the entire team from the front office down to the bat boys.
  6. I think they both belong in the HOF. Oliva was one of the most feared hitters to face and were his career not cut short by a brutal injury probably would have been a shoe-in with the numbers he was on track for. Kaat was not only great on the field but was (and still is) a great example of what a major league ball player should be and act like. Total class.
  7. Kind of fun to do the "what if" thing. Too bad reality and greed sets in at contract time.
  8. If Cobb is the best we get I'm afraid it will be another long lost season. I agree we will need to trade for a frontline pitcher, but I also think we should be able to sign a good (maybe not top) starter. Add in Pineda (I hope) and the 2 kids to make 5. Add a closer to the pen and I think this team can contend.
  9. If the Twins are going to spend the big bucks on pitching and end up stretched on payroll they could do worse than Simmons. He isn't my choice #1 or #2 but sometimes you take what you can afford, and we could do worse.
  10. Tough to get amped up about this team after such a terrible season, so thanks for some positive info! Great article!
  11. Garver is a solid #1 catcher and should be kept. Jeffers and Rortvedt have to show they can hit in the bigs consistently.
  12. I've been in the trade him mode since the end of 2020. I really enjoy watching him play, however a slap hitter with virtually no speed and average at best defense that plays a couple of positions that are well stocked by more rounded players or players with higher upside can be traded without a serious downside to the team.
  13. I see Arraez as having more value as a trade piece than anything. Sure he has a decent OBA, but he has poor speed, really isn't much of a fielder, is a singles hitter that kind of clogs the bases for those behind him. He would probably play great in a large park like Coors where he could shoot some gaps, or even a place like fenway to bounce of the monster.
  14. Thats a great pitch to have but if you're going to be a good starter you better have a couple more good pitches to go with it.
  15. Not bad but I'm a little nervous depending on Rooker at DH. Also I think Ray will get more in FA than estimated.
  16. Nice post. I think Arraez will be shopped (possibly in a package with Kepler or Sano) for a High end starter, I do think we will make every effort to come to terms with Buxton, and I pretty much agree with the rest of what you have written.
  17. I would prefer a Mondesi deal though I don't know if that would be possible. DeJong would be fine though getting expensive. Taylor probably will be priced out of range but if not would he even want to play here?
  18. I wouldn't trade Garver yet. Jeffers hasn't proven he can hit big league pitching yet and Garver has. I would be looking for trading partner for Arraez and Kepler. I think Seager stays put.
  19. I think you may be a little high on your base. Front loaded 7/125 would be a reasonable offer. I don't like incentives based on games played but rather things like HR, RBI, H, OA, OBPA, etc. Games played can be manipulated by management and I've seen times that some players have been upset thinking they were held out because of contract concerns.
  20. I doubt he would want to come to the Twins anyway. They have offered him competitive contracts before and no interest was shown.
  21. I'd say it all depends on demand. If there is a change in the DH through the new CBA then there will probably be a high enough demand that the price tag moves the Twins out of the bidding. However, if the DH isn't implemented in the NL then the demand may not be that high and depending on his asking price signing him would be worth considering. As mentioned above, he did so much for the clubhouse that you can't really measure. Was he in decline so much at the end of the season or did the trade and new surrounding just mess with him a bit. He said he loved it here and maybe that made a difference in how well he performed? I only know, I for one would love to see him back.
  22. I would like to see what he could do at short for a while IF we can't get a mid-tier free agent or perhaps trade for a starter until Lewis is ready. Otherwise who else do we have? I strongly say NO to moving Polo back, just leave him alone to do his thing at 2nd, and it will take some time before Lewis is back in game shape. Looking down the minors is it Polacios? I don't think so, not yet anyhow.
  23. Moving him back to ss should be out of the question. Leave him at 2nd. Its obvious thats where he belongs
