  1. The Twins calling up James Beresford a few years ago in September was not about winning games.. Every year you will find players rewarded with a call up and play based on the merits if service to the organization. Drew Magglie was another. As noted earlier, the game was moot from the start. If it is as you say moot now,, it was moot them
  2. If If If. How about complaining about something that actually happened.? Sorry, you are coming across as a complainer/ whiner to me. Invent a reason then complain Late season baseball, September call ups get chances to play on non contenders. That really isn’t playing to win. Do people complain about them playing? Nope
  3. It made no difference win or lose for the draft. Colorado was going to be the 3d worst team in baseball, the Twins were going to be the third worst team by record in the playoffs. Some people just have to go overboard on the negativity
  4. You forgot to add Luplow’s pitch count in your box of relief pitcher usage. Let us all hope that he is not needed in the playoffs Celestino might get picked up by somebody if they think he can play CF.
  5. No player is left in baseball from the 2004 to 2010 teams. On the current Twins it is only Kepler, Buxton, and Polanco that were on the last full season playoff team. The game is played by the current players, not the organization. I would really hope that the players will focus on the game on not anything they were not a part of.. Of course, people will not let that happen
  6. Selective history could be the problem here. Use was you need, ignore the rest The other possibility the writer was just plain ignorant of anything before they were born or does not think it is valid because it was sooooo long ago.
  7. They can get a similar player in the rule v draft and not give up an asset
  8. Is Castro going to remain the 2 war player he has shown this year for 400 PA or is he going to regress back to the replacement level player he was? A significant arbitration increase from 1.8 million is likely. If Prato is deemed capable, Castro is replaceable, especially with regression. The question would be how good of prospect or relief pitcher can you get.
  9. I recall reading a few years ago that the old notion of make any contact with 2 strikes was actually less productive than normal swings. BAPIP has remained static while K% has gone up. If an increase in strikeouts was due to not “choking up” there should be a corresponding increase in BABIP because there are less of the weak grounders in the infield.
  10. With Ryan it may depend on how good the other team hit HR. In the 6 games he has pitched in he has given up 4 HR. If Twin bats have been quiet enough for concern, giving up a HR would ba a concern.
  11. In a 2 win series one pitcher gets you only half the way there. Winning baseball is a team effort. It will take a few of the hitters to come through.
  12. We shall see how they do in the playoffs. Then you will have an answer to if they were right on their bet, Being the 8th best team in the AL while playing in a weak division is not n endorsement of their acumen
  13. Pitch count will determine how many innings they pitch. They rarely let them go over 100 for a game. They should get through 6. If all is going well. 7 with efficiency. Less if it is hammered time Hopefully it is hammer time. Can’t touch this.
  14. When there are 3 bad teams in your division, 11 bad to mediocre teams in the NL and 4 other bad to mediocre teams in the AL, I don’t see how the numbers can balance out.
  15. For the first round playoffs the other AL team hosting would be Tampa. I don’t think who would draw the most viewers would be an issue. It is not like either team is a draw. Toronto, Texas and Seattle. 2 of the three. Again, not that big of a draw. ABC/ESPN doesn’t have an interest in Canada The analysis of who should play should be off how the players have hit off the better pitching. That is a split that is not readily available.
  16. Wins seems to matter. Eflin is the only pitcher to win half of his starts and pitch the whole season.. He better be in the mix for the award. Better include Kyle Gibson in the mix, he has 14 wins as well as Bassit and Luis Castillo. Wins do seem to muddy the pitcher. Err picture
  17. East coast bias, both ways. Some could think Gausman is doing better than Cole, Some could thing Valdez in Houston. Maybe Ohtani gets a vote. Gray’s best hope is to be in second place on all of the ballots that he is not on first
  18. Nice starts by the players. It isn’t always the fastest horse out of the gate
  19. Dean Chance threw 17 innings of relief. The other 647 innings were as a starter. 34 complete games will eat innings. A Twins fan who did not realize Chance was a starter? Who woulda thunk that?
  20. Severino will be 24 in 3 weeks. Many people consider that getting old for a prospect
  21. Over the last 2 years Jax has pitched the 6th most innings of any reliever. They need to give his arm a rest. He did not start relieving until last year. His arm might e getting a little worn
  22. The left handed pitcher problem will not be solved this month or next month. It would not hurt the Twins to sign as many LH pitchers who will be minor league free agents and sign them with an invite to spring training. Then you would at least have batting practice pitchers for a while. The Twins batting coaches seem to be more about mechanics than adjustments. I could be wrong on the coaches. When there have been numerous times words about hitters needing to make adjustments, either they are willfully not doing it, or do not know what adjustments to make. One is a player problem, one is a coach problem
  23. Wing on the all time Milb Twins HR list does not look like a good long term career move to gain stardom
  24. I think there is mud, a wall, and throwing motion in this story. I might e a little forgetful but it seemed like at one time TD was about what was actually going on during the season
  25. Paddocks average fastball velocity with San Diego was 94.1, 94.1, 94.9 so his fastball returned to what it was.
