  1. I agree with Stevenson. Not sure they want Ober in the pen in round 1 though. If Stewart comes back, and it seems to be trending that way, The top of the pen looks like Duran, Thielbar, Stewart and Varland. Add in Pagan makes 5. The only way Ober gets in is during a blowout by one team or the other.
  2. Didn't they get swept on the road in Cleveland? With this being at Target Field I'd bet on the Twins. O wait a minute, Isn't there an 18 game losing streak? Maybe need to rethink.
  3. No doubt in my mind Ryan is #3. He got knocked around a bit last night but I just don't see a better option at this time. IF they win round 1 I'm guessing Ober is #4. Maeda is in the pen, Keuchel is out.
  4. Once we clinch, decide if there's enough of chance for #2 or not. If the odds are long, I would rest him 2 and play him 1 to keep him sharp. He will be needed in playoffs. Hopefully an off season of rest will correct the problem.
  5. I think the Twins will be playing Texas in the 1st round. The team I worry about is Tampa, though Baltimore would be very tough too. Whoever wins the AL is probably going to play Atlanta, who I believe to be the best team in the majors.
  6. I think Ober will be starter 4 if they win the 1st series. I expect Maeda to serve in the pen. I agree that Gordon probably noy on roster. I wouldn't be surprised to see Floro left off too. I would also like to see Stevenson on for pinch running. I'm curious to see if they try to squeeze Paddock into the pen.

    Royce Lewis: ROY?

If he stays hot I'm thinking he should be in the running. Other players have won on shorter seasons. He has been outstanding. Will be interesting to see a full season with him hopefully healthy!
  8. He throws strikes and works fast. Now lets hope he can continue into the playoffs and not let the pressure get to him.
  9. I enjoy watching him keep batters off balance using the fastball to slow curveball. They should keep him as long as the guy is getting outs.
  10. The kid is just a rookie! Give him some time already. Next year let him get some at bats against some of the "weaker" lefties. IMO he's going to be a star in the near future!
  11. If they gat past round 1 they will almost certainly need a 4th starter, who IMO should be Ober!
  12. Isn't it amazing how winning changes the outlook of managers. While I agree that Rocco IMO would be in the lower third of manager rankings, getting the influx of players (like Julian, Lewis, and even Wallner) can make any manager look better.
  13. I agree. In addition, I expect them to put in a qualify offer to Gray (though I don't think he agrees), and I wouldn't be surprised if they try to sign Maeda. I'm also thinking they may try to sign Mahle to a deal similar to Paddock. Their need is relief pitchers.
  14. He is still one of the best and most reliable hitters in the lineup. Though not a gold glove candidate he isn't a butcher either. 10.5 is a bargain.
  15. They will cut down the size of the pitching staff by at least 2 I would guess, and with a couple of extra spots I can't imagine they leave Wallner off. He may not start, but could be a pinch hitter off the bench.
  16. This FO did a great job building depth for this year everywhere but the pen. That is a big problem heading into October. I hope Stewart can come back in time. I anticipate Lopez, Gray and Ryan will be the starters for the 1st round, which may leave Ober available for the pen. If Stewart gets healthy then it isn't quite as scary.
  17. My guess is Jays or Mariners. Jays are better matchup IMO, but they can really hit. Mariners have as good if not slightly better pitching than us so I could see them shutting us down. Either team would be a tough matchup.
  18. Its getting less and less likely they get Buxton back. Played 1 game (at least part) in CF and couldn't get thru the next as DH. Unless he can play the field, IMO he doesn't need to be added. Let him rest or get something done with the knee.
  19. If he can handle bullpen work in the minors, give it a try. What is there to lose? Hopefully, we get thru the 1st series on the strength of the starters, hopefully getting into or thru 7. Not a lot of innings to cover after then. I'm more concerned about Jax right now.
  20. I agree his DPs are a bit concerning, And that he should probably hit in the 5 or 6 slot. But, I still think he brings value to this team. His defense is fun to watch, he hits for decent power, and IMO the OBP will improve in the future. In addition he brings a certain quality to the team that they seem to need.
  21. IMO all 3 of these deals fall way short of what the Mets could get.
  22. they've been able to rise above and separate, thanks in large part to young breakthroughs and sneaky good offseason pickups by the front office. Lets not forget the fact that for the 1st time in years we have a very good starting rotation! That and the fact of rookies coming along is a huge reason anybody is talking post season.
  23. So if you move Julian to 1st and put AK in left, Wallner DH, and rotate between AK, Julian and Wallner at DH? IMO they all need to be in the lineup most days along with Polo.
