  1. Although I would love to see a trade like this happen, it probably is just toobig with too many moving pieces. Also it probably makes too much sense.
  2. Why don't they give Polacios a look if he is still here after the rule 5 draft? He can't hit much worse than Simmons and would be a whole lot cheaper. Reports say he has played decent short at AA.
  3. Maybe, just maybe, this is part of the reason the game is losing its popularity. Afterall, I can go out to any beerball softball field and watch guys "swing for the fences" for free any time. As far as here to stay goes, maybe you're right, although I personally hope its just another disturbing trend. I truly miss the players like R. henderson and wills and Carew that could steal bases. I tend to get bored watching guys striking out at absurd rates or standing stationary on base hoping the next guy up can hit it over the fence. I'm sure there are some that like this brand of baseball, but how many like it only when their team is winning?
  4. Again I see players with lower Avg. If these are our top hitting prospects we are in a world of hurt. I don't know how long this club can survive with this all or nothing approach. Its fine to have a few guys like Sano in the lineup but you need to score runs without depending on the homeruns.
  5. I always liked Bert, but I think it should be pointed out that hir relationship with the fans took a real hit at the end of his 1st tenure with the club, when he was booed and flipped off the crowd. Too his credit, he came back from that and really made people forget about a childish act by an at the time very immature player. I love the way Bert transformed himself over the years into a much better role model for others to follow, and I for one, miss him in the booth.
  6. That is the kind of hitter a lineup needs. Power AND avg. As I see things now, there is a wide open left field. Can Miranda play there? If not then if Arraez is still here put him there.
  7. One area they can improve on is getting back to basics. Doing the little things correctly. It seems like too many of our hitters are in an all or nothing mode. Are ther any TK students out there that can teach these guys some of the fundamentals of the game?
  8. Seems like low batting avg, players. I hope we have some guys that can hit for avg and not just all or nothing type hitters.
  9. I agree the pen may be the place to start out some of our young pitchers. It has worked well as pointed out above for others, why not try it with a couple of our guys. Let them break in out of the pen. See what they got. Hopefully they can gain some confidence and take off from there.
  10. One of my all time faves. Big Herbie. Loved watching the guy guy play.
  11. Although the price would be high I would go for Lopez. He is a proven ace type. A pitcher we can build a staff around as our youngsters develop (hopefully this season). Add in Pineda and focus on the pen and ss from there IMHO.
  12. I believe the authors age may factor a bit in the rankings, though I won't argue with any that have been picked so far, I'm thinking at the end of the series there will be many who have their own order of rankings.
  13. While I am pulling for the "hometown" kid Wallner, I am anxious to see Martin. I keep hearing about his lack of power. If the guy can get on base, run, and play defense, a lack of power doesn't concern me at all. Sounds alot like Arraez plus running and defense.
  14. I can agree that Knoblauch was One of the best 2nd baseman in Twins history, but being a bit older I will always consider Sir Rodney Carew as The best 2nd baseman in Twins history.
  15. You give a team 5 middle-of-the road starters and a slightly above average pen plus an above average offense you will have a fun team to watch and probably ateam that could compete at least for a wild card. Besides that, it seems likely the new CBO will expand the number of teams making the playoffs. Once there, it becomes whoever gets hot. After this season, I'd be happy to see fun games to watch again. Provided we get to see them play again this season.
  16. I agree completely. Thats why its so important to develop pitchers from within. Hopefully, with the number of young guns coming up there will be 2 or 3 more guys that can fill out the rotation for years to come as more develop.
  17. Unless something in the CBO changes, there is nothing that says they have to spend it.
  18. They may have been tarred a feathered if they didn't sign Buxton and only signed Bundy.
  19. I am old enough to have seen Tony O play out his entire career, and he was great. He could hit for power, average, was clutch, and before the knee injury could run. In the field he was also great. Good range, would get great jumps, I honestly don't remember him ever just dropping a ball, and he had a cannon of an arm. There is a reason he is in the Twins Hall, and because he is such a nice guy. Tony O, You are loved by so many in Twins territory!!
  20. I really don't see a team willing to trade a quality MLB caliber starter straight up for Lewis at this time. He could be part of a package but even then there are probably only a few teams that would consider a trade. All the other teams know the Twins roster situation which would drive the price tag even higher for a quality pitcher. Unless there is a team with a serious need for an athletic unproven injury prone player with as of yet no real position, that has a pithing surplus (how many teams have that) The price would be quite high IMO.
  21. I'm sure a lockout/strike really helps revive a "dying" sport.
