    Arraez, because he just flat out can hit. Godoy, because he's a better catcher than Sanchez. Gordon, Because the kid is a swiss army knife who can run. Rooker, because he's a right handed bat. I leave Larnach in AAA to begin the season to continue working on hitting off speed stuff to build his confidence. He will be back up soon though IMO.

    I can't help but wonder if the Twins would have cut bait quicker last year on Shoe and Happ if they didn't get off to such a horrible start out of the gate. The team was buried by the end of the 6th week of the season last year.

    I think Larnach starts in AAA, at least for a few weeks. He still needs to show he can adjust to hitting the off speed stuff. The HBP may very well have knocked him off his game last year, but as I remember, what really messed him up was the pitch selection. Let him regain some confidence in AAA for a few weeks then see where things stand.

    Interesting. I agree that its time to do something about long streak type players. Nice when they get hot, but killers when they are cold. Need STARTING PITCHER!! Has anyone heard if Houston has figured out the rotation crunch yet or if they are still thinking about dealing Odo?

    There is a difference between unproven and unknown. What I meant by unproven was that most of our prospects don't have even a full season above A ball due to covid and or injuries. I don't follow the Rays all that close but I doubt they are starting guys out very often unless they have at least a full season or 2 in AA or above before promotion. Most of our prospects missed the entire year 2 seasons ago, and many missed big chunks of last season due to arm issues. That IMO is unproven.

    yes but the Rays have the guys to do it with. Almost all of our guys are unproven, even at the AAA level due to shortened season and injuries. IMHO we MUST add another proven pitcher, not even top of the order type, just someone that has enough of a track record to be counted on. Maybe mid 4 ERA with an avg. of 5IP per start?

    Glad to read the young players are making adjustments already. The sooner they learn to adjust on the fly the more successful they will be!

    I HATE this rule. I could live with it if they imposed it later say inning 12 or so, but it completely changes the way the game is managed with pitching strategy, and hitting strategy. I understood why they did it due to covid, but this compressed schedule is of there (players and owners) own doing and now they should live with it. As the saying goes, you made your bed, now sleep in it!!

    I admit when I got up at 7AM and saw the flash on my phone I thought it was a joke. It wasn't until a 1/2 hour later when I started looking at my computer and saw all the stuff on there, then went here, that I could believe it.

    Back injuries are hard to predict. As one who has dealt with back issues for the last 40 years now I have a certain amount of knowledge on the issue. Lower back injuries can be worked on and the muscles built up quite a bit thru PT in my experience, where upper back injuries are much more difficult to work on. The advances made over the last 15-20 years in pain control to help is amazing. Its no longer how much pain can you take before you need narcotics. There are several other ways that an athlete can couple with good solid training to minimize a chronic type back pain. The key is to keep in great physical shape. It appears to me He has kept himself in good shape and I'm sure the Twins staff will make sure he continues too.

    The twins have done this before, so why not now. If not Duran, it seems there are others.

    That would be a great deal for the Twins, Though I think the A's would want more MLB ready players.

    Who knows, maybe this new catcher they picked up off waivers can play short, and start a game here and there, and in a pinch can come in from the pen.

    It depends on who else they would include IMO. The only guy I see as a no trade guy at this point is Buxton. It all depends on the return. Hopefully better than what they did with the Yankees.

    I agree. I'll miss JD. I just hope he's injured when we play the Yankees. I'm still waiting for the "rest of the story" as on its own this trade made no sense, other than payroll dump of course.

    Hitting for power is great, but to be great you have to be able to hit the ball! Compare these guys strikeout rates to Killebrew and its shameful. I guess this is the new "sexy" way of hitting, but I'll take a guy that hits .280 with 25 HR over that guy that hits .220 with 40 HR all day.

    this trade is a puzzle. They must have something else in the works.

    this just doesn't sound right for either team to me. I hope the Twins are getting more out of this. Seems a bit one sided towards the yanks once you add in Rortvedt. Last I heard this hasn't been confirmed by either team so maybe its not quite a done deal yet, and they are still working out details?

    I agree that Gray is a good step in the right direction. I still have mixed feelings about the trade for IKF. Time will tell if Jeffers can hit well enough or if we'll be looking for a catcher come July. We still need more pitching for the rotation and the pen. I'm surprised they didn't go after Kikuchi from Seattle. I saw he signed for like 12.5 mil a year for 2 years I think? Why not take a flyer on someone like that? Long ways to go before I would say this team is really to be taken serious as a playoff threat, so lets see if this FO can pull off any other moves that matter.

    I think it would be foolish to give up much for prospects this year unless we get someone that is under contract (or willing to sign long term) for more than 2 years. IMHO we are better off signing 1 or 2 mid-range free agent starters on short term contracts to see how the youngsters develop either in the minors or in the pen. After all, I see this as more of a transition year. With the new playoff format, come trade deadline, make a decision then. Are we in a position to go for it? By that time, we should have a few more months to evaluate the prospects too.

    I would be interested to know how the so called expert scouting services had these guys rated. Were the Twins reaching? Were they signing guys they knew could sign? were they staying away from certain agents? Lots of questions.

    Buck is truly a game changer, and probably a generational type of player. All he needs to prove that is health.
