Lewis and Buxton would be my guess if they can stay on the field. Wonder what the odds of that are?

Just imagine for a minute what would happen if Ohtani doesn't come back right from TJ surgery. Now the Dodgers are paying a guy an affordable 2 mil per year for 10 years and still owe him all that deferred money. Now imagine 5 years from now the age catches up to him. The dodgers can afford this, but the Twins would be crippled paying that deferred money for a guy that isn't even playing. And what if the next CB contract puts in some sort of clause that counts the deferred money? Any mid-market team could be sunk by that. I agree it would have been great to get a superstar like him, but IMO the risk isn't worth the reward. After all, he and Trout couldn't get the Angels to the playoffs.

After going to SF to help a friends family move back up to Mn, I wouldn't live there. Mt impression was a filthy city with homeless all over and we found many needles from addicts just laying in the streets. My friends family was getting out of there because they didn't feel safe about their kids.

Another Mauer memory for me is when he would go back on a poput as a catcher and reach around the screen to catch it. With the protective screens now we'll never see that again.

I am one of those older fans closing in on 70. I would love to see a streaming alternative to satellite, as the cost of the extra's add up. I no longer attend games due to the cost, the access, and safety in the area. This last season I saw every game on TV, and kind of set my schedule around them. IMO the best thing the Twins could do is operate their own Bally's type programing, and maybe try to form a partnership with the Wild and even the Wolves. I don't know much about the details of doing such a thing, but I believe it is being done by another team or so.

Should the Twins Try Their Own Bullpen Brother Act?
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They better get more pen help. Depending on cost, I think getting big brother would be a gamble worth taking! -
Who Do You Trust To Start a Playoff Game?
Karbo replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
4 guys with durability issues. Hopefully Ryan and Ober stay heathy and can improve on the durability with a season behind them. Varland is a bit of a wildcard. Paddack will be on an innings limit for sure and may be a bullpen arm by playoff time.- 52 replies

Is the Twins' Austin Martin Ready to Drive?
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IMO he ranks higher than Gordon. He has a record of high OBA, he can run, steal bases, hits RH, and doesn't K much. Gordon has more power potential, K's too much, and has speed but doesn't steal bases. Give the guy with a higher ceiling (Martin) a chance to see what he's got. Is he part of the future for this club?- 47 replies

IMO we won't know until Feb. who all is in the pen. History tells us this FO will add one or two minor league FA with an invite to ST, and decide from there. I think Alcala will get an opportunity and who knows what happens.

Carlos Correa Can Make Up the Difference for the Twins
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If he can play in the field. Buxton ,like many others, just don't perform well as a full time DH. -
Looks like Festa and SWR are next in line. The others all probably need mor seasoning in the minors. I think they got a couple more in the minor league rule 5 draft. I haven't read much on them.

Who Will be the Twins' Utility Man in 2024?
Karbo replied to Hunter McCall's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think Farmer will be traded to save money. I would rather see Martin than Gordon. Gordon has some power but even with his speed he doesn't steal bases. At least he hasn't yet. Castro has the utility role to start IMO.- 39 replies

Looks like the best choice to buy out Bally, if that is the price tag. Then the question becomes do the ownership group want to pony up that much. On paper it looks like a good deal, but there's a lot more to know.

Minnesota Twins Trade Candidate: Isaac Paredes
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
While replacing some of Gray WAR with a hitter, I don't think that will help that much towards wins. They need help in the rotation, plain and simple. Paddack will be on an innings limit, Ober has had health issues, Varland shouldn't be counted on for a lot of innings either. Use the trade capital for a good SP!- 29 replies

The Twins Daily Table Setter - December 5, 2023
Karbo replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IMO a starter has to be priority #1. That's where my trade capitol would go. On a side note, The Pioneer Press is reporting that Buxton is moving well, better than at any point last season. His health really has an impact on any trades for an outfielder.- 28 replies

IMO they will get between 100-120 innings out of Paddack with a sub 4.00 ERA and a sub 1.2 whip. They will definitely need to add another starter through a trade. If not pre-season, by the trade deadline. I think Varland will be OK, maybe a little higher whip and ERA, but I doubt they can get much more than 125 IP from him either. Looks to me like they could end up with an overworked pen.

Buyer Beware: Ranking the Twins’ Worst Contracts
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Too small of a sample size for Correa to be judged, especially when the injury is factored in. Buxton is not a DH, and unless they find a fix for his knee should consider retirement. Too small of a sample size on Vazquez, but his defense helps boost his value a lot. Dobnak was a mistake plane and simple. A 1 year wonder.- 43 replies

Lots of red flags there. Which Jax shows up? Thielbar staying healthy as age creeps up? Stewart having a history of arm issues? Is Funderburk for real? Lots of questions. That said, if lucky with health, it should be above avg. I agree that a minor signing or a year "prove it" type contract will be made.
