Montas has shoulder issues. If it was fixed he might be fine. If anything a one year contract

What would the trade look like? Will Warren, Clayton Beeter and a low level prospect. I don’t think Breslow is going to overpay

Injuries. That is glossed over. What has changed that he is not going to be injured yet again. How many years in a row has it been? Why would you sign yet another player with so much time missed by injury unless it is a team friendly deal. Wherever Garver plays the team would have to have a near ready plan B. He is a luxury item for a team

The article outlines Seattle moving players to shed salary. Why would they take back salary. Rodriguez and Lee would also need filler prospects. Starting pitching at the front of the rotation is still more expensive than BTV thinks.. When the trading was done, the Reds had 3 mlb players from Mahle. I think people think Gilbert may be bettter than Mahle and around longer

https://www.axios.com/2023/12/18/amazon-diamond-sports-group A lot would have to depend on the bankruptcy judge. Amazon Prime is 14.99 a month. It is hard to say how much Amazon would have to raise their price to pay for it

Trading for him would make sense if what the team needed was a back of the rotation starter. That is not the case Trading for a back of rotation starter would make sense if your only goal was to barely win the division. Most would hope that is not the goal. If just winning the division was enough Terry Ryan would still be the GM

All you need to do is click on the 2024 article and see how pointless these projections can be

I looked at the list of available fee agent pitchers and saw James Kapprellian. I looked to see what went wrong stat wise with his 2023 season. There was a link to see who the Bucs should pick up as minor league free agents. Sounded like a good idea. Nope. There was a link to the story on who they should trade for from the Twins. If their list of minor league free agents was a collection of mediocrity, curiosity took over. So many trade suggestions here look absolutely reasonable by comparison.

Thought that some folks could use a laugh. Look at what fangraphs had to say about the prospect, then look at the proposal. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/quinn-priester/25977/stats?position=P pre 2021 he was rated in the 50 or 52 for all prospects and went down from there. https://rumbunter.com/posts/pittsburgh-pirates-three-bold-trade-proposals-to-address-pitching-infield-needs/4

Hoffman was used mostly in low leverage situations last season . Coluombe was also by the end of the season To have used those two for the season who would have you removes from the 40 man

I would rather the Twins have the best pitching duo than hitting duo. See Dodger post season success

Regress back to what he was before 2023. Even then a Quick Look at Washington had for a bullpen last year Floro would be an upgrade. 2.25 million with incentives

Nobody should really want an inning eater on their staff. If nothing else, the 5 starter are the pitchers you are developing. Signing an innings eater means you don’t have anything in the pipeline. Lynn and Gibson have had success more than just being inning eaters in the past. The Cardinals must think they can tweak them to get back to mid rotation starter levels. They have always been about winning. Inning eaters are for teams like that don’t have the starts and know they are not going to contend. I would think the Royals would fit that category

The return based on past trades by other teams would be a quality reliever and low level prospects. The return is less of a question mark in the bullpen with more questions i the outfield

What they did last year with Varland really has no bearing as they did move him to the 40 man roster Yes the Dodgers made the trade of 2 players off the 40 man roster for 1 that does not need to be on the 40 man. In that process they traded a reliever. That does not necessarily mean they have more they want to move on from. They also just turned a reliever that appears to not be a late innings pitcher and a low ranked AA prospect who was on the 40 man into a higher ranked prospect. It would not be unreasonable to think they would want to do the same with Gus Is he worth that kind of capital? Your own statements would say not.

It would depend on what the Dodgers have in their system for relievers they can shuttle and develop. If the answer is not many then the price would be too high. If it is fairly full it would still take a decent prospect. It is a step above looking through the available AAA, AAAA pitchers that are available that still have options. Not much of a one.

The question is what kind of season are you preparing for? 162 and happy with that result or 184 game season and really happy with that result. Getting 35 starts out of Ober, Ryan, Paddack and Varland isn’t going to happen. An average of 25 each would be pushing it. With that the team would have to count on 2 of the minor league pitchers to step up in development. That is a lot to expect. They need a quality starter.

You wanted the steak at Mannys but wanted to pay Best Steak House on Hennepin (long gone) prices

This is the Sonny Gray trade vs Pablo Lopez trade. The second option you list costs more, higher risk, yet higher reward if successful in terms of the long term. The first option in the end requires lucky drafting., getting a player like Petty vs Cavacao. The problem is that any trade could end up like the Mahle trade where the team will have to invest more to make the trade work

2 teams looking to cut payroll are not trading less expensive players for more expensive one. As mentioned, the Twins do have options in the outfield. They still have noy given up on larnach Taylor is drawing interest as an inexpensive fill in outfielder. He has value as a defensive outfielder on a contract similar to what he signed for with the Twins.. Somebody may think they can fix the strikeouts and offer a little more., but I wouldn’t expect a $10 million deal

Ticket price complaint. 100 a seat means you were sitting in the best seats. 17 bucks will get you into a game. 33 or so each on food Food like what used to be at the Metrodome or Met Stadium should have cost $6.each. Parking somewhere around $100 Hmmm I am starting to suspect Pinocchio is at play here

What they have not replaced is Trevor May. That is what they need to replace

It took them 3 years for Santana to develop. Not every team has that luxury. A Santana is also part of the reason why they don’t have that luxury. Done at 30. Pitch counts and innings may have prolonged his career. Bullpens are used more so there isn’t a stash spot. The number of pitchers selected appears to be geared towards finding bullpen pitchers, swing pitchers. Wells in Baltimore, Whitlock in Boston. Are the best examples. A team still has to do their diligence in looking and protecting. Somebody else can look to see if there were DFAs that were done to protect prospects blossomed into something. That is also the byproduct of the system. Also trades to clear roster spots. I think Nick Anderson was one. Diligence finds these players. Twins have been on the short end of that, but I don’t think this regime had much use for a lot of the Ryan prospects.

I thought when I said higher skilled it would have eliminated this kind of comment. My bad for not taking the time to go look up to see what is out there.
