    What stat do they use to determine 100% back? With a counting stat like WAR, of course it is going to be down.. They are likely not pitching for a full season A pitcher’s stamina is going to be down. No throwing for 4-6 months. Building back takes time. The timetable for recovery can be 18 months so a lot depends on the when a surgery is done for early season results Lopez might not be back to full strength until the middle of the season. So yes, he might not be as good in 27 Then again there might a short season so he has more time to build back up

The pitcher they gave up for Hader is showing potential, otherwise not much success out of the prospects they gave up. People remember lots of prospects being given up. They don’t remember the outcomes

    .765 OPS is not washed up. With the same number of AB, that would be 5th highest on the Twins 5 OOA at 1b. Twins don’t have anyone else other than Lee with that. Rarely does a team find long term in FA other than paying a decking player

    There should be a definition for timed you sucked versus times you didn’t. The relief pitchers have mostly small sample sizes and the mid level relievers will have any stats skewed by the you really sucked outing.

    If you believe Larnach has finally figured it out you have a slightly bettter than median part time DH/ LF. If you think you have a player who will regress back to his past performance, you hope someone wants to trade for him. The attempted trade signals the latter is the Twin’s opinion. Yup there isn’t much out there for 1b/dh types with limited 2b type players. That doesn’t change what the hole in the Twins roster is. Pohlad ran his mouth saying something fans want to hear. To build a team that wins the mid market teams still needs to have a strong development system and to lock up that developing talent for years 7 and 8. They did that with Buxton, butt he has that injury issue that rarely goes away. Free agency is to baindaid the weak spots.

    Relief pitching is further down the list of needs. If they are spending on Vesia it would signal that there are no difference making hitters willing to entertain the notion of coming to the Twins

    The spending of money in a mid market team is almost irrelevant without a cost controlled core. That is what the Twins lack the core comes from development and trades. Development is not possible without underlying talent. Drafting players is not luck, but there also is no certainty in it. Trades are also a science. San Diego rarely gives up the prospect that turns into a star. The Soto trade was about it. The Falvey rarely traded his prospects, maybe Zoll will trade Falvey’s prospects better than Falvey traded Ryan’s prospects

    Kent Schrom does not exist, Ken Schrom was not a pitching coach, Kent Strom was retiring from Houston to spend time with his family, but took a job a few weeks later. Fired after 1 year in Arizona, then contract not renewed in Pittsburgh. With that kind of throwing of names out there, why would I have reason to believe you know what you are talking about

    If SWR had results similar to 24 and 25, the difference for 26 might be 4 more wins. Matt Wallner in 23 and 24 was a .875+ ops. He fell to worse than a backup defense first catcher. SWR probably doesn’t even win the most disappointing award

    The MVP is usually for the player who played most of the season with the team. The LVP shoud have to meet the same criteria. That should eliminate the injured for the year and jettisoned players from consideration. Position players who played. More than 100 games with an fwar less than 1 would be Lewis, Caratini, Bell, and Martin. They all have negative WPA for the season. Starters with at least 20 starts and an fwar less than one would be Zebby. Relievers who managed to pitch 40 innings and you could question would be Orze, and Adams, Adams is a development project, Orze had a decent FIP, but poor results. Zebby is a development project. That leaves the 3 position players. And Bell. It is a pickem on the players. I would thing voting would be a tie for Lewis and Caratini

    What have they been rigid on other than not letting SWP pitch to batters a third time and gradually increasing workloads. The MLB pitching coach will be responsible for the MLB team. He has the same limitation as the guy who was fired and the guy who quit He can only work with the talent he has. The consistent pattern has been to figure out what a pitcher can throw well and try to improve what they don’t or try a new pitch. Nothing wrong with that philosophy
