  1. They have 42 players on the roster, they need to get to 40, so 2 must go. Although multiple sites seem to think Mercedes needs to be protected, there isn’t much more than a high ceiling that his performance is nowhere near. Nowhere near is also his status as a mlb player. There doesn’t seem to be much else for the content creators to write about. If the FO thinks there are multiple overlooked players going to be available, they could go down to 38 or 39. Yes there are players to be considered on the bubble. Gray, Sabato and Walllner are probably at the top of thhe list. Any pitcher on the list is more likely to be traded than released. Pitching is always scarcer than utility players. From there it is Ross’s potential versus Kreidler’s pulse. Lewis or Larnach are not going anywhere unless there is some confidence in a replacement. Despite all of the thoughts expressed on the talent level of the bubble list, most aren’t going anywhere until better is found. The replacements will mostly comes from their own system. The chances of finding significant upgrades elsewhere is to bet that you can find the guy who will have the turnaround year. Trades require assets you don’t love and, look good to someone else. The Twins no longer have Ryan’s prospects to trade
  2. Did you misread what I said all along or just not understand it? From your last comment I am not sure which it is.
  3. Santander was probably the last decent position payer snatched in the rule 5 draft. Mercedes doesn’t have anywhere near that bat. It would be doubtful anyone would take Mercedes. After riding pine for a year, it might take a couple of option years to get him almost mlb ready
  4. They hired the person who helped shape Tampa’s strategies years ago
  5. One generation got old, one generation got soul
  6. They are doing due diligence on the retreads that have had some success before unsuccessful seasons. That, or maybe they want to meet them to help figure out what not to hire.
  7. There is a problem missing bats when there were 46 hits in 37.2 innings. Missing the plate is also a problem with 31 walks.
  8. The pitching coach of the major league team isn’t have anything to do with the minor leagues. Yup the minor league pitching coaches are in charge of developing pitchers. The following people in Tamap’s system must be on welfare then? Mitch Lukevics Senior Advisor, Player Development & Baseball Operations Jeff McLerran Senior Director, Baseball Development Samantha Bireley Director, Baseball Operations Simon Rosenbaum Director, Baseball Development
  9. They have an assistant vice president general manager type in charge of that. If they were changing the development they would have fired him rather than the scouting vote. Who seems to find a bball pitchers
  10. Pitching against better hitter may help the pitcher learn how to pitch better. Batting practice in game form might be of little use in development but does give them practice fielding and throwing to the correct spot
  11. When handed a team projected to win 73 games, Zoll beat the odds. PERCOTA said 79 wins, Zoll was a failure? Well, Fangraphs also projected SWR to have a low 4 ERA. Just find whatever you need to back your point..
  12. Well, if both don’t become ROY candidated welcome to a longer spell of everything must work right to contend teams. Who is prospect is a useless competion
  13. Of the 50 players selected after each of Lewis, Larnach, and Wallner, 7 total player have a bwar greater than 10. One of those 7 was Ryan Jefferson. I guess that would mean one of 2 things. One it is a low odds guess as who to draft. The other choice is that 30 teams in baseball are bad at developing players
  14. The con of spending is unlike other teams, free agent busts hurt. Spending without a solid core doesn’t move the needle for return on investment. Free agency still should be for a bridge player. There are exceptions but the Josh Donaldsons and Carlos Correas on longer term contracts did not work. Nelson Cruz contracts did
  15. One of Cody’s more sensical articles, except he forgot to add Sobato as the sweetener
  16. The dude said catching talent. One could argue they didn’t ass much talent through the draft for several tears in most of the positions.
  17. Just as long as they don’t look like the emperor’s new clothes
  18. Ty France had a career year, nice you can’t see the others
  19. A good bullpen is almost worthless when the starting pitching goes 4-5 innings and gives up 3-4 runs
  20. Yup, selling to private equity surely will make the Twins a winning franchise.
  21. There is nothing complicated about good enough or not,. Good year, bad year seems to be a pattern in his development. I suppose you can say being a top rated prospect a few years ago meant something. The complication is that perception
  22. I really doubt that prospect rankings matter to a baseball front office other than to hype what a team received in trade for a player.
